Morde Rework Ideas (input welcome)
So, i have some idea's about morde's rework i'd like to share. i'm sure his kit is well into being worked on, but i REALLY like this idea in my head and want to share it and see if anyone else agrees
so Morde, to me, should feel like the most menacing thing on the field. his attacks should be super slow, but be terrifying to get hit by. if he has you in his sights and is winding up a swing at you, you should have insurmountable dread of that ability hitting you, and if you're too close, you're frozen in that fear. he should be the LAST thing you want to be anywhere near. he should also be fairly tanky, he's always seemed like a bruiser to me, but one that has the potential to hit REALLY hard. he also NEEDS some form of cc, imo plenty of it, not all of it guaranteed though. so here's the abilities i suggest. i'm not sure really what to do with his e yet though.
NOTE: i'm not going too in deep on numbers, and when i mention numbers here i'm being slightly general to give an idea on how certain abilities should interact with one another. so all the numbers given are tentative
Passive: on cast of a basic ability, any unit within a short radius of mordekaiser will be feared for 1 second. (this fear cant really be too long, as it is just a passive and it is mostly for being able to set up his other abilities given their cast times
Q:Slow target champion for 3 seconds, your next auto attack on that champion deals bonus damage, the target does not get feared by the passive fear created by ability (this is so you can gap close in lane and still do some sort of auto attack, because aside from his big hit from his E, your primary source of damage will still be auto attacks, but he needs a way to reach them, I think of this being like that moment in movies where everything slows down when someone is trying to run away from something terrifying, maybe he casts some sort of shrapnel on the target to slow them down as they cant run through it, could also do some damage over time that way, but I feel like that may be adding too many DOTs on him, idk. This should function similar to Nasus using w and then q’ing the target, but morde doesn’t get the bonus damage unless he hits that target. making the target unaffected by the passive means if they’re already close to you they won’t run out of his auto range, especially someone like an ulting yi, and it can be used to fear the target’s would-be peelers)
W: Creates a wide aoe around mordekaiser of shrapnel that does little damage, and after 2 seconds drags all the shrapnel back to him dealing a moderate burst of damage and healing him for an amount based on a small percentage (like say 15% for example) his health and/or ap. (Should still be some sort of sustain tool, i like the idea of his current w that it steals health from his surroundings, but i think it could be better. could also add his current passive onto this ability to give him a health shield based on damage he deals these numbers shouldnt be too crazy, dont want him to be able to recover half his health and have another half worth of shield to go with it, but this should allow him to stay alive in trades and team fights)
E: mordekaiser becomes unstoppable as well as rooted and raises his mace and channels for 1.25 seconds before smashing the ground creating a crater (visually only) around him dealing massive damage to a large area in an off centered circle in front of him that reaches slightly behind him, champions hit are slowed for a short duration. (this could also be a cone that could pull units toward him but i like the visual of him smashing the earth so hard it hurts everything around him. the idea is that if you get caught by the fear, you NEED to use a mobility tool to get away from it, but if morde uses it and no one gets feared it'll likely be relatively easy for someone to just walk out of. This could also be a knock-up/stun instead of the slow, or make the crater not just visual but be like a mini jarvan ult that doesn’t last nearly as long)
R: mordekaiser marks a target champion, draining their health for 10 seconds, after 3 seconds, he can reactivate to teleport to the target. on arrival he fears everyone in a larger area than his passive around him with the exception of the marked target. (this idea was given to me by my roommate, and i like it because it adds to the theme of making your enemies dread you getting near them, it means you cant escape him, you see that helmet over your head and you instantly fear the moment he could appear on you at any moment, as you run to the safety of your tower or team but if the target gets too close their team, they could end up giving him a free initiation for his team given when he jumps to you the first thing he's going to do is fear everyone in his immediate vicinity. and if you do want to fear the target you time using your ground smash. but the idea is that it forces a target to run away in fear, but separate themselves from their team unless they can guarantee a kill on him. being able to use this effectively to secure kills and start team fights potentially if the target isn't in proper position will be important later in the game. reanimating a dead enemy just never really fit his thematic to me, and i feel like it makes more sense to give him a good form of initiation that is high risk high reward, and potentially have a huge impact on a team fight by separating a carry from their team
i gave him a lot of cc because with how mobile the current roster is, morde needs ways of being able to stay in range so he's not useless, since he himself does not seem like a champion that will be able to be mobile, and he needs to NOT require rylai's as a crutch to make him useful
i think the abilities should have a mix of ad and ap scaling. perhaps his ground smash does physical damage but scales with both ap and ad. you could think of it as he is gaining more strength into the swing based on his magical power, given that he seems to be animated armor and doesn't really have any physical strength. but he should have strong, hard hitting but slow auto attacks aside from his q auto attack which could be a little faster and act as almost a pseudo reset if the target is already your auto attack target.
So that's my idea, i'm excited what people think, hope you like it, i'm happy to hear input. i know a lot of this is nonspecific, but i just wanted to get the general idea out. it's been in my head for a while now since the fact he was getting a real rework was announced. ALSO i'm not good with ability names, feel free to suggest.
the idea of pentakill morde every time his passive goes off he strums the guitar and music waves to force them to ROCK to the music is amazing to me.
(should have posted this in gameplay/+ board? i think it qualifies under concepts, but maybe it'd be more noticed there, especially if i hope a rioter will see it)
