Support Strategy: Leveling order: W Q E Q E R Q W E Q R Q W E E R W W Starting items: Relic shield, vision ward, health potion, warding totem. Late game item build: Face of the Mountain, sightstone (ruby preferably), Boots of mobility, Archangel's Staff, Rod of ages, Zhonya's Hourglass, Oracle Lens.
Basic plan- Lv 1- Get your starting items and go down to bottom lane, be sure to be proc'ing your Passive and using your relic shield to get CS to make use of your passive. You are squishy, be careful at this level. WARD, DEAR GOD PLEASE WARD. (This goes for you too ADC -_- )
Lv 2- Keep doing what you where doing in lv 1, try to poke a little with your Q, don't go to crazy though. YOU ARE SQUISHY.
Lv 3-5- Look for plays with your W E Q Q combo, see if you can get a gank, if not continue doing what you're doing. You should probably have done your first back by now, make sure to prioritize getting that sightstone and a set of boots whenever you can.
Lv 6- This is about when TF'ing begins to start, if you chose to use your R on the enemy team, please be sure that you will deal some damage, this has a very long cooldown. If TF'ing has not started continue warding and supporting.
Lv 7-11- Try to do whatever you can to assure your teams victory, your R ability is game-changing if used properly. By now you should be dealing decent damage with your Q, so make sure to use it often, when in TF's, make sure to time your W properly to boost your team
Lv 11~ - Keep on teamfighting, if you and your ADC decide to, you can push very strongly with your W.
Best Case scenario team Comp: Ion, Amumu, Jinx, Annie, Kayle
Basic tips for being a good Ion support:
- WARD
- Be aware of you positioning, if a Blitzcrank or Thresh get a hold of you, you're probably dead.
- Use your passive to keep good sustain, this will completely git rid of any reason to run mana potions or recall for mana.
- Use your E Q Q combo to add pressure and put some extra damage downstream.
- WARD
- Try to avoid going against supports or ADC's with high pick potential. You can still win, but will be slightly in their favor.
Looks/Appearance: You know how Ryze and Brand are kinda opposites? I was trying to make this Xerath's anti. Maybe an all metal body with electric flowing around the metal. His dance would be the electric slide. Deep voice, long/evil laugh. I think if the electricity flowing around him was yellow/gold he would look really nice.
Why I want to make this character: I main support Blitzcrank and I really like supporting, I want a support that can fit this role of a mage/support. While yes there is Annie and Veigar, they don't have as high of a skillcap as Ion and neither of them have any great supporting attributes, besides stuns. I also wanted to make a character that people would want to play, (besides jungle) support is the hardest role to find in team builder, and I think if Ion was added in people would enjoy him and thus play support and expand their horizons. Another big reason is that, well, I want my own character. Who wouldn't?
Reasoning behind his abilities:
Passive: Seems like a semi-new idea, kinda like a built in
. Also gives Ion some great sustain in lane.
Q: Every champion needs some kind of spammy move, that's why this is here. Also, it adds some skillcap into the mix with its Electron proc with E.
W: Not too many supports have any sort of team steroids, giving Ion some more complexity and utility.
E: This will be the move that determines a good Ion from a bad one. If used properly this can be chained with 2 Q's and melt people.
R: Not enough damage/uniqueness you say? Well, that's why we have this. Basically Blitzcrank's Static Field with mana draining.
That's about it for me, took about an hour to write this and I hope it gets some attention. If this get's popular I'll get some Skins and ability art drawn. That's all, Best of luck on the Rift!
