#Otak’Yr, The Rift’s Envoy

#Kit and Abilities:

Reality is a construct of chemicals.

##Innate: Ascending Influences:

Okat’Yr gains 6/9/11 movement speed for each Nerve Tether created.

##Q: Echoing Nerves:##

Okat’Yr reaches out with a neural extension, creating a Nerve Tether between himself and the target. If the target is an ally, they are healed 45/75/105/135/165 (+ 30% AP). If the target is an enemy, they are damaged 45/85/125/185/225 (+ 35% AP).

If a champion who is already tethered is hit by Echoing Nerves again, they create a tether from their model to two other nearby champions of either team. A percentage of all healing applied to a tethered ally champion echos to other allies tethered to the healed ally. A percentage of all damage applied to a tethered enemy echos to enemies tethered to the damaged enemy.

######Tethers last 4/5/6/7/8 seconds.

##W: Eldritch Whispers:##

Okat’Yr expends mental power down all Nerve Tethers connected to him. Eldritch Whispers will then bounce to the next set of Nerve Tethers. A champion can only be effected by Eldritch Whispers once.

Enemies affected by Eldritch Whispers have 10% (+5% of Total AP) of their movement speed stolen. The average movement speed stolen is then granted to every ally tethered.

##E: Neurosis:##

Okat’Yr instantly connects any other champion, friend or foe, with a Nerve Tether and inflicts Neurosis, granting them a 240/260/280/300/320 health shield and Polymorphing them as they are consumed by physical madness for .8/1/1.2/1.4/1.6/ seconds.

##R: Reality Seizure:

Otak’Yr seizes the area nearby with the disturbing power of a rift. After a 1.5 second channel, all Tethers are broken. Enemies who were affected by a Nerve Tether once the channel ends are stunned for 1.5/1.75/2 seconds.

#Lore and Background:

Chant with the hellish whispers, embrace their undeniable grasp, slip into the forsaken existence that is utter absence.

Otak’Yr is a floating, massive behemoth, whose tendrils fall endlessly down, burrowing themselves into Runeterra’s realm of existence. He is a medium, an emissary between the world of man and the terrifying Void. Once a mere transmitter between worlds, he now is a complete conscious who is taking root in Runeterra by force.

Centuries ago, swarms of void pests burrowed through the emptiness between realms into Runeterra. These small parasites formed a connection, a line of communication back to the void. As they drank in biomass and genetic information from a delicious and lush world, they began to do what the Void does best.

Grow.

These transmitter voidlings connected and adapted their instincts as they multiplied like cells. What once relied on impulse and evolutionary urges took a major step in the direction of sentience. Before long, these evolving pests unravelled into a nightmarish amalgamation of root and vine like connections.

What would become Otak’Yr, a unique Voidborn formed from Runeterra’s particular ecosystems and environment, was now an adapting mass of nerves and thoughts. The pace at which this massive “brain” changed was accelerating.

For Otak’Yr however, he truly blossomed into his own existence once he surpassed a single conscious and presence. Breaking free from the land that betrayed its own planet, Otak’Yr rose into the sky and began his eldritch crusade.

While Otak’Yr still acts as a messenger back to the Void, his own agenda leads him to take commanding power over every repressible lifeform on Runeterra. This planet will fall not to the Void, but under Otak’Yr’s mind numbing influence.

This concept is without a doubt underwhelming for what I normally do. I didn’t plan to enter this month but I was able to throw this together today. Anyways thanks for reading and I’d appreciate any of your thoughts.

Thought I'd drop an examination of your concept - given that you don't seem to have any feedback.

One of the key issues I feel that the passive has is the complete lack of any substantial gameplay impact. Most importantly, I feel that there should definitely be some more actual mechanics behind it instead of something that could very easily be just tied into one of the existing abilities that currently exist. Perhaps a better method of incorporating the Void into the kit - certainly a function served effectively by the Tethers, but also definitely room for there to be expansion as to the exact thing you're looking into.

The other problematic issue here might be the E - a novel ability in and of itself, but I don't really agree to an ability that could adversely affect an ally in a method like Polymorph. Of particular concern is the fact that it also grants a shield to an enemy, meaning that it's extremely easy to grief your team like so. A good start is to make the shield just not affect enemies- that alone fixes many of the issues that are currently present.

Overall, I feel that the largest issue is the kit, and the method it revolves around the Q so much. In this, I believe that if you centralise the Q into the passive and instead radiate the rest of the kit from it - that that ould serve as an extremely effective method of redefining ho the champion generally orks. A solution you may look into is to create more gameplay that isn't directly affected by the tethers as that basically makes or breaks your kit - it also being a P&C spell that may make laning against Otakyr very frustrating due to the simpistic nature, and abiiity to affect them as there exist a great number of time to affect the enemy in the laning phase. This does not hold up in TF, as there simply isn't enough time to exercise abilities to their full potential, as the binary abilities and lack of true mechanical complexity might make it very hit or miss as a result.

I was bored, I love Otak'yr, figured why not review.

Lore His lore is exquisite. It truly captures his gruesomeness, and he strikes me as similar to a character of mine, Fleshsinger. To give context, Fleshsinger is a horrifying amalgamation of corpses. She assimilates everything into her body, as a sort of gestalt. This is also similar to the Flood, from Halo. HOWEVER. It seems that, what makes Otak'yr unique, is while Fleshsinger absorbs their physical characteristics and mentality occasionally, and the Flood which seems to simply assimilate you into the Flood/Hive-Mind, like the Bohrok from BIONICLE. However, Otak'yr? He doesn't seem to care to much for the physical aspect, but he instead corrupts your mind. He digs inside, burrowing his tentacles into every nook and cranny, every crevice, to turn you into joining him. I do have questions on his origins. Was he just a bunch of like, voidlings, that happened to merge into Otak'yr, or is he a unique species, like the Xer'Sai?

Kit Now, Kit! His passive is.. Underwhelming, in my opinion. It easily could be the passive bonus of another ability, to me, however, it does seem powerful if you know how to use it.

His Q somewhat confuses me. So, when you cast it, bloop, there's a tether. If you hit the tethered enemy again (let's say it's Anivia), does Anivia then hit two of her allies, two of the nearest champs of either teams, or two of Otak'yr's allies? If you hit Anivia with the damage, does it just mean, if she tethers Varus and Morgana, they are dealt a weaker damage by de facto, automatically? Like, I'm imagining a chain lightning sort of effect, diluting as it goes.

The wording of W is somewhat bad, but I think I know what you mean. He basically steals speed from anyone who's tethered and an enemy, and gives it to any ally? But what do you mean by sets of Nerves? Like, uhhh. Do you mean that if Otak'yr tethered Anivia, who was hit again, and that bounced to Varus and Morgana, but then Otak'yr hits Brand with the nerves, and it leaps from Brand to Darius and Jarvan IV, would those be like "Anivia's Set" and "Brand's Set"? If Otak'yr hit Anivia, but that leaped from Anivia to Morgana, and Otak'yr hit Morgana, would that then let the nerves bounce off of Morgana? (Hello, perma-tethering). Does this ability apply damage?

I assume that E, enemies are polymorphed, allies are shielded? Does this apply damage on enemies?

So, is his R basically Morgana's R, but without the damage, slow or even true sight?

I'm imagining this is a support character, as they don't seem to have enough damage to go anywhere else, or any of the other criteria.

Other Comments Now, this champion. The thematic seems inspired by lovecraftian stuff, like Cthulu, but also some hive-mind, assimilation/gestalt aspects too, which is quite brilliant. This is the type of champion I would fall in love with. I have very.. Picky, tastes when it comes to champions I like. I can review things that don't strike my fancy, but I prefer the ones that do. And this one fits the bill.

Examples? Rek'Sai, who is a folklore, myth, legend. Rek'Sai is a vicious predator, the apex predator of the Sai Desert, who reigns supreme. She has been, as mentioned by rioters, as being quite dangerous. One Rioter even noted that Cho'Gath would be terrified of running into Rek'Sai in the wild, which makes her seem even more dangerous. She is known Shurima-Wide, but it suggests she isn't globally known, which makes her fascinating.

Reksai is the Queen of her species, the Xer'Sai. Vel'Koz is on a different level of Void species hierarchy. The information Vel'Koz has on Rek'sai is - if I ever encounter Rek'sai in the wild I should get as far away as quickly as possible :) wait - but then Tremor Sense...I think Vel'Koz would be smart enough to never be in that position in the first place :P

Was also posted. Now, why am I talking about Rek'Sai? Because I think that Otak'yr is the same way. He isn't globally known, but to the denizens of the Void? They know to get as far from him as possible. While they are terrified of Rek'Sai, they hate Otak'yr. That makes him interesting. Why would the rest of the void hate him, because I think that's what you were going for. Otak'yr seems like he would be known as a myth, or a lore, rather than a literal always-present threat, like Cho'Gath or Kha'Zix, who you could just see. No, Otak'yr is greater than that.

I would love to play Otak'yr, he is a Void Support, which is something we have yet to have, and I love it. Otak'yr has a beautiful lore, wonderful potential and I hope to discuss him with you more.
