Doran (Champion Idea)

Doran is primarily a tank but makes a good fighter as well. I built him to be a strong early game champion and keep his strength only if he utilizes it. His passive ability, "The Right of Doran", doubles any and all 'Doran' items (aka: 'Doran's shield', 'Doran's ring', 'Doran's blade') that Doran has in his inventory; additionally, at levels six, twelve, and eighteen he can combine any two 'Doran' items that are in his inventory. His 'Q' ability, "The True Shield of Doran", puts up a one-way facing shield that blocks and transforms a percentage of intercepted damage into his mana. His 'W' ability, "The Glory of Doran", temporarily inflicts magic damage to nearby enemies as well as temporarily increasing his movement speed and health regeneration . His 'E' ability, "The Strength of Doran", makes him slam into the ground: sending a strong shock wave that deals damage while stunning nearby enemy minions and slowing nearby enemy champions. His 'R' ability, "King's Retribution", deals true damage, and deals more true damage based on his current score -- kills plus half of his assists and minus his deaths -- but will not subtract from the damage his ultimate ability deals if the score 'equals' zero or less.

Doran was a legendary king, and the three empowered things that he always carried with him into battle was his ring, shield, and sword. Every land feared him, because they knew he was out to conquer the world. Then he heard rumor of a mage in Ithica creating a powerful arcane scroll. After months of interrogating every one of the nobility he conquered, he decided that this was worth a temporary change in his path. To ensure his victory with little dispute, he brought along all of the mutated animals from the land he had devastated by his greatest magicians: those which became know as the creatures of eternal night. He arrived at the foot of a mountain when he saw two men, one ancient and one youthful, at a table with a long scroll in a cave halfway up the mountain. He ordered his monsters to attack at once. The mountain shook with the bombardment of the monsters while Doran walked toward them, but the young apprentice never trembled, beguiling the creatures left and right. The old mage finished with the scroll, only to be impaled by Doran's sword. The younger one grabbed the scroll and proceeded to speak with great power, "I Merlin, the apprentice of the greatest mage, hereby send Doran and his hoard of monsters to the land from which the monster's came, the land now dark from corrupted magic. Now, by the power of these runes imbued by my master, I call forth its magic. No more shall the creatures enslaved by Doran be forced to do his will. And let the land of night remain in a prison of runic power, taken away from this this time and that place. It shall no more be within this world, but in a different world, a world of its own magic. Channel the magic of that land to empower this scroll's command." Doran, with horror, realized what the scroll was going to do, so he reacted. A moment before Merlin finished the spell, he shouted one of his own: "Where I go, Merlin shall go, and this shall remain as long as we both live." In an instant, Merlin, Doran, and all of the creatures corrupted by dark magic vanished, but the scroll was dropped and was left there -- alone. The land of Night became known by other names over time: the Land of Eternal Night, and eventually, The void, but Doran was not as quickly forgotten. For hundreds of years, those that were conquered and those that bordered that which was conquered maintained a very large defending force, fearing that he would come to their doorstep proclaiming the land for his own, because no one knew what had happened to him. But, after centuries with only the magically imbued weapons remaining from his conquests, even his native kingdom of Rakkor began to forget about Doran. The only memory of Doran that remains, is that of his weapons. Then, he bursts into the night, but right now he is not looking for conquest, but revenge. He knows Merlin came with him, and his first priority now is to kill him with the new magic he has perfected, it will be his retribution. He will destroy that scroll with whoever bears that scroll, and once he does, the creatures will once again become the majority of his army. He will conquer the world!

This looks like an awesome champion. I really want to play as Doran. Is the scroll mentioned in Doran's lore the same as the scroll on Ryze's back? Ryze

Unless the enemy plays it safe, or it is another Doran. Think about Darius or DrMundo or Renekton or Pantheon for example.

I don't see how they look like gimmick's. I am interested to see why you say that. Also I updated Doran's Lore. Please tell me what you think. Mind you I'm still working on his lore; it is just difficult to get decent time to type with my schedule.

I have changed his abilities a little and changed his lore too. This should fix any issues that you have.

Doubling the effect of Doran'a items is hugely OP at early/mid levels. He'll basically auto-win lanes on the strength of that passive alone.

His abilities seem like gimmicks at best.

Being part of the crowd of league players that has been a while, It interests me less because it pays no homage to Doran's actual lore...
