Champion Concept: Masochism Passive
This was an idea that I had brewing in my head for a while. I told a few of my friends about this so that they can pitch in their ideas and comments. This is still subject to modification, but just throwing this out there.
I was actually thinking of a passive for a champion called Masochism whereby it would behave similarly to a
except instead or dealing magic damage instantaneously, it would store the damage, and use the stored value as scaling for spells.
50 percent of the damage taken before defenses is stored inside the champion's passive. The value would have no cap; there is no need. The number would reset upon using their spells as 10000 masochism (except E, more on that later) or visiting the fountain for any reason (recall, walked into fountain, died, etc). This number would also decrease for 25 percent of the amount they heal in any way, shape, or form, including natural regeneration. Additionally, the number would be reduced by 5 percent of the current amount stored every second when remained undamaged for 4 seconds.
Therefore, healing would reduce the value, staying in lane puts you at risk of dying because there will come a point where you are low health trying to keep that passive high and the enemy come fresh from base with fancy new items while all you have is your passive. Recalling would reset the value, giving you items if you have the gold, but taking your stored damage away. And having someone heal you would be more detrimental than beneficial. This would give way to a high risk high reward play style. The more stored damage one has, the more of a menace they are. At the same time, however, a well placed snipe may finish them off. At the same time, staying undamaged causes your masochism to decrease faster the larger the value is.
It would be nice to gauge the stored damage of said champion. As such, their resource bar (typically the mana bar) would be always full, but would appear black, and would change color slightly for every threshold passed in masochism (more on that later). Blue at 0-149, Green at 150-999, Yellow at 1000-2999, Orange at 3000-9999, and Red at 10000 and beyond. This will allow allies and enemies to gauge how useful or how much of a menace this champion is.
I mentioned earlier that this value will be used as scaling. While most champions have their spells scale off ap, some off ad, and some are confused such as Braum (q scales off health, r scales off ap), this champion's ONLY scaling would be this number, and the ratios within the spells. As such, the champion cannot cast his or her spells with 0 masochism (except their e. More on that later). The reason for this is... well, 0 (masochism) multiplied by 0.75 (hypothetical ratio) is... 0. So the spell would do nothing in terms of damage. If the champion's masochism passes certain thresholds, the spells also gain additional or different effects.
Now then, onto the abilities. This is subject to change, and I'm happy to hear your comments on this.
Q:
A simple damage spell. A decent ratio of 0.55 of masochism. Empowers the next basic attack with the effects of masochism, adding damage to the next attack, among other things given the amount of masochism stored. Additional effects: At 150: Applies a 3/6/9/12/15 percent slow. At 1000: knocks back for 700 units at all levels At 3000: applies 3 second stun to a single target, silencing all nearby enemies for 0.25/0.5/0.75/1/1.25 seconds in place of knock back. At 10000: Aoe stun for 3 seconds, resets masochism.
W:
A gap closer for this melee jungler/top laner or off build support. Pulls the target to the champion. Uses 0.70 masochism as damage. Masochism Effects: 150: Missile ignores minions and monsters, latch onto walls and pull yourself to them. 1000: Increased Range (by 80 units) and width is increased. Wind up is reduced by 5 percent. 3000: Applies an aoe effect around the target, snagging all nearby targets within hugging distance (150 units) along for the ride. The champion also moves captured champion behind him. 10000: Spell becomes point-and-click and cannot be interrupted. Resets masochism.
E: Champion would damage themselves for the sake of generating masochism. Deals damage to a percentage of their own health as true damage. Masochism effects: 150: Damage is now considered attack damage, and can be reduced by armor. 1000: The health taken by this spell instead becomes a shield that disappears after 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds. 3000: Gives a speed buff of 1 percent for every 100 masochism after 3000 masochism, up to 10000 masochism (mathematically speaking, this has a "cap" of 70 percent) 10000: Keep 25 percent of your masochism upon casting a spell that would otherwise erase it entirely. Only works once, and lasts for 4 seconds. If another spells is not cast, lose 75 percent of your masochism.
R:
Double your current masochism, increase damage conversion rate to 100 percent, and negate negative effects of healing towards masochism. Lasts for 1.25/2.5/3.75 seconds. Massachism's value replaces ad. No additional masochism effects. When effect ends, lose all masochism. (If 10000 stack E is cast, and R is cast while E is still active, lose only 75 percent of stacks, even if R expires after E.)
Damaging this champion would not be the issue. The issue would be finishing them off. But if they can be bursted down before they can make proper use of their powerful masochism, they are toast. Otherwise, be ready for a world of hurt. All aboard the pain train.
Naturally, the champion would be melee ranged and would be slow moving. The Q would help them move throughout the jungle relatively quickly, and would let them generate masochism. W lets them engage the gank, and R will let them get off their 10000 stack q or w. However, they need to choose one or the other. E can help them generate their passive, and reduce the cost of their 10000 stack q or w or their r, but not entirely. Also, with r being such a powerful yet short-lived spell, this should only be used in large engages, or as an ace in the hole if losing a fight badly. However, if used incorrectly, consider yourself dead.
Any criticism and suggestions are accepted.
I also apologize for any mistakes. It's 10 pm, and I'm usually asleep at this time...
I also realize how in-depth I went into this. Likely too far. But I just wanted this to be unique, and if not something that would be used in the rift, then at least as a nice fan concept (rip Omen). Hopefully I didn't bored people to the point of gray screen.
Anyways, best of luck in the rift summoners!
And have a dank meme-filled day!
