If you're like me story is an extremely important part of the game. It allows you to connect to the characters and it binds the world together, makes the game come alive rather than just be numbers and stats. So far I've loved every lore event Riot has done. With Mount Targon though I crave so much more. With that I humbly submit the first part of my story, I hope you enjoy.

Part 1

Diana sat cross legged at the edge of the lake, Khopesh resting across her thighs. Though the wild howled and bit at her through her armor she remained motionless, eyes closed in meditation, trying to calm the demons that tormented her heart. She would need all her resolve for the next battle and she could not be distracted by human doubts or fears.

Out of the howling wind came a steady thumping, a drumbeat that grew in volume with each passing moment. At first Diana thought it was her beating heart but she quickly identified it as the sound of leather boots on hard stone marching towards her. Out of the darkness came hundreds of Rakkor warriors in full battle armor, a gleaming warrior at their head. Leona.

Diana did not move, did not open her eyes. She knew that they had come for her, believing her to be the enemy. They did not know a greater enemy lurked in the shadows, yearning to tear them apart and take this world for their own.

"Diana," Leona called through the howling wind. "We are hear to see that you answer for your crimes against the Solari elders. Surrender your weapons. These are good soldiers, there does not need to be any more blood shed this night."

Diana heard Leona's plea and opened her eyes. How she wished that this could be ended peacefully but in her heart she knew there would be no peace. No shelter from the coming storm. "I am sorry but I cannot allow that. There is a war coming and I might rise up to fight it. You know this to be true. Why do you deny it?"

Leona shouted back. "I deny nothing. There is a war coming and we will win it. We do not need to compromise our morals and enlist the aid of murderers like you. Take her!"

With that command thirty soldiers stepped forwards, spears and shields at the ready. They encircled Diana slowly, wary to approach within reach of her deadly weapon. But Diana did not raise her blade. Hopelessness began to well within her. There could be no day without night. Without their combined might this world would surely fall. Diana came out of her trance as the shackles clicked shut around her wrists. She looked down at them, looked down at her failure, and felt an uncontrollable rage building inside her.

Diana began to glow with the fury of the moon's light. Leona shouted "Subdue her now!" The soldiers raised their spears to strike. Just as the spears began to plunge downwards Diana shouted "NO!" The force of the blast knocked the soldiers twenty feet backwards. A shield of pure moonlight surrounded her. "I will never be chained again, neither in body nor in mind." With that Diana shattered her bonds and raised her blade in defense.

"So be it," Leona whispered as she drew her own blade. Her soldiers surged forward behind her. "Stay back!" She shouted to them, her voice commanding but showing fear for her soldiers' lives. "Only I have the power to subdue her." Though it was night Leona felt her power grow within her. The fire of the sun burned within her beating heart, coursing power through her veins.

In a flash Leona closed the distance between her and Diana. Diana attempted to block attack but took Leona's shield full force, sending her crashing into the mountainside. The force of the impact caused a small rockslide, burying Diana in rubble.

For a moment all was silent except for the howling wind. Leona stood ready behind her shield, knowing the battle would not be this easily won. A flash of light sent the rubble flying in a million directions, crashing into nearby soldiers and raining down upon the glass like surface of the lake. Diana rose from the gaping hole in the mountain, her body cloaked in moonlight and power radiating from her. She reached up to wipe the blood from her lip and smiled.

Within a moment she crashed back into Leona, riding a beam of pure moonlight. Leona absorbed the blow with her shield and the force of the blast lit up the night sky as if it was day. Diana rained down blow after blow upon Leona, the full power of the moon empowering each strike. Leona blocked each attack with her shield and responded with strikes of her own. The sounds of their blades striking echoed like thunder and each collision lit up the plateau like a lightening strike. The Rakkor soldiers could only look on in awe and fear at the immense power of these two beings, so evenly matched that neither could maintain the upper hand for long.

Another explosion of moonlight against sunlight sent Leona and Diana both flying backwards. They both rose slowly, each tired and gasping for air but both unwilling to yield for something they believed in their heart to be right. The readied themselves for another assault when their battle was disrupted by an arc of violet energy along the edge of the lake. An orb of pulsating energy quickly formed, arcs of crackling energy whipping around it as it quickly grew in size. Both Diana and Leona knew what this meant and both looked on in horror as the orb continue to grow, engulfing the shoreline of the lake. The invasion had begun.
