Titeus, the Last Griffin [Champion Concept]
INTRO
Titeus is a griffin champ who's designed to be a Tank/Jungler with powerful ganks. This is my first concept, but I've been thinking about it for a long time and I'm fairly happy with where he's at. This is actually the rework of my concept, since I came up with it so long ago and have come up with new ideas to make him work. The lore is from when he still had the old kit, but I hope you still enjoy reading it.
LORE
*We charged the Noxian ranks as one, prepared to fight and die for the cause we all shared. The war cries of soldiers ready for battle filled the air; many lives would be ended this day. *
Our forces clashed with those of our foe in a raging maelstrom of steel. Dozens of foes fell before my sword, each life taken in the name of Demacia. We pushed back our enemy, cleaving through rank after rank of Noxians. Our success did not appear to extend to the rest of our army, however; we pushed so well, we left our allies behind us. The gap we left behind was swiftly filled by reserve soldiers, and we were surrounded. My fellow Demacians fought nobly, but the enemy was too numerous. We were cut off from our allies; there was little hope for an escape.
It was not long before I was the last one standing. I was surrounded by enemies, and my fate had been sealed. Nevertheless, I was prepared to die fighting, a testimony to the great courage and honor of my people. The Noxians smiled at this chance to end my life, each one no doubt desiring to deal the killing blow and claim the credit for striking down the Might of Demacia.
It seems I was not meant to die that day, however. A loud cry erupted from the skies, and all eyes looked upwards in surprise and confusion. With the speed of a lightning bolt, I was swept up from the ground and carried away from certain death. The Noxians simply gaped, not exactly sure what they had just seen. I myself did not know what held me in its grasp, but I guessed that it at least did not want me dead.
I was carried to the hill overlooking the battle, where the Demacian camp was located. There the creature carefully set me on the ground. I arose to my feet to see this creature that had saved my life; what I saw was something I would never forget. Before me was a massive lion-like creature, with the head and wings of an eagle. Its eyes looked at me, full of intelligence and wisdom. And then the creature spoke to me. "There is life in you yet, Garen." It said. "Do not throw it away."
At that, it took flight once more, soaring into the sky before fading into the distance. At that moment, the sounds of battle became evident to me once more. My fellow Demacians needed me. I squinted at the hazy outline of the being that had saved my life, and then returned at haste to the battle. I walked away from that day thinking, however. Where had the beast come from? What was my life to it? I did not know, and I do not know now. I did, however, afterwards pay more attention to the rumors of a winged creature roaming the wilderness. Whatever it was - whoever it was, I was glad to have it on my side.
KIT
(Titeus' base stats are what you would expect of a tanky champion. Mana hunger is a potential downside for him as well.)
-
Passive - Evasive Flight Titeus flies over earthborn units, ignoring collision with them. Also, he takes % reduced physical and magic damage based on his current movement speed. (Roughly 1% per 30 MS, I'm thinking) This both encourages Titeus to, well, be fast, and rewards enemies for cc'ing him. Also lets the big ol' griffin fly over people. Effectively, temporary movement buffs now make you tankier, slows make you less tanky, while roots, knockups, stuns and suppresses ruin your passive altogether.
-
Q - Ancient Claws Titeus rends enemies in a small area beneath him, dealing physical damage after .25 seconds. Minions and monsters have 30/35/40/45/50% reduced damage output for 3 seconds. (Halved versus epic monsters.) Since Titeus is designed as a jungler, this is both his clearing ability and his way of helping curb incoming monster damage. It's cooldown is low so he can use it consistently while clearing camps.
-
W - Resounding Cry Titeus roars, dealing minor magic damage in a large area around him. All enemies hit are slowed by 35% for 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds. Early on, this skill helps Titeus keep enemies from escaping as easily while he is ganking. When teamfights start occurring, it becomes a handy cc ability that can hit most of the enemy team. The slow affects attack speed as well as movement speed.
-
E - Griffin's Wings Titeus dives downward, gaining a huge (75%, 100%) movement speed buff. For 1 second. He is immune to slowing effects while using Griffin's Wings, but cannot turn easily. (Think Sion's ult) During that second, Titeus can use Ancient Claws to snatch up enemy champions beneath him with no delay. He carries them along for the ride, dropping them when the effect ends. This, combined with Ancient Claws, is a great ganking tool early in the game. It can be dodged, however, especially if your quarry has a dash/blink. Also, cc (Apart from slows) can shut down Titeus' magnificent gank fairly effectively.
-
R - Protector's Arrival Titeus soars skyward after 2 seconds (5 if taking damage), becoming untargetable. While soaring, re-casting the ability within 2500 units sends Titeus diving into the ground after 1.25 seconds. Enemies near his landing point are thrown into the air and take physical damage. KABOOM! This is Titeus' way of wreaking havoc on the enemy team from halfway down the river, ruining your opponents' day big-time. Unless they dodge it, of course. That's what your teammates are for - locking down enemies with their cc to set you up for an ult. You'll probably hit at least somebody even if they don't.
PLAYSTYLE You will probably head into the jungle and clear camps with Q spam until you're ready to gank. When you are, the E+Q combo will either carry a high-priority target into turret range, make 'em blow a flash/dash/blink, or fail miserably. If you're successful, follow up with a W and your teammates will give you a "gj". You can keep up the good work until something happens and teamfights start popping up. No worries! Ult into those enemies when they're not expecting it and ruin their day. For the most part, you can pull this off from just about anywhere.
Now, about weaknesses... well, if your enemies get fed up and focus you (You're the tank don't fret, that's your job), cc will put your passive out of commission. If they have hard cc, your E becomes mute as an escape. And no, you can't dive through terrain with it :P. Your ult is not meant to be used this way and takes a whopping 5 seconds if you think you can get away with it. Why does it make you invulnerable, then? Well, for thematic reasons - Lee Sin shouldn't be able to kick you out of the sky, should he? No, he's not that good (:D). Damage is also not what your job is, outside of the jungle. CC is your main job, tankiness is for when the enemy team starts hating griffins.
QUOTES As a note, these quotes are from when Titeus had the old kit. I'll revisit them at some point, but they're still cool.
After you click on his picture - "Fight without fear - you are not alone."
Movement quotes - "Ever onwards, never ceasing." "Always look ahead." "You should never stay in one place for long." "Do not fear what the future holds." "Courage lies within every heart." "Rise above your faults." "In times of greatest need, I will be there."
Attack Quotes - "You who would wish harm on this world; beware." "I fight for all that is good." "Fight for a cause beyond your own gain." "Swift Deliverance for the noble, Swift Justice for the evil." "Each life taken in memory of my kin." "There is no turning back now." "We all have a choice. I have made mine."
Joke - "You don't know what it's like to carry people around all day. Most of them either have armor that weighs a ton (
) or weigh a ton themselves." (
)
Taunt - "Siding with them was a terrible mistake on your part."
Dance - Performs a plethora of magnificent aerial acrobatics.
Laugh - He laughs. Surprise, surprise.
Special Interactions - I'm not sure about this part. Maybe say the line from his lore when he taunts a low-health allied
. "There is life in you yet, Garen. Do not throw it away."
SOME LAST WORDS
Thank you for reading the whole post. Unless you just skipped to the end, and are reading this without any idea of what Titeus' kit is. Or maybe you just skipped the lore... ah well. Thank you for reading whatever it is you've read. I've got a poll set up for those of you who like doing that kind of thing.
The lore will be updated when I've got time. I made it when Titeus could grab allies, so I wanted the lore to fit with his kit. I got rid of the ally-grabbing (trolling potential, hard to fit in well), so I'll probably change the lore too. If you can tell me what sort of lore would work well, or what you want to know about him, that'd be great.
EDIT (2/20/2015) Made all the kit changes you prob just read. In his old kit, the Q was the same, the W was an MS steroid, the E was still his picking-up ability, but it was single-target and had no interaction with the Q. The ult was the same, but the passive granted tenacity whenever he used an ability. I've done some thinking since I made the old kit, and now this is what I've got.
As a note, Lord Dusteon's comment was made back when Titeus had the old kit. Nobody else bothered commenting :(.
