Ao Shin ability concept
First of all, I want to thank Riot for making such fun and interesting game that helped me through a lot of boring times. I was rather disappointed to hear that a certain champion would not be released due to design issues. This really bummed me out as i thought his concept was very interesting.
Before I go into detail, I would like to mention that i won't be diving into numbers as much, as I feel that's the a job for the professionals. I'll just be giving the idea, and i do hope it's one that sticks to Ao Shin's concept as i'd hate see that change. I find it very disheartening to see champions who are thought of as powerful or intelligent beings reduced to something less than what they were Implying because of the meta. I'm not saying that just because a champion is assigned to a certain role he/she should stay there, no, all i'm saying is that their roles shouldn't be forcefully molded into something else because of constant changes (direct or indirect) that cause their role in a team to fluctuate into something unnecessary.
Anyways, now the we have been introduced, let us press ON WARDS!
Ao Shin The Storm Dragon
Passive: Alto stream Primary: Allows Ao Shin to move though units. Secondary: Each time Ao Shin cast a spell he gains a stack of alto stream which makes him take reduced damage from enemy projectiles and spells. Ao Shin also takes reduced damage from critical strikes.
Q: Thunderous Roar Ao Shin lets out a roar that sends a bolt of lightning forward which deals damage to all enemies caught in its radius. The ability is click-targeted, but it can chain through minions and champions. It takes priority towards champions once it's used (Kind of like Lucian's Piercing Light). It deals reduced damage to minions, and the damage it can deal to enemy champions reduces to point with each minion it passes through. However, if Ao Shin uses this on a group of champions, the damage stays consistent. The damage also increases based on how many times a champion has been struck by the ability. This only applies for one enemy at a time, so the damage increase resets if you switch focus. Ao Shin also gains a burst of movement speed if this ability strikes a champion. Since he's a storm dragon you don't expect him to be particularly agile, but you would expect him to use the forces of nature to move around swiftly and gracefully. This addition will open the windows he needs to get in and out of fights. So you can strike someone and, just about, get away with it.
W: Gathering Storm
Note: This ability has an ammunition system in order for it to reach the potential needed (it would stack a maximum of three each time, but will quickly recharge back to three if used up at once) Ao Shin sends out an Essence of the Storms onto the field which deals minor damage and explodes on contact with the first enemy unit. Once it explodes a mist settles onto the field for a few seconds and then build up into a storm. Ao Shin can place maximum of three Essence of the Storms on the field at once, however, Ao Shin can place multiple Essence of the Storms in the same area ( a maximum of three) for the storm's effects and behavior to build and change.
Essence of the Storms *1 The Storm deals damage and slows enemy units. Essence of the Storms *2 The storm's radius and damage increase. Essence of the Storms *3 The storm transforms into a tornado, which deals damage a lot quicker over the duration. The slow is also increased.
Champions also have different interactions with the storms based on whether it's an enemy or an ally. Ally: Essence of the Storms *1 Allies receive a burst of movement speed when they walk under the storm. Essence of the Storms *2 Allies gain the movement speed and are shrouded for a few seconds. Essence of the Storms *3 (Tornado) Allies gain the movement speed, the invisibility buff, and attack speed.
Note: These buff also apply for Ao Shin and the buff wears of once they leave the storm.
Enemy: Essence of the Storms *1 Enemies are damaged and slowed for the duration the storm lasts or as long as they stand in that area. Essence of the Storms *2 Enemies are dealt more damage which increases to a certain amount the longer they stand in the storm. The slow is unchanged but this time their vision is reduced. Essence of the Storms *3 (Tornado) Enemies caught in the storm receive the slow and vision. The storm deals more damage than before, which still increases to a cap and deals damage at an increased rate. The slow is also increased, the slow will wear of once they leave the storms vicinity.
Note: Ao Shin can combo his Q: Thunderous Roar with his storms to make the bolt of lightning arc even further. This will also charge the storms with electricity causing them to zap the area below them at random points. These lightning strikes deal damage separately from the storm itself, so it be rather unfortunate for you to just wander under there. :P
E: Aether Tides (Buckle down and hold on, there's a ton here to cover) This ability has two connected ranges; a circular range around Ao Shin and then a straight skill-shot range that he whips up with his tail (Imagine Diana's Moonfall and Sion's Roar of the Slayer fused together). Ao Shin ushers out a gust of wind which shifts the energy in the atmosphere. Allies caught in the circular radius around Ao Shin will be pulled closer toward him. The straight ranged skill shot has no effect on allies. Enemies caught in the circular range around Ao Shin will be damaged and knocked back. The straight ranged skill shot travels through enemies, deals damage, and knocks them aside. Enemies caught by the ability take increased damage from Ao Shin. This ability also cancels channels.
This ability also has different interactions depending on who is caught in it and with what. Allies caught in the radius, and only the circular radius, receive bonus' based on certain buffs the carry with them into the radius. Enemies also get their share of the ability's effects if they get too close.
Heals: If an ally or Ao Shin has just been healed they will receive increased health regeneration. If an enemy has just been healed the ability does more damage to them based on their max health.
Movement Speed: If an ally has just received a movement speed buff they will receive even more movement speed for a short duration. If an enemy has just received a movement speed boost it will be siphoned from them and given to Ao Shin and his allies.
Note: If an ally and an enemy, who have their own movement speed boosts, enter the abilities range, Ao Shin will siphon the movement speed from the enemy, give the boost to his ally on top of their movement speed, and then give them the extra boost from the ability. It should work hand-in-hand.
Shields: If an ally receives a shield, Ao Shin will extend the duration of the shield. If an enemy enters the ability range with a shield, any shield, (yes i'm looking at you Morgana), Ao Shin will siphon the shield and share it among his allies. This also works hand-in-hand if an ally and an enemy have their own shields.
Aether Tides also reduces the duration of crowd control effects for Ao shin and his allies, but allies and only allies, will take reduced damage for a few seconds if caught in the abilities radius.
Ao Shin can also cast this spell even if under hard crowd control effects (just in case you might dread something like a level 6 Nautilus gank ^).
Now the reason why Ao Shin would have two connected ranges for Aether Tides is to give the opportunity to move his storms around. Say you're in a situation where the enemy Teemo or Yasuo has just escaped with a sliver of heath, and there's no way you can reach him under that tower. Well with Aether Tides, that won't be a problem at all! :D With this ability Ao Shin can command his storms to move in any preferred direction so he can cover all areas of the fight. So he can use straight skill shot part of the ability to send the storms in a straight direction. Enemies caught in it's path will be knocked up instead of being knocked aside. However, if you want the storm to move in a more circular fashion, all Ao Shin has to do is cast the ability but this time ensure it's a lot closer to him inside the circular radius of the ability.
Note: The storms will move back and forth from the original point to their commanded point, in a sort off trooper-like movement. the storms also deal damage to enemy structures, but the damage would be GREATLY reduced. We wouldn't want players to be sitting in the brush while constantly sending dust-devils out to do their bidding now do we? :P Also, the reason why Aether tides pulls allies toward Ao Shin is because i would imaging a situation where an ally on low health is about to meet with an Ashe arrow or Jinx rocket etc. and you could save them if you just used the ability to pull them out of harms way, but i do understand where this addition would be very touchy if all players would do is just use it to deny their teammates from reaching their objectives.
R: Transcendent Heir Passive: Ao Shin gains bonus ability power, movement speed, and cool-down reduction.
Ao Shin gathers all his energy for a few seconds, while he does this he sends forth a devastating tempest which deals damage on impact and then over-time damage. Enemies will be constantly slowed while they're in the storms vicinity, and the storm will constantly pull them closer and closer to it's center. Once they reach the heart of the storm they will take even more damage, the slow will be doubled and they will be briefly stunned. All storms that Ao shin previously had from his W will be absorbed by this one, if they are close enough, to increase it's duration on the map. Ao Shin cannot change this storms course with Aether Tides, so once it reaches it's destination it stays there. This storm also spawns with it's own lightning, so using Thunderous Roar on it wont charge it, he can still do it to get the extra range though. after this turbulent gale has been set on it's course, Ao Shin becomes charged with all his energy giving his abilities additional effects and also giving him a boost for the thick of the fight. Ao Shin gains maximum stacks of Alto Stream. Enemies who get too close or attack him are damaged by his empowered aura.
Q: Thunderous Roar (Empowered) Enemies struck will be briefly stunned and are dealt bonus damage, they cannot be stunned again for a few seconds.
W: Gathering Storm (Empowered) All Essence of the Storms will immediately transform into tornadoes when summoned. Ao shin can also have a fourth storm on the field, but only when empowered. The storms follow him around if until they are put on a desired course. The storms will continue to follow him around if Transcendent Heir ends until they peter out or if Ao Shin summons another storm which surpasses the maximum limit.
E: Aether Tides (Empowered) The Range and damage is greatly increased.
R: Transcendent Heir Ao Shin can re-cast this ability up to three times, before it goes on cool-down, to dash through enemies dealing damage to them. He can also use this ability to dash through walls.
Note: Ao Shin also gains increased size and has an electrical or charged look when he activates Transcendent Heir.
Well that's my idea of Ao Shin. If you took the time out read it, Thank You. It took me a lot of effort and thinking to come up with this concept. I don't know the exact type of problems the creators ran into while making Ao Shin, but i hope this helped somehow, and i hope to see him on the Rift Soon. Thanks once again and have a lovely day. :)
(P.S. i think it would be cool if Ao Shin had the same voice as Infernal Nasus ;p)
