Gamemode for charity
Hello everybody!
Riot just announced the Championship Ashe skin and when I was reading the anounncement article I read a quote that got me thinking.
We also partnered up with these charities to develop specific projects and goals we can fund, track, and achieve together.
Why don't Riot make a endless singleplayer gamemode where the player gains points by playing the game and reaching higher levels. When the game is over the gained points get saved and put in a leaderboard where the player can search not only his own score but the score of his friends aswell.
But what does this have to do with the partnership between Riot and the charities? Well after this gamemode has ended. All the points that the playerbase has gained by playing this gamemode gets added up. Then Riot proceeds to pay $x per x amount of points. Example:
Total points: 100.000 Riot pays $5 per 1.000 points 100.000 : 1000 = 100 100 x $5 = $500
To make this gamemode appealling and competitive for the players Riot could give out rewards to high ranked players. example:
- Top 250-101: exclusive icon
- Top 100-51: exclusive icon, emblem
- Top 50-11: exclusive icon, emblem, emote
- Top 10-4: exclusive icon, emblem, emote and skin with border
- 3rd: all of the above, personal thanks, RP(?)
- 2nd: all of the above, personal t hanks, more RP(?)
- 1st: all of the above, gets invited to LCS as VIP
With all those prices Riot would probably lose a lot of money. And since Riot still is a small indie game company they want to avoid that. The solution I've come up with also tackles another problem some users are having: Having a small amount of RP you can't do anything with.
Players are able to buy power-ups (potions) to help them reach a higher score. The potions have effects that varies from strength, movement speed, health regen etc. For example:
Full Strength potion: Deal 50% more damage the entire game 50RP 1/2 Strength potion: Deal 50% more damage for 10 minutes (activatable item) 27RP 1/4 Strength potion: Deal 50% more damage for 5 minutes (activatable item) 14RP
So players that have some spare RP have a reason to spend it and play the gamemode for a greater cause. While others just buy RP because they want to be the #1.
So yeah, it was just something that came up to me. I'm curious to see your opinions or suggestions.
