Mordekaiser, the greatest worst champ I've ever played.

I don't post on the boards often, (if at all really.) and I usually spend my time with league either playing or just glancing at the boards, and I come to respect some of the kindred love for the champion who loves to hate, Mordekaiser. The Black King, The Iron Revenant, (In my heart) The Master of Metal. I remember the day I first picked him as well, as a Garen main I remember my friend who was a bronze 4 Yasuo main with a couple months if not a year more experience at the game than me, being freshly level 30 I had remembered I just got the 'Dragon Knight' skin from the shop, and buying him when the double IP weekend had begun, but I didn't play with it, instead I remembered reading the champions concept, thematic and etc. Painting an image in my head of a towering warlord of equal physical might and magical prowess. I can remember the contrast I felt when I did away with the polished and pristine armor of the Might of Demacia, and instead donned a much heavier, blacker armor with the visage of death molded into it into the shape of demonic, evil skulls. His armor looked as if it had spent many days in fire then cooled by the air of the darkest parts of Runeterra, he never once seemed to me as someone who would hold his physical self into any high esteem, he knew he was bigger, and from the name of his Mace he took much better care of it than himself. Now fast forward 4 minuets of my noobie self getting dashed over by a Yasuo I remember feeling disappointed, not in the champion, but myself. Over the next week I would have spammed the champion religiously, not caring about the state my play and always just looking to improve on basic things, I remember reaching 20/20 of my games in match history as him, thinking that if I played him like I did I would learn to master the Master of Metal. Though granted this was all long after the Morde rework and I amassed my 1.2 Million mastery in a total of just under a year and a half. Now I wont talk about game state but honestly, I feel I've been far too quiet a voice in the community of both my Mordekaiser mains and Boards community, but that wont mean I will conform to everything this community says, as I have my own ideals that I will stick to despite my respect for more vocal members such as Malicious Metal.

CONCEPT

Mordekaiser, the Iron Revenant is a strikingly tall figure with a hulking frame and resides as a hateful spirit inside a suit of old, sturdy armor. His armor suggests to me that he commanded fealty out of those he allowed to survive in his court with the help of fear and misery, and for those who wouldn't submit he would break and find a more...suitable use for their spark of defiance amongst the many undead spirits he commanded. In my eyes he is not one for flashy gimmicks or a dependence on those around him, and this is a flaw in my own eyes as in lore the towering warlord instead relies on the ones he's betrayed and enslaved for revival, and when he was felled for the last time it wasn't until the longest time that they were the ones to resurrect him once more, and for a necromantic warlord it seems rather unfitting that he would fight alone and yet rely on his first enemies to awaken him after every defeat he suffered in the battlefield. And in game this kind of dependence falls in well in terms of the nonsensical way it does in lore, he relies on others on his team just as much to achieve his goal and be there for his downfall just as much as he does for his ghosts to prolong his place on the seat of power, wiping teams in seconds if done right, and crumpling like a tin can if he fails to play around his strengths or is bested on his own.

MY IDEALS

My Ideal direction for the massive man of metal and death would be away from the design space of a 'Ghost King' and more on the 'Undead Warlord' quote, he spends his days viewing the black shadow of his old empire, the husk that seemed to replace his tyranny for one very similar at first before turning to a much less warmongering and more adaptive and diplomatic approach towards its politics, though not in any way a peaceful place, Noxus seems to have its most bloody battles within itself in a never ending struggle for power amongst its nobility. And this is something that plays to his hand, instilling a 3 part govern in Noxus to prevent an all-powerful figure like him from rising, in my eyes he would view this type of govt. pointless and a pathetic waste, he never will rely on an heir thanks to his immortality and never be concerned about the credibility of his name and status as he is the one and only power in the citadel that was the Immortal Bastion, and therefore if any would doubt his worth they likely were met with a brutal raiding and death, thanks to his title as a Barbarian King. His outlook on life and everything that lives would be stained with disdain and marked as potential to further his empire, much like how he opportunistically took advantage of the mist and is implied that he commands it for his own purposes. Being forced to watch everything he worked for over the centuries of his reign changed and made in a general distasteful mockery of everything he made it to be must insult him, and only anger him further as he sits on a throne of bones and constantly thinks about what is to be his when he returns to the lands he spent ravaging, how much more there must be to take and destroy must constantly be floating in his mind, and with the time he's spent watching his insight must put him above some muscle headed brute and even bring him to rival the intelligence of individuals such as Swain himself, though he is compelled to do what he wants, not what he feels like he must, and his stubborn nature would make it worth the countless years he must endure on the desolate rock, planning to wipe out the opposition of Yorick Mori and other remnants of an age long gone since the Isles used to hold the faintest glimmer of hope, the landscape as twisted as his morals and convictions, eager to once more feel bone crack underfoot and the thud of body against his weapon and floor. He isn't about the glam of nobility or the greater good through necessary evils like Swain or Vladimir, he instead embraces the evil he is and always was and uses it to fuel his conquests of glory.

For those who read through this monster I thank and wish luck, Sincerely, AbyssmalHydra

Love the energy here- truly. I love Mordekaiser, even though I sucked at him, and I'd love for him to have a better space in the meta. Unfortunately, the current meta highly favors mobility, burst, and tank. Normally, you'd think Morde would do fine- having two of those- but... That mobility part really screws him. He doesn't have any CC or dashes, making him next to useless against people who play intelligently against him.

I actually had a rework concept on the backburner, but... Well, tell me what you think.

Passive - The Iron Throne: After 1.5 seconds of sitting still, Morde sits down on his throne. While on this throne, he gains 400-675 attack range and takes 30-50% less damage. Displacements or movement are the only effects to negate this. Whenever Mordekaiser kills a minion while this is active, he summoned a Revenant of it which has half of its HP and damage. It only ever gives 1 gold on kill. Left unattended, Revenants attack Mordekaisers target, if possible, but will otherwise push the lane they are in.

Q - Mace of Spades: Unchanged. This ability is actually pretty well designed. The only stipulation is that it only functions in melee (could still be used on the throne if they came into range).

W - Harvester of Sorrows: Can now be cast on enemy units. This negates the non-active damage element of the ability, but slows them by the same % as Morde gains in movement speed.

E - Siphon Soul: Mordekaiser deals 35/65/95/125/155 +60%AD +60%AP magic damage to all enemies in a cone. For each champion hit, Morde gains a shield equal to 4/4.75/5.5/6.25/7% of his max HP. Passively, when Mordekaiser dies, he instead enters stasis for 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 seconds. If an enemy champion dies within 1000 units of Mordekaiser during this time, he revives- gaining HP equal to the amount of damage he dealt to them in the last 15 seconds.

R - Children of the Grave: Morde commands his army of Revenants- directing their movements. If he participates in the kill of an enemy champion or dragon while this ability is off cooldown, he summons them as a Revenant for the duration of their death timer and sets this ability on cooldown. Champion Revenants gain 100% of Mordekaiser's bonus AD as bonus AD and 15% of Mordekaiser's maximum health as bonus health, and while Mordekaiser has a champion enslaved he gains 25% of their bonus health as bonus health and 30% of their AP as bonus AP. Dragon Revenants gain bonus range and modified movement speed.
