*Hello everyone!

Bobo113 here, and back with another addition to the "coven" collection of champion concepts. Hope you enjoy!

Lore:

If the ancient coven of the Voodoo Lands were to have a spokesperson, some would say that is Methuselah. For a coven that is mostly veiled in secrecy and a looming sense of fear, she seems somewhat oblivious to this popular opinion, and negligent to the woes of commoners in general. She frequents the villages near the forest's border, and barters with herb and food merchants as a regular - never stirring trouble, or causing anything out of the ordinary, besides inviting the occasional sideways glare from suspicious townsfolk. Some say her presence is an intimidation tactic masquerading as kindness - as her movement seeks to find footing on civil soil. Others believe she is just there for supplies.

Methuselah's fellow sisters of garb see these villagers as mere animals who toss and toil in the filth, yet methuselah is sometimes willing to show mercy. She comes to the aid of the town bearing herbal brews and sacred runestones from the ancient forest cave - with which she has successfully thwarted disease and famine on numerous occasions. Perhaps her kindness kept a majority of the existing spite at bay, but it is never enough.

The forest is not a place to be trifled with, and even methuselah, the kind and wise, has little patience for those who enter blindly into the thick wood to seek her sisterhood. She stands her ground with unyielding authority and ruthlessness. Stories warn of the nights after forest raiders return. Cauldrons fly from amidst the treetops, and soar towards the village square. These savage brews erupt deep within populated areas, and rain destruction and agony - be it cleansing by fire, toxin, or other savage methods, Methuselah's ultimatum is made quite clear. Such horror is reserved for those who provoke the potion maker and her woodland kin.

"My sisters do not share my sentiment for the weak, but we agree that the weak should always watch their step." -Methuselah

Appearance:

http://i.imgur.com/aQNeegv.jpg

Methuselah is the potion master of the witch coven. She is short, stubby, draped cloth garb, and has several pockets and satchels for ingredients. She wears a woven basket on her back that she would normally use to harvest and collect the various plants she finds.

Stats:

  • Health: 509 (+82 per level)
  • Attack DamageL 46.7
  • Attack speed: 0.658 (+3.5% per level)
  • Movement Speed: 325
  • Health Regen: 6.2 (+0.5 per level)
  • Armor: 21.3 (+3.5 per level)
  • Magic Resist: 30 (+0 per level)
  • Attack range: 525

Design Philosophy:

Methuselah is a mage/support - a gifted witch who uses weaponized ingredients to make potions and brews. By mixing ingredients, her recipies accomplish different things, such as healing teammates, or exploding with horrific results. Players will need to know how create certain recipes to turn fights in their favor.

Abilities:

Passive: Brew of the Catalyst

Methuselah's auto attacks involve her tossing tiny, watery potions that shatter on contact. Auto attacking enemies afflicted by Methuselah's various attacks will amplify or activate certain effects.

Q: A Pinch of Pyrodust

Methuselah throws a line of sparkling fire in front of her. If it collides with units, it deals initial magic damage upon impact. Afterwards, it burns in a linear area at the end half of its path for a short duration. Enemies caught within the fire take mild magic damage over time for a few moments - for as long as they stand within the AoE

*If Methuselah auto attacks a unit affected by this fire, the burn damage on that unit will reset again, and will continue for an additional 2 second(s), This cannot be reset again on that same target for 16 seconds.

  • Damage (initial impact through the 1st second): 80/120/160/220/300 (+60% AP)
  • Damage for next two seconds (and/or if passive applied): 60/80/120/160/200 (+60% AP)
  • Duration: 3 second(s)
  • Range: 550
  • Mana cost:45/45/50/50/60
  • Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6

W: Root of the War Trent

Methuselah plants a root that stays in a set location as an invisible trap (visible if swept or, or exposed by control wards, etc.). Once planted, it takes a moment to grow into a small sprout before it is ready (at which point it becomes invisible). If an enemy or neutral monster steps over the completed root a massive root thrashes out of the ground to strike - causing a knock-up, and dealing magic damage. After a single use, the root disappears.

*A maximum of 2 can be placed on the map at any given time.

*These traps, like other invisible traps, can be detected with control wards or other vision tools, and destroyed.

For every completed root, a ring appears around it that is visible to Methuselah and her allies. This circle with be referred to as the "thrash" range. It will be explained in a moment.

  • Placement delay: 2.5 second(s)

  • Placement range: 550

  • Trap health: 2 attacks

  • Ability size: 300

  • Strike delay: 0.50 second(s)

  • Damage: 60/90/120/180/300 (+80% AP)

  • Thrash range: 600

  • Mana cost: 55/55/60/65/70

  • Cooldown: 14/13/12/10/8

Methuselah has the choice for the root to perform an alternate attack if the player so chooses. If she auto attacks a target inside of the root's "thrash circle," the root is enraged by the smell of the attack potion. It reveals itself for a half second before thrashing the targeted enemy away and out of the thrash circle with a knock-back - causing a momentary stun, and dealing the exact same magic damage as the standard ability. The root then disappears after this single strike.

  • Stun: 0.5 second(s)

E: Stone of Sacrament

Methuselah reveals a sacred runestone, and can either use it on herself, or toss it to an ally. She uses its blessing to give herself or a selected ally health regeneration for a short duration. The activation of this stone also clears active debuffs that are not stuns or roots from the target, and provides a tiny boost in movement speed. When the stone is active on a champion, a stone appears above the targeted champion's head while the effect is active.

  • Targeting range: 600

  • Projectile speed: 1500

  • Healing: 1%/1.5%/2%/3%/4.5% maximum health per second

  • Speed boost: 10% for 0.5 second(s)

  • Duration: 4 seconds.

  • Mana cost: 70/70/75/80/90

  • Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/13

R: The Great Caldron

Methuselah creates a cauldron in a set location. Only Methuselah can target her own cauldron. While the cauldron is active, she can toss various abilities into it to yield different effects. If she aims at the cauldron with her abilities (or hovers the cursor over them before she casts them), they will automatically be added to the brew if the ability touches the cauldron. Indicators above the cauldron show which ingredients have been added to the brew.

*The cauldron can only be used for a single reaction before disappearing.

  • Cast time: 0.25 second(s)
  • Size: 250 units
  • Placement range: 450
  • Mana cost: 120 at all ranks
  • Cooldown: 80/75/65 (starts after ability concludes)

Once ingredients (abilities) are cast onto the brew, Methuselah auto attack the cauldron to activate the brew. Below are a list of recipes that can be made:

Recipes:

(these don't have to be added in a particular order, except that the auto attack that activates the brew MUST BE ADDED LAST)

Q, Auto: Effigy of Destruction

the cauldron explodes with a massive fire blast - dealing a large chunk of magic damage.

  • AoE Radius: 550

  • Damage: 150/300/500 (+70% AP)

Q, W, Auto: Tainted Miasma

The cauldron explodes with a ring-shaped plum of purple smog. This explosion is less intense, but it slows and poisons all units in its blast radius.

  • AoE Radius: 550

  • Damage: 150/250/350 (+60% AP) over 3 seconds

  • Slow duration: 1.5 seconds

  • Slow: 60%

E, Auto: Blessing of the Monolith

The cauldron breaks with a plume with a radiant, green light, and forms an AoE around the cauldron. Allies in this circle gradually heal for a short period of time. The strength of this ability scales from Methuselah's AP.

  • Radius: 550

  • Healing: 60/100/180 (+30% AP) per second

  • Duration: 3 seconds

E, W, Auto: Wrath of the Forest

The cauldron suddenly cracks apart to summon a "War Trent." Upon being summoned, the trent remains in a stationary position, and mauls targets with its fists - dealing hybrid damage. This trent can be targeted and killed, and has health that scales from Methuselah's max health. This trent lasts a short duration before inevitably sinking into the ground, and disappearing.

*Alternatively, the trent can be killed by two turret shots.

  • Maximum Ability duration: 6 seconds

  • Health: 110% of Methuselah's max health

  • Trent Targeting range: 500

  • Attack speed: 45

  • Damage per attack: 50/75/120 AD (+40% AP)

  • Gold reward (if killed): 65

Brew failure:

If Methuselah adds an incorrect series of ingredients into her cauldron, her brew fails - sputtering out a plume of brown/grey smoke as the cauldron disappears. This brew gives no benefits of any kind, but it reduces the cooldown by 20 seconds.

  • *W, Auto: The brew fails

  • *Q, E, Auto: The brew fails

  • *Q, W, E, Auto: The brew fails

*These malfunction are the reason why it is important to know your brews. Being a master of potions takes concentration, planning, and discipline, but the results are definitely worth it.

Good mental rules to remember:

  • "Roots need seasoning" - since no abilities that feature W work without an additional counterpart ingredient, it is good to think of Q and E as "seasoning."

  • The brew can be "overseasoned" - since no brew with both Q and E in it at the same time will ever work.

Arching Terror

So with these things in mind, after she has thrown the ingredients she wants into her brew, Methuselah can spend extra mana to launch the cauldron at foes with a rush of arcane wind - arcing the cauldron to a targeted location a fair distance away. The landing impact is enough to activate the cauldron without the need for an auto attack.

  • Range: 1200

  • Cost: 50/100/150 mana

Upon selection:

  • It is the task of a brewmaster to stir trouble.

Joke:

  • (probably a visual gag involving a potion or whatnot)

To Singed:

  • Pay attention, novice!

  • I can still see the effort in your failure. That is saying something.

To Mundo/Warwick/Urgot:

  • This is why I avoid the clutches of science altogether.

  • And people of science call witchery a "barbaric" practice. . .

To Fizz:

  • Would you like to help me make my famous Bilgewater Meat Stew? I'll need a knife and a bucket.

To Volibear:

  • That's what I forgot, a blanket. I'm going to need a new one, would you hold still

  • We have all seen terrible things, some more than others.

  • I wish I had brought something to snack on.

  • There is nothing quite like a scenic stroll.

  • Hmmm, there are some interesting smells here.

  • Anything can be useful, you just need to know what to mix together.

  • It is the task of a brewmaster to stir trouble.

  • I can almost taste the arcane forces at play here.

  • There are so many amazing things to find here!

While attacking:

  • To stir the caldron, you need some strong arms.

  • I've got a bone to pick. . . From your cold, dead body.

  • I am glad I brought so many sample glasses.

  • My "Eyes of Night" formula could use some more. . . Eyes.

  • Watch out, you might lose an eyebrow!

While brewing ult:

  • Toil and trouble.

  • What concoction will I conjure up today?

  • Let's get this brew a' stirring.

  • Now watch closely.

If brew fails:

  • Oh no, not this again.
  • It looks like I'll have to try again.
  • Note to self; that one doesn't work.
  • Hmmmm, I'll get it right next time.

Methusela has been in the works for a little while now - not as long as some of my others, but it has still been quite the journey from start to finish. I have 6 more concepts in my creative pipeline with full kits already finished, and 2 newer ones with partial concepts fleshed out. I have to do some finishing touches whenever I have sufficient time. I'll hopefully be putting them up soon, but in the meantime, here is my other witch champion thus far:

Marion - The Seamstress of Fate

Here are some of my other champions as well:

Felix - The Anthrophage

Yok'Mal - The Mechanized Scourge

Esroph - The Proclaimer

Anaxirum - The Fallen Idol

Bo Zhong - The Blazing Sentinel

Any feedback helps! Thanks for reading!

The witch coven will soon be complete. . .

i like the story and concept. she seems hilarious. her basic abilities by themselves don't seem very unique or memorable but when combined with her ultimate i think it would make her a very satisfying utility mage. my suggestions for improving the concept are:

  • her using her ultimate to combine her basic abilities into stronger abilities is a very unique concept that should be developed further. you can do this by adding interactions between herself, her spells, her allies, and her enemies. for example, instead of making her potion create an aoe heal you can make it more interesting by making it also create brush. or you could give her trent the ability to use a blitzcrank type hook skillshot on command.

  • since her ultimate is her defining ability, make sure she can use it fairly often by giving it a relatively low cooldown and mana cost.

  • more clearly destinguish the gameplay function of her brew mixes. for example, you could design one brew for enganging a teamfight, one brew for disengaging a team fight, one brew for seiging towers, and one brew for doing something ridiculous like teleporting an allied champion to it.

if you have time, check out my new concept as well http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/Rj3Wuwkv-apcrit-witchdoctor-champion-concept

I've got my next witch-themed champion coming out tomorrow. She will be the last of the series before I dive back into other themes. I will be including concept art from the whole coven project - stay tuned!

I love this idea. Have you thought of having her ulti available at level 1 like karma? the only thing that i think looks too strong is the health regen rune. the healing seems way too strong and up too often.

Seems like a pretty cool concept, definitely well thought out and planned. I've always imagined a Brewmaster as being more potions than strange alchemical substances, but I suppose it depends on the person. You listed that she's a witch though, so I'm gonna assume that's really what she is. Anywho, great work on this!
