Hello Again all, this is me writing a lore update since some were interested in the character lore and I figure i might as well expand in both personality and story so as to create more interest in the character. For the original post containing the kit details and base story, please visit this page and, yes I am still open to ideas as to how to improve on the concept.

Aurum Kit Concept

Now onto the expanded lore.

Aurum, or the boy who would become Aurum, was born to a Demacian noble who took a year long trip outside of the city's great anti magic walls to visit the bustling hub of Bilgewater and talk with traders. During his trip, the noble was visited in his dream by a demonic being that seduced him and took a piece of his life force. Nine months passed and a strange baby boy with the noble's dazzling blue eyes appeared before him, with a note from the a being unknown to the noble. The note claimed him as the son of the noble from a rather strange dream he had so many months ago, and the noble would have none of it. Crying out against the very notion of having a child of demon spawn as a son, he dared to kill the child in its bassinet, but a local woman, a native who had lost her child in the last Harrowing threw herself over the baby to protect it from the Demacian's rage. Eventually, the noble decided to leave the hell seed with the woman, giving his son only one memento from himself. A name he deemed fitting for a demon's creation, Asomod. Soon, he departed, returning to Demacia and its safe walls, knowing full well that no demons could follow him there.

The boy, Asomod, was taken in by the woman, Ngaire. She had lost her husband to the Harrowing as well, the two had been on their way to sanctuary when ghostly chains wrapped around their legs and dragged them into the fog. On her own, she struggled to earn enough coin to feed herself and her new son, as well as raise the child. And though their lives were faced with many hardships, the two were happy together, Asomod was unable to attend a proper school, so he spent his free time playing with other children of poor families, and running around the bustling trade port, watching the endless exchange of coins between all sorts of people. As time went on, Asomod came to understand the value of gold and why it having little of it put such a strain on Ngaire. That was when Asomod stepped into the world of business. He spent many days running to the lower docks to retrieve discarded weapons and equipment, clean them, then sell at his own, makeshift stand. Many days would go by and he would find no success, but occasionally, a passerby would either be stupid or take pity of the poor boy and purchase one of his wares. Every piece of gold went to a bag he planned to surprise Ngaire with on her birthday, and he knew she would love it.

Then one day, while he peddled his wares, several young boys and girls in rather nice attire and regal appearance visited the little spot where he had set up shop and began asking him a multitude of questions, curious as why he was there and not in a school. When the boy name came up, that's when things got serious.

Later that day, Asomod stumbled through the door into his home, where Ngaire was cooking dinner, when Ngaire turned to greet him, she was shocked to find him covered in bruises, cuts, blood, dirt and tears. He told her some kids from some place called Demacia had heard his name and began shouting at him, calling him a demon and beating him. And if that wasn't enough, they took his collection of gold and began throwing it into the ocean, claiming that a Demon's stolen goods were better off with the fish. The only coins saved were the few Asomod still gripped tightly in his hand. Ngaire desperately tried to comfort her son in his pain, but he didn't just want comfort, he wanted answers. Why had they called him a Demon? Wyhy had they taken his hard earned gold? why had they beaten him so badly? And so Ngaire told him why, she told him that he was abandoned by the man who had named him, and confirmed for him that she was not in fact, his real mother. She promised him that she didn't know that his name meant such a horrible thing and apologized to him for allowing such a thing to transpire. Asomod told his mother he wanted a new name, something better than the branding his father had given him, and she asked him what he wanted as a name. He wracked his brain for hours searching for a good name, something he liked, and he remembered a word that was occasionally muttered during trade deals whenever gold was passed, a word that rolled off the tongue nicely. He chose the word Aurum as his name, and Ngaire gladly began to refer to her son by his new name.

Years passed by again and slowly, Aurum was beginning to make a name for himself as a low level, rookie peddler. At sixteen, he was developing into quite the handsome man and feeding his ever growing knowledge of people and trade. Many a time he stole the hearts of the people around him, which made peddling his wares even easier. He and Ngaire were living better then, he brought in coin to help her with life and so they were able to live in modest comfort, as Ngaire got older, she struggled to work as hard as she had in her younger days. But Aurum was there with her every step of the way, motivating her to go on, despite his insistence she not push herself. Aurum was worried about her, one day she might push herself to far and get into an accident, and he did not want that to happen under any circumstances. He desperately sought a way to make enough money to give her an early retirement, that way she could live the rest of her life in comfort.

Soon, Aurum found what appeared to be his chance, a beautiful, jewel encrusted blade, laying on a pier, surrounded by the bodies pirates who had been fighting over it, but none had lived to carry it off. He took the blade and made a run for home, the prospect of all the gold it would make excited him, and he thought about which person he would approach first, as well as how to make sure he received a fair price. He sat in his room for hours, considering everything that someone could pull to stiff him, when outside of his room, Ngaire screamed. Aurum bolted out the door and watched as two, burly pirates knocked Ngaire aside and began ransacking their home. Aurum sprinted towards them, and attempted to fight the pirates, only to be swatted away from them like gnat. The pirates stopped ransacking the place and stood over shaking body of Aurum as a third pirate entered their home. This pirate was definitely more important than the other two, much more important, he wore a long, red tail coat, brandished a quality pistol and a kero-soaked cutlass. There wasn't a person in Bilgewater who didn't know who this Pirate was, and Aurum's blood ran cold at the sight of him.

Gangplank, Pirate King of Bilgewater was standing before him, an orange sitting in his hand.

The Reaver king demanded the return of something that belonged to him, the priceless blade Aurum had found earlier. Aurum fell before the pirate and begged for forgiveness, he claimed ignorance, and promised that he had no intention of stealing from Gangplank. The pirate stepped on the boy's hand and leaned down so that his lips were near Aurum's ear.

"I don't care about your damn excuses, just give me what is mine."

Aurum nodded silently at the pirate and bolted to his room and grabbed the blade, he handled it as carefully as he could and presented it to Gangplank, hoping the nightmare would end. Luckily for Aurum, the blade was still in near perfect condition, and the blood from the fight had been cleaned off, giving it back its sheen. So, Gangplank was merciful with Aurum, and only gave him a light punishment. He gripped the boy by his right hand and with one one swift movement, threw the orange into the air, grabbed his sword, and cut the boy's hand clean off. Aurum screeched out in pain as blood spurted out of the open wound, the ability to stand left him and he fell to the floor. Gangplank gripped the Orange that fell back into his open hand and squeezed it until the juice seeped out of fresh cracks, and onto Aurum's new stump. The pirate king then turned around and stepped out the door, his crewmates followed suit, leaving Ngaire and the bleeding Aurum alone once again. Ngaire moved desperately to patch the wound and stop the bleeding, but Aurum's writhing made it difficult.

It was then, that Aurum received the first, and only gift he would ever receive from his true mother. the bleeding on his arm began to slow and magic formed around the stump. There, a new hand formed on the boys body, almost exactly the same as his real hand, but a golden color, and flowing with magic. Soon the pain had gone and Ngaire and Aurum were left, staring in awe at his new hand, Aurum had no way of knowing where the hand had come from, so he assumed it had come from some latent, magical power within him. With his new hand, Aurum was able to harness the inner arcane power within him and manifest it into abilities that fit him nicely. His newfound power allowed the boy to dive deeper into the town's seedy belly and come out practically unscathed, and with new wares in tow.

At the age of 22, Aurum had earned enough money to allow Ngaire that comfortable life he desperately wanted for her. And while he could have stayed with her and lived a relatively good life in Bilgewater, the young merchant wanted to see the world, to see foreign markets and wares, learn new techniques and meet new people. So he bid his adoptive mother adieu, and set out with a few wares on his back, to see the world and sell anything and everything he could.

Aurum is now 27 years old and plays a part in just about every economic upheaval that occurs in Runeterra. He is also a notorious playboy.
