An Enchanting Mage [Lulu Ability Kit Concept]

I think the problem with champions like Lulu and Janna as only a couple of examples is in the fact that they are given everything in their kits rather than focus on one identity and go all in on that idea. This is probably the reason why supports feel one-dimension and has no skill expression about them, and to clarify skill expression means that one player can play a champion differently than another player and does not necessarily mean they need to require a sick amount of skillz to play as them.

For Lulu, she is supposed to be an enchanting mage, but right now that identical is a bonus after thought rather than her identity because she has so much added stuff to her kit which both takes up her power budget and clouds her unique strengths. I think Lulu would be cooler as a champion, and less frustrating to go against when strong, by taking away a lot of her utility and add new utility that goes all in on an enchanting mage play style. This means Lulu will be picked to buff up her allies and make them stronger rather than protecting and keeping her allies alive, someone like Taric, Alistar or Braum could be protectors which is feeting as they are tanks so defensive champions playing a defensive role for their team makes sense where as a mage you see as a damage dealer so a supportive mage will be making their allies deal more damage.

There are other exceptions for mages like Zilean can revive an ally or Soraka focused on healing or big player makers with crowd control ultimates like Orianna, but you get the idea.

Lulu Point Form for My Goals:

  1. Focus on one idea and remove unneeded fluff that does not support that idea.

  2. Make Lulu not super frustrating to play against, aka hitting her safety she produces for herself and her allies, in exchange for offense / offense buffing to be less of a jack-of-all-trades and instead of a specific reason to get picked rather than being the strongest in certain metas.

  3. Incorporate Pix in a better way for the kit, i.e. one way to do this is by splitting Q damage up and both skill shots can damage the same target granting a choice between extending your range with Pix for less damage or getting in closer for double the damage. Keeping the slow or removing it can go either way, but I would like to see a world where the slow is removed for a different debuff.

  4. Rework the defensive abilities to something else, and polymorph is cool but is it needed for Lulu? In a vacuum, absolutely nothing wrong with polymorph and the way it is used and gets applied, but polymorph may not be in the best spot for Lulu to have it and probably be better to be placed on a different champion and just add more purple in its place.

Basic Attack Range: 575 units Attack Speed: 0.644 +2% per level Movement: 335 units per second Base Attack Damage: Very Low

Pix, the Faerie Companion (Passive):

Pix is a faerie that follows Lulu around!

When Lulu basic attacks then Pix will attack the same target with 3 magic bolts, but his attacks can only damage the first enemy in their path, each bolt dealing 5 - 20 (+10%AP) magic damage.

The Taste of Purple: Enemies struck by Pix's attacks and abilities receive The Taste of Purple for 3 seconds.

Glitterlance (Q): Cooldown: 5/4.5/4/3.5/3 seconds; Cost: 35/40/45/50/55 mana; Range: 1000 units

Lulu and Pix both unleash blasts of magical glitter in the target direction, dealing 40/55/70/85/100(+35%AP) magic damage, the same target can take damage from both glitter.

The Taste of Purple: Makes inflicted targets take 4/8/12/16/20(+10%AP) bonus magic damage on hit from any champion basic attack or damaging ability.

Whimsy (W): Cooldown: 20/16/12/8/4 seconds; Cost: 70 mana; Range: 1000 units

Lulu enchants the target allied champion or herself for 4 seconds, granting 30%(+10% per 100AP) bonus movement speed, 40% increased ability power and 10% increased attack damage.

When Whimsy is cast against the same target within the last 14/12/10/8/6 seconds then all bonuses are halved.

Send, Pix! (E): Cooldown: 11/9.5/8/6.5/5 seconds; Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana; Range: 650 units

Active: Lulu sends Pix to the target, ally or enemy, for the next 3 seconds.

Enemy Cast: Pix deals 70/100/130/160/190(+65%AP) magic damage and applying True Sight.

Ally Cast: Pix grants the target 50/60/70/80/90% bonus attack speed and their basic ability casts have their cooldown reduced by 30/35/40/45/50%. When the target is an allied champion, then Pix will attack with the target that he is following rather than with Lulu's attacks.

The Taste of Purple: Attacks and damaging abilities against inflicted targets deal 10/15/20/25/30% increased damage against shields and applies grievous wounds for 0.75 second.

Purple Power (R): Cooldown: 90/60/30 seconds; Cost: 100 mana

Lulu and Pix creates a powerful purple beam between them, polymorphing struck enemies caught in between for 3 seconds and dealing 150/200/250(+100%AP) magic damage.

(Polymorphed targets cannot attack or cast abilities and move 60 units per second slower.)
