What exactly do people want in a duo champion?

I see players complain about how Kindred and Quinn don't fulfill the duo fantasy. I like how Kindred is in game, but that's because I don't seem to want what other players want. I've even seen people say that Kayn is a better duo champion. So what do people have in mind?

Do people want someone like Cho'Gall, from Heroes of the Storm? Two players play one character, with one moving while the other attacks. That might be possible in game, but I can only see that happening for the bot lane, and with voice chat.

Would players rather have one person control two characters? Similar with summoned ultimates, but maybe you use either the item slots or alt-q/w/e/r to use their abilities?

Maybe the simplest way is to have a champion like Elise, where you can transform, but instead you swap places and use entirely different abilities? Like a tag team fighting game, you can swap, but don't regain health unless you're playing the character?

First off Cho'Gall is the single most fun, most retarded, most infuriatingly awesomely hilariously enragingly fun champion in any moba

For those who don't know about Cho'Gall, he's a champion who is controlled by two people, one person controls the body which is a mega tanky mega damagey dude, the other controls the head which is a mage. Inherently imbalanced because he's balanced against lack of coordination, a cho can easily "1v3"

there is literally nothing riot could do to top that concept

maybe a support who latches onto people

Personally, and I realize it is extremely difficult and not really feasible, I would want two separate yet tethered entities that you can movement control individually (similar to being able to control both Shaco and his Clone). So in the idea of Kindred, they would have both a Lamb and Wolf entity that are separate with different yet similar abilities, of which you can choose from by either Q/W/E or cntrl+ Q/W/E and a shared ult.

You should try reposting this in Gameplay, I think it'd gain a bit more traction there.

For Quinn, ideally I'd like some sort of transformation mechanic that allows you to play as Valor. Going from a kitey Marksman to a swift melee Assassin was a lot of the fun old Quinn had to offer, and played into their dual champion/tag team theme. However, if a simple R transformation a la Nidalee or Elise wouldn't work, then maybe something like Kled's transformation would be cool too, where the transform doesn't necessarily involve switching from Quinn to Valor, but rather Quinn assuming different stances that affect how she plays alongside Valor. I actually think this version would make the most sense for a falconer character.

Kindred's lore gives me the impression that they take 'turns' with their targets. Each victim requires a different side of the Kindred, so at any given moment, enemies should be fighting either Wolf or Lamb. This definitely means a transformation champion with two different kits, or at least two slightly altered base kits (like Shyvana or Kayn). If the victim tries running, Wolf takes over as a sustained damage-dealer; a skirmisher-type melee champion who excels at chasing fleeing prey. If the victim stays, Lamb swiftly bursts them down with her arrows, providing them with a swift death. My gripes with this idea? It's a lot like pre-rework Quinn and Valor (which, according to Riot, was not good design) and also makes Wolf feel like a mini-Warwick rather than his own unique character. I wouldn't know how else to reconcile the gap between Kindred's story and gameplay though.

Well, Xayah/Rakan is an interesting way to do it -- separate champions who interact to be slightly stronger with each other.

But I think a large part of is is that Kindred and Quinn both feel like one champion with a little help from another. Compare to Orianna, where the ball feels like a hugely important part of her kit -- moreso than Wolf feels like an important part of Kindred's kit, for example.

So often I think it's a matter of desiring more interaction and more presence from the second half of the duo, however it ends up being implemented.
