Hi there Crispy Leaves!
So I've had a read over your concept, and it still looks like a work in progress. You're on a good track, so I thought I'd give you my review of it:
Champion Concept Overall:
So what you've made is a melee assassin with highly reliant auto attack spells and high mobility.
Plus I think I know the type of weapon you mean - it's almost like a smaller glaive like Sivir has. Except slightly less flashy, less big, and something on a string/chain that can rewind back to Adhara.
Nice name by the way, it's nice. I do suggest looking at the title for Adhara though - The Snow's Fortitude. That in itself makes me think of a frost juggernaut, a tank or a fighter - not an assassin. Maybe something along the lines of a shifting wind or a sharp blade - like The Blizzard's Edge or The Winter Tempest.
Now onto abilities! Here we go:
Passive Ability: Frozen Blades
- Firstly the name jumps out. It's very generic, not very original in it's name. Don't get me wrong, some names are good simple. Like Gnar's Leap or Brand's Sear. It may be something to keep in mind for future reference.
- Your passive is a bit like a Mordekaiser's Mace of Spades, except it keeps on stacking. I suggest that if you're gonna keep this passive, either do one of two things: 1) Put a stacking limit on it so the damage doesn't get out of hand; or 2) Put a time limit on it, so the mark only last so long and you have to do as many auto attacks in this time as you can. If you choose option 2), the I would suggest a cooldown on this ability too.
- Your damage ratio is really high. If I might suggest, the ratio would look better if it were: ... dealing Adhara's Level (+0.25 bonus Attack Damage) x number of basic attacks damage... This would give a low scaling early, and a high scaling late game without it being over the top.
- Lastly, your damage is true damage. That make it really hard for tanks to build against her. I recommend shifting this to physical damage, or (if you want to make it difficult for tank to build against you without it being impossible) shift it to magic damage. By putting an AD ratio on an ability that deals magic damage is a good way to make a champion hybrid damage while building Attack Damage - a good example of this is Shyvana.
First Ability: Crystal Slash
- Okay just to clear this up, Skarner's Q or 1 ability is already named Crystal Slash. I suggest changing this to something else.
- I like the tapering idea, it's unique as far as boomerangs go. It's like crossing an Aatrox Blades of Torment with a Sivir Boomerang Blade. I suggest you make one more aspect about it unique, otherwise it just feels like a lesser version of Sivir's ability.
- I suggest adding damage values, scaling, cooldowns and mana costs, to get the feel for whether this would be viable.
- For a future note, with Sivir's Boomerang Blade it's damage reduction goes down to 40%, instead of being reduced by up to 40%. In case you wanted to get that aspect right.
- Generally people's first (Q or 1) abilities are levelled up first or max'd first ( I use the term generally loosely, I do acknowledge not all champions are like that) Try give people a reason to max this ability out beyond it's first point, and give people a reason to max this ability 1st/2nd/3rd/4th.
Second Ability: Calculated Dive
- The name is unique, and describes your ability well so good work there!
- The move mechanics are exactly the same as a Vayne Tumble, except it can go over small walls. It does proc with your passive though in a unique way which is nice. Bring something diverse to this ability to separate it from Vayne.
- This ability has no real reason to be upgraded beyond the first point because there is no scale to it. Just as an example, instead of 50%, make it 30/40/50/60/70%. Give people a reason to level this ability.
- Same as before, you might wanna add cooldown and mana cost values to make this seem decent or not.
Third Ability - Thin Ice
- So firstly, the name is unique as far as I'm aware. However, I do suggest picking a name more suited to the move. To use an earlier example, Vayne's Tumble is named that way because she rolls or tumbles in her ability. Same with Gnar's Leap, which is named that way due to knar bouncing/jumping/leaping when he uses that ability. Try relate the name to the ability if you can.
- Now defence stats aren't really a common thing on assassins, especially armour and magic resist buffs. With his passive, you should relate the passive to the champions role - in this case as an assassin. Things like higher AD, attack speed, movement speed, speed on-hit, damage on first strike; they all make fair assassin passive kits. Maybe replace it with something that will scale well with another ability. For example, if this was an Attack Speed Buffer, it would work well with your passive, letting you attack more often and proc the effects from Frozen Blades.
- The scaling of the passive and active of this ability - well it doesn't exist. Try add a scaling for the reason of (as stated above) giving players a reason to max this ability, and to max it in a particular order from it's other abilities.
- The active is exactly like the Summoner Spell Cleanse in every aspect. Try doing something new and creative with this ability to match the kit that's already there.
- Add mana and cooldown reduction values, like the others.
** Ultimate Ability - Frejordian Fortitude**
- First thing I noticed about the name was that you have doubled up the name Fortitude with both your ultimate ability and Adhara's title. May want to keep that in mind. Plus I'm not sure how to refer to the Freljord as a people, but I'm sure you could have just worded it Freljord's Fortitude or Fortitute of Freljord.
The concept of your ultimate as a whole is amazing, I like it. But there are a few things about it that I'd like to point out:
- No scaling on damage values.
- High amounts of crowd control for an assassin to possess.
- High base damage stats - 250+25% of missing health is a lot of damage! Plus the others might need looking at.
- The 50% reduce cooldown with Crystal Slash is similar to a mechanic found in our new champion, Kindred, who uses her W skill to reduce the cooldown of her Q skill (Sorry for a lack of names on those two abilities! I'm not familiar on Kindred).
- The lack of a reason to level it past level one due to the first reason.
- No ratios on damage (With AD/AP/Max HP/etc..).
- No cooldown/mana cost values added.
A couple of questions on this though:
- Does the aura/area of effect follow the selected champion?
- How long does it last for?
- When does a first hit not qualify as a first hit (The time period before it expires as a "first hit")?
Now my overall opinion on Adhara - The Snow's Fortitude:
She is a very high mobility melee assassin that is hard to pin down due to her Thin Ice ability, is able to take a hit due to the passive of the same ability, ignores most armour values that usually hinder a normal attack damage assassin due to Frozen Blades. She has some unique aspects about her which I encourage you to exploit and flourish with. Some abilities are somewhat similar to other known abilities, some are outright copies (Which are both unintentional, so don't worry about it!). She lacks any scaling for her abilities and, with that, lacks any reason to build her abilities beyond level one. Her crowd control capabilities from Freljordian Fortitute are pretty high and the damage available from Frozen Blades needs to be tweaked a little.
Even though this is a rough copy, I do suggest taking the time to go back and look at your abilities as they are now. The best way to making a good champion is to do one, a mixture, or all of these things:
- Pick a concept around a lore or theme and build upon that. This seems to be what you have done with the Freljord/Frost theme.
- Pick an ability's mechanics that you love and design your other ability's mechanics around that.
- Pick a lane you want to see your champion in. See the abilities other champions who belong in that lane possess.
- Pick a role that you like - in this case assassin. Use this to build a theme and mechanics around. This point goes well with the lane choice, as you can compare other champions of the same role in the same lane, and see how their mechanics work.
For example, take middle lane and assassin. Other mid lane assassins are Fizz, Talon, Zed, Yasuo (To an extent), Kha'Zix, and Akali. Look at their kits, find a common theme amongst all or some of them, develop a unique ability relatable to that common theme, carry on from that.
The most important part I can ever pass on to you is this - Not every concept is perfect first time. Never. Not once. Some may be good, or even great, but never perfect. Do not get discouraged by it, and do not get discouraged by any downvotes you get. Any negative comments you get, use it for positive feedback and make this champion work. If the concept feels like it isn't working, think of something new and unique based around the reasons above about making a new champion concept.
Never give up on what people tell you will never work. If you wouldn't do it in the real world, why would you here?
All the best in future creations, I look forward to seeing more of your work!
