2 champion concepts that explore the vision design space for supports
Leaving these here to hopefully influence others:
- A Psychic Seer - I'd really like to see Riot develop a 'watcher' style support champion, one who's gameplay revolves around controlling her Field of Vision like how Viktor can maneuver his Chaos Storm, Shaco and LeBlanc control their clones, and Annie and Ivern control their summons. Yeah, Malz kinda hits at this theme with his lore, but his gameplay doesn't exactly fulfill the fantasy.
I think it would be fun to scout around with a sort of mobile Clairvoyance, and have her abilities revolve around her FoV's position. If she could Stealth (i.e. invisibility) allies and / or Nearsight enemies and / or get True Sight (all of which are_ more ways of playing with vision_, and thematically appropriate) that would be awesome and we don't have anything like that just yet.
- A Sneaky Thief - I don't mean one of these duel-dagger-wielding, hood-and-leather, grimdark gutterskulk cutpurses (that in reality is just an assassin with a built in gold advantage) that we see so often as concepts here on the Boards and in other games like DnD and WoW, but a much more fun and playful thief, preferably a yordle using a giant key as her firearm (thus making her ranged.)
I imagine her primary vision ability would be a form of looking through a Keyhole - she would effectively Nearsight herself except for a long and straight Line of Sight (extending far beyond her normal vision range) that followed the cursor rapidly (she would be rooted in place for the duration / during the channel). Likewise, she could have a skillshot ability that creates a persistent zone (rectangular in shape) that turns all champions (who enter from the appropriate side) invisible, but at the cost of Nearsighting them. (The idea is that she creates a dark and secret corridor to run down.) Nearsight also has the effect of making a champion feel like she's in the dark, which is suitable for a thief, yeah?
IDK, just some food for thought. I don't see many here or elsewhere posting ideas or concepts that explore the vision design space other than those that do it in a very ham-fisted / brute-force way (this champion creates wards with his abilities!)
