Olyrion, The Weaver's Menace
“Boys! Come inside it’s getting dark out!” The Lady shouted to her kids out in the field.
To her husband sitting in the wicker chair, “They’re gonna hurt themselves out there in the dark one day you mark my words”
“Kids will be kids. As long as they wake up and do what I ask they can play as long as they like” The old man said after taking a sip of his homemade whiskey. “ I don’t hear them anymore” The lady frantically turned her gaze back to the children.
“Mom, what’s that?” one of the boys asked, pointing up upwards at what looked like a speck of something moving very slowly across the darkening canvass of what was turning into the night sky.
“It’s glowing?” The lady said in disbelief.
“Glowing?” The old man stood up and walked outside to look up at what was grabbing everyone’s attention. To himself he whispered “What now”, and fear overcame him for the safety of his kids out in the field.
Just then he heard a shriek from his wife inside, and felt the chilling presence of someone behind him.
“So nice of you to invite me to you home” A deep, creepy voice said followed by a maniacal laugh. “Now what is it that frightened you, old man?” Instead of waiting for a response he continued, “No matter, why don’t I set you free of your fears - for good?” The creepy voice asked in such a manner, he seemed concerned for the old man, but confident like he’s released a man from his fears permanently before.
The old man slowly turned around and gasped at the figure, and pointed a shaky finger upwards. This seemed to stun the unknown figure as he followed the direction. The speck in the sky was larger now. It seemed to be alive, moving with intent. It looked like a cloud of insects guiding something.
“Boys inside! Quikly go upstairs and lock your door, hurry!” The lady forcefully whispered to her kids as they passed her, running inside. The old man stumbled away back into his home as well.

“I’ve never seen anything like that before ‘ Levia whispered to himself. His gaze followed the foreign thing moving across the sky and falling behind the landscape as it reached closer to the ground, out of view.
Levia closes his eyes for a moment and then abruptly opened them. “There you are” he whispered to himself. And just as quickly as he came he was gone from the field.
A few miles away
Shrieks of uncertainty and fear could be heard in all directions. Dread filled the streets following a loud, thunderous crash from something that fell from the sky. More and more commoners are showing up by the minute to see what it is. Lurking behind the corner stands the former Shuriman Emperor Levia. He peers at the figure in the center of everyone’s attention. Intense heat can be felt emanating all around.
Levia winces in pain as an insanely high pitched ringing sounds spreads throughout the area, followed by screams of pain from the others in the area.
Finally, the pieces of material that fell from the sky start to move, shaking, coming back to life. One by one tens, then hundreds of pieces of what looked like metal shards rose up into the air and began to circle the greater mass in the middle. That mass had shape now. All the while everyone was paying attention to the shards, the mass in the middle was alive and it was kneeling,
“I wouldn’t get closer if I were you” Levia said quietly with an ironic tone in his voice, and then he carefully ducked behind some cover.
The ringing noises got sharper and louder and then in an instant the metal shards burst outward cutting through every person watching. In unison, each body hit the ground.
The figure was standing now, looking at his surrounding, surveying. The metals shards began to return to him like pets. Each one became a part of him, constructing a sort of armor for him.
“Very very nice” Levia shouted from afar, slowly applauding the newcomer. One would have thought the newcomer just performed some sort of skit. “Honestly, I haven’t been that entertained in years! Well done!” Levia bellowed as he walked out from behind his cover. “There must have been 10 or 15 of them and you took them all out at once. Truly I am impressed. Let me introduce myself”
The figure turned towards Levia slowly. Metal shards began breaking off it’s body and gaining frenzy. He started walking towards Levia now”
“Woah woah!” Levia shouted with his hand in the air, “There’s no need for any of that my friend”
The figure raised an arm with a fist full of metal, then drew it back and hurled the cluster of shards at Levia. He made contact but when he took a closer look, Levia wasn’t there.
The sound of a knife meeting metal cut the silence. Levia had a blade drawn to what should be the figures throat. “Let me help you friend, there's no reason to be scared” Levia said in a hushed tone, but also breathing heavily now. “We both can do some extraordinary things, I think we can be of use to each other, don’t you--” Levia was cut off as the unknown figure exploded into hundreds of metal shards, sending Levia flying backwards. Levia slowly got up, the metal shards were regrouping again now reconstructing the figure.
“Scared? You don’t know what I’m capable of, you should be the one who's scared” It finally spoke.
Although wounded and bleeding, Levia smiled. “I can see you'd rather hide that emotion. Smart, but you don't have any idea what I am capable of, and trust me you can't hide your fear from me” He said with a much more menacing voice. Levia raised his arms again but this time with purpose. Clouds formed immediately and a blue bolt of arcane energy struck the fallen bodies all around. Arcane energy began to flow from them to Levia regenerating his strength and fixing his wounds. This seemed to impress the figure, as his shards returned to him becoming apart of him once more.
“You are no peasant, nor are you a weaver. That kind of power is something I’ve never seen before, and I’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen hundreds of worlds just like this one, but you seem different. What are you then?’’ It asked.
“A weaver? HAH! They haven't been around since before I was ruler. My friend, I am Levia! Forgotten Emperor of Shurima, Resurrected a god of Men, the First Baccai!” Levia was laughing now, “This world’s retribution!” Levia’s chest was heaving with each breath. “I have a feeling your ambition aligns with my own, so, why don’t you tell me who you are?”
“I, am called Olyrion. Tell me, what do you know about the weavers from before your time - friend?” Olyrion asked with genuine curiosity.
"Their tyranny was long over by time I took the crown. And that must have been centuries ago, I've only recently awoken from my slumber. I do know where we can start to look if it is a weaver you are looking for." After finishing his sentence, he looked over at Olyrion who was grinning. Then Olyrions body began to split into metal shard, this time with elegance. The metal shards moving like a flock of birds started to fly away. There stood Levia, catching his breath, smiling. “This is going to be fun” He closed his eyes, and then he was gone too.
#Character Story
“Next” Lord Ryphen said with an annoyed tone.
A family in scrappy clothing moved forwards, pushed by men in armor carrying spears with tips of sharpened rock. Each member, a Mother and father 2 sons, one soon to be an adult while the other was barely a teenager.
“Great weaver, this one was caught fighting an official. Thermine told us the little one tried to make off with extra rations.Thermine would have had his fingers but the older boy knocked him out. They deserve” but the soldier was cut off by the sudden lethargic wave of the weavers finger.
“Armand, how many times have I told you, I’ll decide the punishment.” Lord Ryphen said.
A few moments passed by, silence throughout the cavernous hall was splitting to the ears of the family now shaking with fear.
“Please, your highness” Again cut off but this time by the sound of the ceiling above cracking. A large portion of the rock made ceiling was now crashing down towards the family. Then it stopped in mid-air.
There stood Lord Ryphen with one arm behind his back, the other conducting the movement of the suspended rock. “It’s been a while since I’ve made an example of one of you” racking his mind for what to call them, “scum!” He was pacing back and forth now. “Your son clearly doesn’t know his role in this society that my family has built. And that, simply cannot be allowed. For it takes only one spark to start a fire”
The woman began to sobb silently.
Lord Ryphen continued, “My father and his father before him defended you people against our enemies. By the power of the stone weaver we must maintain order.” Lord Ryphen spoke in a condescending manner. “You understand don’t you?” He looked the family.
“Im sorry Lord, it won’t happen again” The older son said with his head down looking at the ground.
Lord Ryphen stood in place looked long and hard at the family. “No. It won’t” he said. Immediately following the rock above the family fell, crushing only the older son.
“NO! YOU MURDERER! YOU EVIL COWARD! MY SON!” The mother cried out. She was hysterical.
“Shut her up would you? “ Lord Ryphen asked one of his soldiers. As the man walked over to lay hands on her, the father pushed him off. A fight broke out. Just as quickly as it broke out it was ended, with another rock.
The young boy fell to his knees in disbelief. His whole family crushed before his eyes in a matter of seconds. All because his brother defended him when he stole extra food.
“What should we do with this one sir ?” A soldier nearby asked
“Get him out of here” Lord Rhyphen made his way back to his throne.
Struggling noises came from the soldiers as if they were frozen and couldn’t move. Their limbs were jerking around but their bodies remained in place.
The soldiers looked panicked and were unable to get closer to the boy. They were in fact slowly being pushed away. “My armor! It hurts!” One shouted, as the soldiers armor started burning their bodies.
The boy was heaving with anger, his hand to the ground. And earthquake ensued, startling Lord Ryphen to his feet. He had a look in his eye as if he understood what was happening. Pieces of what looked like rock began to erupt from the ground beneath them, swarming to the boy on the floor. They were not rocks however. Metal shards were orbiting the boys body, looking like metal storm grew with him at its center.
Lord Ryphen tried to act quickly summoning rock to his attack, sending pieces of it flying towards the boy. But to no avail. The rocks were turned to dust by the metal storm around him. Lord Ryphen looked terrified now.
The screams throughout the hall were deafened by the earth quaking noises.
The boy stood up, his arms raised at his sides, eyes black as night.
Lord Ryphen summoned large rocks to his defense between them.
The boy began to scream with veracious anger, he brought his hands together, drew back and then pushed forward a large mass of metal shards towards the rocks defending Lord Ryphen. The metal shards pierced the rock with ease, and too shattered to dust. When the haze cleared, Lord Ryphen was pinned to wall with dozens of metal shards, dead.
The boy turned slowly around and all that could be heard was a loud ringing noises followed by multiple pops as the soldiers armor caved in killing each bearer.
Then the boy suddenly shattered into hundreds of metal shards that elegantly collected themselves and flew out of the hall in unison and with intent like a flock of birds.
