Swarm Champion Concept
Omen - many of you will probably remember this little guy. Lots of people wanted it as a champion, but Riot never figured out how to make his kit work. I remember seeing him and thinking "that looks like a zergling". So what if there was a champion that operated like a swarm of zerglings? I came up with a kit for such a champion, and would like to know what you think.
Qer’Xok: the Void Swarm
Passive: Call the Hive – Qer’Xok is not the creatures seen in-game, but rather is the Hive from which these creatures spawn. In-game the Hivelings operate as a single unit which weakens in terms of offensive capabilities as more Hivelings die off. One Hiveling attacks at a time while the others cheer him on like an 80s action movie group vs. hero fight scene. Every Hiveling present on the field makes up a portion of their shared health bar; as their health drops by a certain percentage a Hiveling will die. More Hivelings become available at higher levels. Additionally every X seconds (decreasing at higher levels) another Hiveling spawns, restoring health. This timer is reduced by auto attacks made by Hivelings, and is reset whenever damage is taken from an enemy champion or turret. Healing through lifesteal or other sources will also spawn Hivelings; the healing required is the same as the damage required for a Hiveling to be killed, and Hivelings spawned in this manner do not grant health the way a normally spawned Hiveling would. Qer’Xok cannot drop below than 3 Hivelings on the field.
Q: Pack Hunter – All Hivelings lunge to target enemy, dealing damage and slowing it. Each Hiveling beyond 3 deals reduced damage.
W: Adrenal Frenzy – Attack and Movement Speed are greatly increased for a short duration. During this time basic attacks do not interrupt movement; instead the Hiveling performing the basic attack has movement interrupted as normal while the rest of the Hivelings continue moving. Attacks made during Adrenal Frenzy reduce the cooldown on this ability (or extend the duration, whichever works best).
E: Disperse – (Toggle) The Hivelings spread out over a large area, increasing the hitbox size of Qer’Xok, reducing attack speed and damage taken.
R: Void Swarm – Qer’Xok commands the Hivelings to attack a nearby enemy champion, and all others in an area around the target. The Hivelings then latch onto their victims, rapidly attacking and slowing them in the process. Hivelings will divide themselves according to their numbers, number of enemy champions in the area of the ability, and in cases where an equal number of Hivelings is not available for each victim they will prioritize victims according to proximity to the initial target. During this ability each Hiveling shares a health pool with the other Hivelings attached to the same victim, unlike the usually shared health pool, and the total health of the Hivelings is represented by a visual indicator on the player’s screen. During this time Hivelings take reduced damage from their victim’s basic attacks and take reduced area of effect damage. Victims can target Hivelings on other victims to deal full damage and kill them off, or if they move a sufficient distance from the location of the attack the Hivelings on them will detach. This ability may be cancelled early, resulting in the Hivelings converging at a nearby targeted location, or it will time-out and the Hivelings will converge in the center of their victims. When this ability ends the remaining healthpool will be the sum of each individual Hiveling’s health and a number of Hivelings proportional to the missing health will die. Hivelings are affected by crowd control during this ability as normal.
So basically this champion is just a bunch of "omens" running around biting people's ankles. Based on this kit I think the champion would work best as a damage dealing jungler, since if brought into lane its regeneration passive would be too easy to shut down. The champion is meant to be mobile without being able to cross walls without a target. Damage output is high while durability is fairly low. The ultimate would be pretty devastating against a lone, squishy target, but there's plenty of ultimates like that in the game already.
