League of Legends 2 Concept
League of Legends at the moment is declining very steadily in popularity: it seems as though the reworks, new champs , and advertisements that riot has been pushing out aren’t doing much in the way of bringing in new players, though it does seem worlds is giving it a small boost. Of course, my source for this claim is google trends, if viewed on the period of 2004-present, beginning at approximately Jan 1, 2013, the frequency of google searches for League of legends has dropped by 65%. It is possible that a significant number of people who started playing earlier still play the game, however my friends list has emptied out quite cleanly, left with people who forgot to uninstall LoLFriends from their devices.
One thing is certain; there are less people searching for and ultimately curious about League of Legends. I think it is time for a drastic change to come over League of Legends in order to recapture the interest people had at its peak in 2013. I think it is time for a League of Legends 2.
My concept for this said League of Legends 2 has probably been thought up of by League devs and fellow fans from watching the league worlds cinematically and recent advertisements. It goes like so—
Players create their own characters, the typical adjusting hair style, eye color, body shape, however the characters themselves do not have any special abilities. Instead it is the weapon they chose to wield that gives them the skills of a legend. Let me rephrase that; they wield a weapon of 1 of 137 champions currently in the game (or alternatively, they could wield multiple champions’ weapons) like you can see in the Rise Cinematic. I think this would work best in third person, but the FPS kind of third person. People, especially kids (which is the main demographic of extremely large games), like to project themselves upon a character and allowing players to create a character to match their appearances and wield skills goes along that alley. Additionally, this would make the game mechanically more interesting because you won’t be able to rely on appearances to know heir abilities, rather their weapon.
The main part of League of Legends is the fact that it is a moba and I think that should stay true. However I don’t think that the map should be flat for this “new” League of Legends as it is currently. Instead, the map should be more dynamic and more 3D. For example there could be a cave system, forest, forest canopy, mountain ,waterfall, and river. The forest canopy could be top, forest could be jungle, cave system could be bot, and a river could be mid. There would be towers that protect in a spherical area and nexuses. I think this would add a freshness to the game overall by making player movement more intricate than just clicking back in forth on the screen.
This is my general concept for a League of Legends 2 and feel free to add ideas to this concept or critique it. Regardless, I sincerely believe League needs an overhaul. I care deeply for this game more than I would for any girl and I don’t want League to dwindle our.
