A new take on disabling wards
As it stands, any effect that disables a ward (
,
,
) will remove the vision effect and give an indicator to the enemy team that the ward has been disabled. This effectively allows the team to see that at least 1 person is near that ward. When a team would attempt to Baron, for example, disabling the wards around it allow the enemy team to see that they're either going to have to contest it if possible, or that they're being baited.
Attacking a disabled ward provides vision of your champion to the enemy team. If a ward has been disabled and three people attack it, those three people will be revealed briefly before the ward is destroyed.
Rather than removing vision and giving an indicator, I propose that these effects instead freeze the ward's vision. Thus, if someone disables a ward before rounding a corner, for example, they would not be revealed to the enemy team, and the enemy team would also not gain implied vision of said person. If a team disables a set of wards around Baron in a clever way, they could conceivably take baron without ever being spotted. However, should someone enter the ward's vision before it was disabled, it would show a freeze-frame of that champion to the enemy team. This would allow a team invested in their vision to notice something was off before it was too late.
I would also propose that attacking a disabled ward would still give vision of the attacker. So, if the wards around Baron were disabled, but one of the champions attacked the ward, they would effectively signal the enemy team that something was up, having suddenly appeared and attacked an invisible unit.
This would allow more counter-play revolving around disabling Stealth Wards, making
a good early jungler item if the team is looking to make a lot of ganks—but only if the jungler was clever enough to disable the wards properly, without first revealing themself.
And of course
would become more effective and worthwhile, being immune to disabling effects.
Any feedback on this idea would be appreciated!
