Sylvearius, The Overlight's Guardian
Sylvearius (Sil-vare-eus) is an ice drake, specifically, the one who guards the magnificent and colorful Overlight above the Freljord lands. The Many weaker tribes have called to the Overlight in times of war for courage and strength in battle. Almost as a symbol of hope, rather than a supernatural deity, the ones who called upon the Overlight have triumphant in battle. As time went on, they began to create a recipe calling for several local herbs and rare flowers, which are burned in a pillar. When all these ingredients are burned togather, they make up the colors of the Overlight and ascend into the sky, as a way of giving tribute.
Many years before the league was assembled, a lone ice drake wondered the Freljord in search of his family. The drake found no comfort in the world, and was starting to starve the death. Until the little ice drake looked up at the Overlight, and as the courage was handed to him by the lights themselves, the young drake learned the fighting spirit. As an infant, Sylvearius could freeze his prey solid, then eat it raw while still encased within ice.
As the young drake grew, it followed the Overlight as a source of gaining the courage to live on, until one day he was fully grown. Not understanding how to fly or what his wings were used for, he climbed to the to see the Overlight up close. There, on the peek of that mountain, he roared so loud it froze the battlefields of the Freljord in wonder. A nearby town looked up to see the silhouette of an ice drake against the magnificent lights in the sky. This roar was a pledge, a promise to the light that gave Sylvearius courage, to be by it's side and fulfill its wishes.
Soon, Sylvearius figured out that people paid tribute to the light by burning herbs, and realized how he could help. He flew to the Overlight's tribute and perched himself on top of the tribute pillar, looking down at the people. At first frightened, the warriors of the tribute prepared to fight, but soon realized he was no threat. They all realized that the Overlight had sent a mighty ice drake to fight alongside them in battle, as repayment for their tribute. Thankful, the village gave the ice drake his name, which meant "Overlight Guardian" from then on out. Sylvearius spent much time protecting warriors in battle, but he still does not speak the language of man.
Time passed and the League was assembled, causing all wars and disputes to be settled within the arena. However, this brought too much peace in the Freljord and people stopped giving tribute to the Overlight. Disturbed, Sylvearius seeks wisdom from a wise man in a befriended village. The man explains the League to Sylvearius, and the ice drake quickly realizes what he must do. The League has brought too much peace to the lands of Freljord, causing the decline in the tributes towards the Overlight, so the League must come to an end.
Mostly, Sylvearius is trying to remove all the Freljord combatants from the League, not topple the League itself. All he wants to do is return glory to the symbol in the sky that brought him protection and courage when he was weak and lost. As his name says, he is the Overlight's guardian, and he must dedicate his life to what the light stands for. To reinstall the faith warriors place in the great light symbol, Sylvearius joins the League of Legends.
Appearance: A traditional looking (not Chinese) dragon made completely of ice.
Stats: Health- 542 (+82 per level) Health per 5 - 7.89 (+0.55 per level) Mana- 350 (+49 per level) Attack Damage - 65 (+3 per level) Attack Speed -0.56 (+1.2% per level) Attack range - 525 (Ranged) Movement speed- 340 Armor - 24 (+3 per level) Magic resist- 30 (+0 per level)
Passive:
Basic attacks add one stack of frost. Sylvearius can freeze targets solid at 100 stacks of frost for four seconds(+0.5% AP) at 100(+20% AP) ice shield. One stack of frost deteriorates after thirty seconds. If broken out of freeze, enemies still retain 50 stacks of frost.
Notes: Freeze is an completely new type of CC. It causes enemies to be unable to do anything, such as move, attack or use abilities. However it also grants enemies a shield of 100 health, if the shield is broken by** allies** freeze is removed from the enemy. So it's not like stun where you can free damage an enemy, it's more like it's on thing where you set aside an enemy for later. On every enemy, there is a frost counter only visible to Sylvearius and the target must look at their buff/debuffs to see the frost stacks. Enemies can attack the frost shield of their own ally to break the freeze.
Q - Winter's Breath Cost: 20/25/30/35/40 mana per second Cooldown: 3 Seconds after toggled again.
Toggle: Sylvearius blows icy breath in a long straight cone (450 units). Causing enemies to be slowed by 24%/26%/28%/30%/32% while inside the cone. Their attack speed is reduced by 5%/7%/9%/11%/13% (+10% AP) . Applies 1 (+5% AP) stack of frost on enemies per second. He looses 40% movespeed while he is using this ability.
Note: As soon as an enemy escapes Winter's Breath, the debuff from being slowed is removed instantly. Also note that at 100 AP, Winter's Breath reduces enemy attack speed by an extra 10% and applies 5 additional stacks of frost per second. Remember: This attack deals no damage.
W - Frozen Scales Cost - None Cool down- 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 seconds
Passive: Sylvearius gains 4%/5%/6%/7%/8% (+5% AP) damage reduction from all sources.
Active: Sylvearius redistributes thickness on one wing and gives it to another, using the bigger wing to protect that side of him. If hit on the thick side, Sylvearius absorbs incoming projectiles and is 12%/15%/18%/21%/24% (+15% AP) resistant to all damage on that side. If hit on the front, back and other side, he does not reduce damage (As if his passive doesn't count on these side).
Notes: Using the active on the right side of Sylvearius makes that side tougher, using the active on the other side makes that side even and makes him all around more stable. Using it again on the left side makes it tougher but returns his back weaker. Although, it does have somewhat of a cool down so decisions can't be changed to quickly. Lastly, if he absorbs any type of crowd control then he is still effected by it.
E - Strong Gust Cost - 100/110/120/130/140 Cool down - 20/18.5/16/14.5/13
Active: Sylvearius uses his mighty wings to push back enemies a set distance of 550 (+50% AP) away from Sylvearius. It also creates a gust of flowing wind that slows anyone against the gust, while speeding up anyone who go in with the gust, by 20% (+5% AP). This gust lasts 5/5.5/6/6.5/7 seconds
Passive: All slows heal Sylvearius by 10 health per each 1% slow he effected with. He is also now resistant to slows by 100%.
Notes: Enemies closer Sylvearius get knocked back further, as it knocks them back a set distance from Sylvearius. He is not resistant to being stunned, feared and all those other CC effects.
R- Blizzard Form Cost: 140/160/180 Cool down- 200/190/180
Active: Sylvearius channels himself to become a living blizzard. All of Sylvearius' abilities gain width and range by 40/45/50 units (+5% Max Health), as well as size increase . He gains a shield of 30/60/90 (+20% Max health) and movement speed is increased by 40%. He avoids unit and wall collision, all enemies that are inside his blizzard-like body are applied with 1/2/3 (+5% AP) stacks of frost. He will stay this way for 15 seconds
Passive: Freeze lasts 1/2/3 seconds longer.
Note: This is his most brutal attack, able to get into the enemy team by using his gust (E) to gain even more movespeed as he closes in. He uses his Q while hitting enemies inside of him to apply a bunch of frost stacks on enemies, causing a lot of enemies to freeze. Freeze as many enemies as you can or keep them on the move as your teammates use the gust movement speed to deal some damage. At max level, freeze lasts up to 7 seconds. Remember that freeze can be broken by allies, so an unfrozen ranged champion can help unfreeze frozen front liners.
Quotes-
Joke- Sylvearius looks behind him and sees his tail, he chases it a little and then suddenly stops when his tail lifts itself up like a snake's head. Then Sylvearius turns the other way and his tail starts chasing him, he whines like a puppy for a little until he realizes his tail has stopped chasing him.
Taunt- Sylvearius lifts his front shoulders and plants himself in a stronger stance. He puffs up his chest, drawing in air. Then he roars, which can be heard across the entire map.
Dance- Ice Ice baby?
Laugh- Sylvearius wags his tail like a dog and sticks his tongue out so it appears he is smiling.
Recommended items:
: Sylvearius does not have any damaging abilities, but he still gains damage resistance thanks to his W based on AP and can use these ratios to slow enemies, speed allies and increase the stacks per second on both his Q and R. Since freezing enemies solid his gimmick, that's what must be focused on. Zhyonas helps him be even more defended against physical damage and the active on Zhyonas makes him extremely hard to kill.
: Mana regeneration is helpful on Sylvearius, as he will be using a lot of it. Not to mention the fact he gets damage reduction based off of ability power. The ability to throw a slow behind is also helpful, if his E is down. His Q isn't the best idea while on the run because it reduces his speed.
: Warmogs has a good amount of health on it to give his abilites increased size when using his ultimate. Also, since he can build resistance off of AP, this is almost the only health item he may require. It also helps him act like a counter-siege champion, using his W to soak up projectiles and backing off to let Warmogs regenerate health.
Synergy:
: Xerath is a good siege unit while Sylvearius is a good wall between Xerath and any threats. Since Xerath has no escape, it's nice to have someone who can knock enemies away while slowing them. Ultimately the two are good before enemies can hard engage.
: Talon is good at taking out single targets fast. If Sylvearius manages to freeze potential dangers to Talon, it makes our assassin's job much easier. If Talon is in trouble during a team fight and has to use his ultimate, the presence of Sylvearius will change their focus. Essentially if they don't avoid Sylvearius, they will be frozen and won't be able to pull off a good team fight. This is what make Sylvearius a good disruptor.
: A slightly obvious one. If Sylvearius built a massive amount of health, the width on his gust (E) will be bigger. If they enemy team lets our fearsome froze playmaker get into the right position, he can knock back all the enemies. Once Yasuo sees this he can ult, holding the enemies from getting too far away while the rest of the team moves in. Of course, Yasuo will have his ultimate passive.
All criticism accepted, so go ahead and chip away. Even if you don't like my champion design I would like to thank you in advance for read; so thank you!
