Short Lore

There's a saying among a certain Vestayan tribe that goes,

"The darkest of our kin; In one-hundred years she will breathe once more. In one-hundred days she will devour the world."

Once a member of a Vestayan tribe that has long passed into mystery, Ghisin was born with a greater connection to the spirits than most in her time. Through them she peered into the future and beheld the coming of a demon that would consume her kin. Seized by fear but driven by a love for her people, Ghisin killed her morals and began feeding on the thoughts and essence humans to grow strong enough to face the coming evil. In the end, her appetite grew until she forgot the reason with she began her feast, and she became a monster in the eyes of her people.

Fearing the end result of her ravenous hunger for minds, Ghisin's tribe banded against her and sent her into the shadows. But it wasn't the end; her endless consumption had turned her into something decidedly different from them, and they knew a day would come in which her specter would stir again.

Now Ghisin stalks the shadows of the world again, her compassionate heart long lost to her hunger for souls.

Long Lore

One among a tribe of fox Vastayan, Ghisin was born with a deep ability to commune with spirits, through which she obtained great wisdom and insight into events yet to unfold. She gained recognition among her tribe at a young age when she foresaw that a great and sudden onset of snow-melt would consume the dwellings of her people, killing many and devastating their livelihood. Realizing that her word alone would not be sufficient to avert disaster, Ghisin climbed the nearby mountains and obtained evidence of the early melt, bringing it back to her tribe. With this warning, Ghisin's tribe quickly relocated to safer environs, and just in time before the prophesized snowsurge came down the mountains.

This was only the start for the young fox. As she grew older, Ghisin time was gifted with yet more visions of future events, which which she carefully guided her people away from hardships. Over time, her people began to come to her looking for advice, and she happily obliged them, offering whatever wisdom she could glean from the spirits. In time she became a respected priestess among her people, with her words being taken in deep regard.

But then a horrible night came when Ghisin dreamed once again of disaster. From that night on her nights were beset with visions of her own bloody demise, heralding the oncoming of a horrifying shadow that devoured the souls of the dead and sundered the living. She saw her own people, their lives stolen and their communities reduced to ash. She tried to hide her visions from her people, but no matter how she tried to see into the future to find some way to avert this disaster, the dreams only became sharper and clearer, hinting at their imminent fulfillment.

Her powers as they were weren't enough to save her people. Something had to be done.

It was known among her people that they had the power to feed on lives through influencing emotion, but it was also known that this sensation was dangerously addictive, and thus a dangerous taboo. During yet another sleepless night, Ghisin found herself wandering the forests near her tribe's current residence, and soon she stumbled upon a human community. Standing atop a hill, she glared down at them, jealousy raging in her heart. Destruction didn't loom over their heads - and even if it did, they weren't burdened with the certain knowledge of its coming. For the first time in her life, Ghisin considered her gift a curse, one that was driving her mad with fear and yet offered no solution.

She had to do something. Even if it was a horrible thing.

Breaking the laws of her people, Ghisin descended upon the village that night, beginning a grizzly hunt. She darted from the shadows, quickly beguiling the simple humans with calming images, taking their life energy, and then disappearing from sight again. The humans quickly learned that a demon was among them, but though they gathered to stop Ghisin, she eluded the hunters, picking them off one by one. By morning, she was the sole living thing standing in that village, and yet she was more alive than ever before. She could feel body flowing with power she once couldn't have imagined.

She could do it. With this, she could confront the shadow and save her people. Grinning ear to ear, she returned to her tribe, only to find them arrayed against her upon her arrival. She frowned and stepped forward, realizing what was coming. Her people had noticed her departure, and sensed what she'd done - but too late to stop it. She tried to explain herself and her motives, but her fellow Vastayans refused to hear her.

Realizing the hopelessness of her position, Ghisin fled into the woods. With the aid of the spirits and the strength she'd gained from the humans, she managed to elude pursuit. After establishing a new den for herself in the southern woods of Ionia, she began to plan her defense against the dread shadow once more. She'd depleted the life force she'd seized from the humans to come as far as she had, but this didn't trouble her.

There were plenty of feed from. As many as she needed to contend with the coming terror. One village bled into two, then three. Ghisin's murderous nights became more efficient each time she made her attacks, and upon returning from her third rampage, she felt sure that she would finally be graced with a vision of salvation.

Instead, she found herself surrounded by hunters of her own kind. They struck without giving her a chance to speak, dealing crippling injuries before Ghisin could even move to defend herself. As she lay bleeding on the ground, the Vastayan foxes - her own people - warily watched the life leave her.

So, that was it. All of her struggles had been for nothing. Everything she'd done for the sake of her kind.

In desperation, she reached out to the spirits one last time, and she was gifted with one final vision. The shadow that fed on death was attacking, but this time the visions were from another perspective. So that was it.

Well, she'd been guided her whole life by her visions, even when she strove to defy them. The only path left to her was to see them through.

Laughing into the dirt, and labored to force herself up. Looking the hunters in the eyes, and said to them, "Know this: In one hundred years I'll return. I'll scatter our tribes like ashes!"

Unwilling to hear any further, the hunters struck her down.

Her body died, but Ghisin did not pass into eternal rest. Her connection to the spirits remained with her even in death, and her own wayward soul, in time, managed to piece together its own awareness again with their aid.

It then consumed them. The spirits that guided her in life became her prey in death. Not even Ghisin herself could remember exactly how long it took, but eventually she became fully aware of herself again. And she hungered. Her very form, built from a conglomerate mass of consumed specters and spirits, repelled the spirits that wandered the land, but she hunted them down. Her hunger for souls and life - the foundation from which she existed in the land of the living once more - drew her ever onward.

She no longer looked to the spirits for guidance, or to the living to protect. They were food, one and all, for the endless hunger of the shadow that a young fox once foresaw in her nightmares.

Hiya! Dropping a couple thoughts.

I think one of the thematic issues I have off the bat is that Ghisin is very similar to Evelynn - you're a stalker with conditional mobility and AP focused burst that gets enhanced by a passive alternate form. While it's not too strong of a bond, I'm still a bit concerned about it all. While making them Vestaya (and I notice you really like Vestaya) is somewhat helpful, it's just...odd. It sticks out to me in that way.

Q is quite interesting, though I feel that it's too backloaded into Prowling, which offers quite a substantial boost (particularly in ult) but way be quite weak for normal clearing in the way old Eve was, but slightly better.

W is...an interesting mix of Eve and WW. The issue is that there isn't much, or any reason to reactivate the ability before you're going to kill them anyway, so something like a missing health scaling would be very welcome here.

E is...a bit dull, and probably the dullest part of the kit. The prowling bonus is very insignificant given how short it will be, and other Prowling abilties are just superior choices. I had hoped for...perhaps a bit more than just a vanilla dash.

It is quite interesting though I would have liked the R to have possessed more than simple 'I am stronger + magic damage lul' which is exactly what it currently offers. I believe that working towards a more focused ult in a way, instead of a way to cheat your passive in-combat requirement and having a decent assassination pattern.

Overall it seems like a weak concept, particularly from you. I think you compromised too much in terms of going for your theme, and perhaps considering some other factors that a redesign would really help beyond co-opting existing elements into your current design. I really look forward to what this could become, though so keep at it!
