Okay, I have an idea for a new champion here, called Kalus (KAH-luse), The Thought Keeper.

Part I - Lore: Kalus was once a mortal man who seeked to perfect the mind. Born into the city-state of Noxus, he grew up seeing treachery and deceit. When he was only six, his mother was mugged and murdered by a low-life thief among the dark shadows of Noxus. As he grew up as an orphan, he came to believe the problems of the world were all linked to the imperfection of the mortal mind, mainly, the negative emotions such as jealousy, hatred, rage, and others. He thought these emotions clogged the expansion of thought and the evolution of mankind. Kalus at first tried to gain support from his fellow denizens of Noxus. He told them that they could cease their bickering with the city-state of Demacia and become a perfect civilization. However, he was rejected and eventually exiled from Noxus for speaking out against the leaders of Noxus' wishes. So, Kalus decided to go to Ionia, a place where he heard of mental and spiritual balance. Upon reaching his destination, he found an abandoned temple. Seeing its grand design, he went into the heart of the temple, where he found a dark room, lit only by a star-shaped ray of moonlight above. He went into this light and began to meditate, hoping to perfect his own mind. As he meditated, he focused on pure thought and thought alone. As he continued this intent focus, he slowly began to lose feeling. He no longer thought of times of happiness or sadness, of times of prosperity and hardship. He only thought of the creation of ideas, the invention of the mortal mind. He stayed alone in that temple for many years, slowly losing all connections to his feelings. Many Ionian citizens reported seeing him in there, but when they went to touch or talk to him, there was some sort of invisible barrier, preventing him from hearing or noticing anything they did, as well as blocking anyone from entering. Eventually, they simply gave up and left the temple alone. So he remained in that temple, simply meditating. Somehow, he was able to survive without food or water as well. When he finally completed his meditation eight years later, he found that his mind was purged of all emotion. He no longer felt anything around him. He drifted on with no feeling of the world around him. Nothing has ever been seen in his face since that day, just a blank stare. He also does not have any human needs anymore. He no longer eats, he he no longer sleeps, he doesn’t even breathe. No one is entirely sure how or why this could be, but nevertheless it remains true to this day. Since this transformation, Kalus has traveled all over Valoran, speaking stoically of his evolution of mind. Yet Kalus has not found perfection yet, and speaks of something missing, something he cannot obtain that holds true perfection, and that is emotion. Kalus, now free of emotion, walks without purpose. He continues on without the slightest hint of any want or desire. Eventually he found the League of Legends and all of its members. Seeing all of their individual goals, he joined the League to find a purpose for his knowledge. "Intelligence expands infinitely, but with no goal it is worthless." --Kalus

Part II - Role/Stats: Primary: Support Secondary: Mage Kalus is a utility support who excels at slowly cutting down enemies' health with his unique debuffs while giving bonus defenses to his allies. *Uses Mana in Secondary Bar

Stats: Health: 495 (+57 per level) Health Regeneration: 1.6 (+1 per level) Mana: 336 (+48 per level) Mana Regeneration: 2 (+0.5 per level) Attack Damage: 49 (+1.1 per level) Attack Speed: 0.670 (+.75% per level) Armor: 16 (+1 per level) Magic Resist: 28

Part III - Abilities: Passive: Mental Deterioration Kalus' abilities mark targets with Mental Deterioration for 3 seconds. Targets afflicted by this buff deal 3% reduced magic damage for the mark's duration. This effect can stack up to three times, for a maximum of 9% reduced magic damage. After the mark wears off, affected targets are then granted immunity to the mark for 9 seconds.

Q: Psywave Active - Kalus sends out a pulse of mental energy that travels forward in a line, dealing 50/85/120/155/190 (+40% AP) magic damage to the first enemy unit hit and slows them by 60% for 2 seconds. If the target is already under any form of Crowd Control already, then it will bounce off that target, dealing the same amount of damage but not slowing them, and it will hit a target within 400 units (prioritizes Champions) for 75% of the damage of the first hit and slow them by 60%. Applies Mental Deterioration to the target(s) hit. Range: 850 Mana Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 Cooldown: 9/8/7/6/5

W: Knowledge Transfer Passive - All allied Champions that are within 500 units of Kalus gain 5% increased Magic Resist. Active - Kalus increases the duration of all buffs on a target allied Champion or himself by 5%/10%/15%/20%/25%. This excludes abilities that grant immunity to damage (ex. Kayle's Divine Intervention) or revive/prevent death (ex. Zilean's Chronoshift & Tryndamere's Undying Rage). Range: 725 Mana Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 Cooldown: 21/20/19/18/17

E: Mind Lock Active - After a 0.75 second delay, Kalus creates a 300-unit radius that deals 40/55/70/85/100 (+40% AP) magic damage to any enemy units in it and roots them for 1 second. Applies Mental Deterioration to all targets. Range: 900 Mana Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9

R: Thought of Battle Active - Kalus channels for 1.5 seconds and gains the ability to either use Thought of Battle on himself/a target allied Champion or on a target enemy Champion for 8 seconds. If he does not pick a target, the cooldown is halved. Thought of Battle on target allied Champion - Kalus marks a target allied Champion with Thought of Perseverance for 12 seconds. The target allied Champion gains 20/30/40 Bonus Armor and Magic Resist, as well as a buff causing their basic attacks to slow enemies by 30%/40%/50% for 2 seconds. Thought of Battle on target enemy Champion - Kalus marks a target enemy Champion with Thought of Death for 12 seconds. The target enemy Champion loses 10%/15%/20% of their Attack Damage and Ability Power for the duration. At the end of the mark’s duration, the mark will explode, dealing 150/300/450 to the target enemy Champion as well as any other enemy units within a 175-unit radius. NOTE: Does NOT apply Mental Deterioration to the target Enemy Champion, since they already have reduced damage due to this ability. However, Mental Deterioration is applied to all enemy targets hit by the mark’s explosion. Range: 1000 Mana Cost: 100 Cooldown: 120/110/100

Part IV - Quotes: Upon being selected by a summoner: “Maybe you can find a use for my knowledge, Summoner.” Upon starting a game on Summoner’s Rift: “Ah, there is much to be learned from here!” “The mind triumphs over all.” Attacking: “What is their purpose?” “I may continue to grow, but you will no longer.” “I learn from your death.” “Their minds are nothing.” “Why must they resist?” “Your thoughts are worthless to me.” “So, how does pain feel?” “Mercy is for the oblivious.” “I will enlighten you.” “Succumb to my ideas.” Movement: “Perfection is so close, yet so far.” “My purpose… what could it be?” “To think is to create.” “Why can they feel what I cannot?” “My mind is full of knowledge, yet empty of reason.” “Learning is the start of a pure mind.” “My thoughts bring only knowledge.” “There are many forms of intelligence. I am one of them.” “What can I do with what I know?” “If only they could realize.” “Thinking it out is half the battle.” “Perhaps I was wrong.” “I walk without desire.” “This place is just the same.” Joke: “Yes, I do have something on my mind.” “Intelligence is the key to… is the key to… wait, what was I going to say?” Taunt: “Do you have a headache? I can do much worse.” “Your mind just isn’t worth learning from.” Taunting an enemy Dr. Mundo: “It appears to be talking. What a strange phenomenon.” Taunting an enemy Heimerdinger: “You are overconfident in your knowledge, Heimerdinger. Taunting an enemy Vel’Koz: “Don’t you realize you can’t learn from something that is no longer there?” Upon using Psywave: “Feel my power!” “Your minds cannot accept this energy!” Upon using Knowledge Transfer: “Grow and prosper.” Upon using Knowledge Transfer on himself: “I will use my mind to rejuvenate my body.” Upon using Thought of Perseverance on a target allied Champion: “Your mind has been opened." “You will persevere through their futile attacks.” Upon using Thought of Death on a target enemy Champion: “One thought can kill you.” “Your demise stems inside you.” Upon purchasing Morellonomicon: “This book holds many possibilities.” Upon purchasing Mikael's Crucible: "My allies will not die today." "This Crucible will truly protect them." Upon purchasing Tailsman of Ascension: "My mind will ascend."

Part V - Appearance and Skins: Kalus appears as a young Caucasian man with short brown hair. He wears simple robes, which are brown with two dark blue lines going down them on both sides, as well as a pair of sandals. When using basic attacks, he releases a small white orb from his head towards the target. When using Psywave, he puts his index and middle finger of his left arm to his left temple and releases a large white beam. The beam does not move straight, however. Rather, it moves up and down repeatedly. For any Pokemon fans out there, the animation basically looks like the animation for the move Psywave in-game. Anyways, it will fade away after hitting a target or reaching maximum range. When using Knowledge Transfer, he raises his right arm forward and the ground around either himself or the target allied Champion turns white for a second, then the white fades away. When using Mind Lock, he clasps his hands together and six white tendrils will come out of the ground at the targeted area. The tendrils are connected by grey bonds, isolating the area (if you want a better visualization, think of a smaller version of Veigar’s E that AoE roots enemy units). When using Thought of Battle, He exhales a deep breath and his body will gain a white aura. Once he selects his target, the target will have a partially transparent white shield around them. If the target was an enemy Champion, when the ability’s duration ends, the shield will burst around them. (once again, if you want a better visualization, think of Sion’s W, except white instead of red, with the same explosion effect if Kalus targets an enemy Champion).

Skins: Corrupted Kalus Kalus would wear black robes with two red lines going down them, his face would be grey, and he would have no pupils. His spells would change color to dark grey instead of the normal white. I also have some ideas for quotes for this skin: Attacking: “You will be consumed.” “The world around you is a lie.” “To test me is to test oblivion.” “You are but one small flame in a sea of gloom.” Movement: “The dark has taught me true power.” “They are not worthy of seeing the truth.” “The light is merely an illusion.” “I am one with despair.”

Part VI - Concluding Notes: Overall, this Champion is a very solid support to go with in bottom lane. His mixture of crowd control, a little sustain, and buffs and debuffs work great to weaken enemies while strengthening your marksman. His ultimate is great to use on either your own marksman or assassin, to give them some extra crowd control and a little tankiness, or an enemy marksman or assassin, to drastically lower their damage output in an extended fight. His general weaknesses, however, are that he has no direct escapes and can’t really do well alone, as he has no pushing power, like many supports. Anyways, notify me of any questions, comments, thoughts, ideas, or whatever else you have in the comments below, and I hope you enjoyed reading about Kalus. Oh, and there's a poll below if you want to rate Kalus overall. Thanks, and GLHF on the Rift.

First thoughts: I liked his lore... at first. It seemed like you knew how to write well. and then i hit upon the phrase "Somehow he didnt need food or water" and i was turned off :(

in lore, the point is to explain and intrigue people to play a champion with a purpose. if you just say "somehow" that's doing the opposite. that's not explaining anything. you could say "No one knows how blablabla" or "Because of a mysterious ___ blablabla" but never "somehow" just keep that in mind.

Second thoughts: looking over his abilities, he seems to be more of a tank support like taric. So its either he's too close to taric or he's too similar to zilean. i can't decide. What i can decide on is the fact that i don't believe he would be that useful in any meta. He'd be like old gangplank, how he could build anything and still be just as useful? you could literaly do anything with this guy and he'd still be the same amount of use. I like the thought theme, how he's controlling the mind to be improved or something. But how does "thought of death" and "thought of perserverence" and "thought of _____" = exciting and new abilities that make him feel like he has a varied playstyle. if everything's a "thought of ____" then he will likely never see the light of day.

Last thoughts: All in all, even if you fixed those things above, his biggest flaw is probably the fact that his biggest strength is giving armor / mr while doing aoe damage. giving armor / mr is useful to a point, yes. but its 10x more useful in the bot lane with an adc when you have a shield or a heal or slow or speed buff or cc. but increasing resistance is either toxic for the game, or just not that useful. If you asked riot i bet they'd give you a good explanation as to why in their design of new champions they avoid things like that.
