Aatrox Rework Idea
Alright...so
is a diver and I guess he does his things pretty good. He's a fairly balanced champion. But he has a very big problem. He doesn't fit his own theme. I mean come on! He is supposed to be that godly creature that appears from thin air, changes the course of an entire WAR and dissapear.
He should be a legend, a dark angel and hero to some and a demonic nightmare to others, a god of war. In his lore it says that he changed countless battles by inspiring one side to crush the other, while he gracefully swings his blade, blood being his paint and the land his canvas.
Right now he does the "massacre" thing pretty good but not the inspire people to fight to their death part. So her's my idea of an
rework.
Note 1: I know that he's supposed to get reworked with the other divers in the upcoming roster update next year but I have the feeling he's gonna be one of those champions that won't be able to fulfill their theme while being balanced after a small update ( cough
cough
).
Note 2: I have very little experience with this kind of stuff so it will be far from a perfect rework concept.
Note 3: I didn't include numbers since balancing is too hard for me :P.
So here it is...
Passive - Blood Well: Pretty much the same. I just felt like this is a passive that fits him very well both thematically and gameplay-wise. I like the Blood Well mechanic and I like the AS bonus (tho I would probably remove it for this concept since he doesn't synergize too well with AS anymore other than with core items). Also he should be able to cast his new ultimate while in stasis.
Q - Dark Flight: Also pretty much the same, but has some interactions with his new E. This accompanies the whole winged demon thingy while also making him the diver he is. The knock-up makes him impactful both gameplay and theme-wise.
W - ___________ (can't think of a proper name; I tried to use an art term for this one since it would fit the theme...I don't speak English very well so if someone comes up with a good one please say it ^^ this ability's name should sound esthetic and elegant): Slashes in an arc, dealing physical damage to enemies, healing himself and filling his Blood Well based on the number of enemy champions hit. This is the reason as to why AS wouldn't be a very good stat on him anymore. His old E makes his 3rd attack have an effect based on the toggle. And since his new W is his only direct healing ability it should have a low cooldown and maybe his Q and W should be shifted. Also this ability is very simple, because his new E and R are kinda overloaded.
E - ____________ (yeah I really can't xD)
Throws sword in the sky. After a short time it stabs the ground in target location as it deals damage and stuns all enemies hit.
can get his blade back by walking (or Q-ing), casting E again or by waiting a few seconds. By getting it back with recasting E or waiting, the sword deals damage to all enemies it passes through on its way back to
. While he doesn't hold his blade, he can't AA and use W; also his passive will be disabled for that time. While he doesn't hold it he can cast R from the sword's location and also gains increased movement speed while running towards it and his Q has a longer range towards it.
This ability kinda resembles
's E and his combo. I think this would give him a pretty clear weakness while also granting him a better gap-closer and a way to cast his ult when not nearby. The sword should also hit in a fairly small circle so it would make
kinda a more mechanics-hungry champion.
R - Massacre (New)
removes all debuffs on himself and nearby allies and creates giant war zone around himself for a few seconds or until he leaves it. Enemies are grounded, while allies have increased movement and attack speed, their attacks deal bonus damage equal to a percent of
's total AD and they have their remaining cooldowns halved. Can be cast while passive is active.
Pretty broken, I know. But this is just an idea. I think this would make
look like a god in a big fight.

himself while trying to get a deeper feeling for this legendary demon that inspires people to fight - vibe. Hope you enjoyed it!
Edit: Here's an idea for a new passive Passive: Darkin Blade/Blood Well - Aatrox has a resource bar called Blood Well which he can fill with a percent of the health spent by his abilities, also Aatrox draws the blood of the enemies he fights and kills through his blade. Aatrox gains bonus attack speed based on how much his Blood Well is filled. Upon filling his Blood Well, he goes in his Bloodthirst state, ignoring unit collision, doubling his Darkin Blade AS bonus and granting him a bigger AA and W range for a few seconds.
