Armor item that can apply Grievous Wounds

What if Thornmail was a core component to 2 other items, like Last Whisper is to Mortal and Dominiks. The 2 items that build out of the core Thornmail either return magic damage to the auto attacker, or apply grievous wounds to the auto attacker. This a way a tank can have similar build options as the marksman so they both can deal with the numerous self-healers in the game.
