Story

There once was an ancient civilization of powerful fighters, known as the Maktu (mahc two), they were a people united in the search for a way to enter the void. Their leading council saw the creatures coming from the void as magnificent specimens and not as the monsters they were. In a quest for knowledge and power, the leaders convinced their followers to searched day and night for a way into to the void. After years of looking they would be rewarded for their efforts, finally finding a lost, and long forgotten portal. Specifically selected families, consisting of strong male and female fighters, were given the honor of first settling the void. However, once a colony was established on the other side, the portal unexpectedly snapped shut, separating and locking the settlers in the void. Thousands of years these families lived in the dark of a strange and terrible place. Lost in the void, they survived off of the heat of buried star shards (giant crystals with a dull heat trapped within), which gave enough light to grow food. As time passed the lost people began adapting, they eventually began to build relationship with the void, understanding its ebb and flow. Generation after generation they began to absorb the void itself. Ultimately they began to harness and understand the power of dark matter, the essence of the void. With this new understanding of dark matter the Maktu survivors learned how to create their own portals. These powers were welcomed with open arms, not because of their previous desire for power and knowledge, rather, because they would need them to survive the constant terrors plaguing and roaming the void. They leaned very quick of the voids true nature; a place of terror, darkness and death. With the horrors of the void now prevalent, the Maktu decided to try and return to their home planet. Not even the most powerful sons and daughters could muster enough energy to create a portal out of the void. The idea of returning home soon beacme an unobtainable dream. Until one night, deep in the dark, an evil creature of unequalled size finally caught scent of new (new by his standards) creatures living in his territory. He travel with unbelievable speed and attacked the settlers. After going into a monstrous rage he began to feed on all of the Maktu, except a hidden few. The last of the survivors were a small family of three, the son was Raz'nu a very powerful and talented fighter who had an unparalleled connection with dark matter. As there time came to a close and the monster edged in for the kill, Raz'nu used all of his will and energy to create a portal, a portal to anywhere. And as death reached his family, he opened a small portal and squezzing through he reached back towards his mother and father with their outstretched hands, a finger tip away the portal began to fade, unable to fit Raz'nu could only watch as the portal snapped shut. Devastated with the death of everyone he ever known, he fell into a dark despair. After years of sorrowful meandering, in an unknown world, Raz'nu found himself at the doorstep of the League of Legends. With no purpose in life Raz'nu figured this was the next best thing, a way for him to relieve and release his built up hate for all things spawned of the void. It was then when he found himself face to face with the creature from that terrible night, the one that had slain his people and family. He would fight with unequalled precision and fury. He would once again harness the power of dark matter. Finally he will revenge his family. He will kill Cho Garth.

When Mortal stands still for 2 seconds unattacked, focusing his energy, he places a portal in front of himself and a destination portal. Note - the portals have specific directions of where a champ can enter and exit, therefore it is important for Raz'nu to position himself well, along with the other portal.

Duration This passive lasts until Mortal is attacked or moves Range 800

Mortal creates a portal for one champion to use, team or opponent, while sending them to his desired location. For every point of damage Mortal outputs, he gains .05% to his ultimates range Ex.) when Mortal AA at lvl 1 each AA would add (Dmg 51 x .05)=2.55

Duration Mortal has 4 seconds to establish his second portal once starting the ultimate, and the portal stays up for 4 seconds, unless canceled or a champion uses it. Range The amount of Mortals output, in game damage multiplied by .05= range Cooldown 180/150/120

Ahh, the old perennial favorite, the Portal Guy.

I love this idea, just from it's basest form it feels good. It would be great to have someone who does that thing from that game that we all loved. You know the one.

The only issue is, it's really really hard.

I'm going to talk about both your attempt and the general problems faced by such a design here...

So, the first problem is always pretty simple: How do you get the portals out there quickly, easily, and without driving yourself insane. Your fix to it was to make it passive, so that it happens automatically when you stand still for 2 seconds.

See, the only problem with that (other than control, I assume the second portal is made at your cursor location?) is that it's action by inaction. You only get the portal by not doing anything, so, in design terms, the total "Fun" from generating these portals needs to be greater than the "Fun" you could have in two seconds by doing something. Do you see what I'm saying there? That you're costing the player two seconds of game time (Which is forever in a teamfight, nothing in lane) during which they must do nothing and not be hit, in order to do something that needs to be incredibly "Fun" to be justified, and, well, it's not.

So how else can we generate portals? Well, the Design Team gave us a clever little nugget in Azir, and one that we can Copy without great cost. We simply give him an ability (W works, if we're stealing it from Azir anyway) which stores and generates portals. Here's a basic pitch:

W - Portals!? - Must be leveled at lvl 1. Raznu generates one portal at the target location for 4 seconds. <Insert rules for what can/cant go through here> Stores up to <Number> charges, and <Insert rule for how you'll consistently have access to at least two>. Recharges faster with each level.

There, now we can keep moving on this guy, and there's more than enough flex in that to make something shiny.

So, now we look at the other skills, kinda get a feel for what we can do, and why we would do it.

The Passive would need to have something to do with either his going through a portal, or, and this might be more fun, some buff based on how far he has traveled in the past few seconds. Treat portals as some distance, to encourage that kind of play.

The Q, as it is now, doesn't require his use of portals at all. And as such, is kinda sad. It's a poke that, by flavor alone, uses portals. Since we've retooled the W to make the portals reliable, the Q can make use of them, in some interesting ways. Here's the pitch, keep it as a poke, but make it a skillshot that, if it travels through a wormhole, comes out the other side as normal, but also deals damage between the two portals (and slows, because that's kinda cool for kiting).

Your W (uhh... oops!) had some problems, mainly with the fact that it casts a self-CC onto someone who would probably DREAD ever being CC'ed. If you like the idea of the Attack Speed steroid, put that into your Passive, and MAYBE consider the self-cc as a natural self-counter (I wouldn't though, unless you really need to).

The E, well, you can take the other part of the W, the self-projectile, and tie them both together. That'll work well, especially since it's hard to aim through the teleporters, but is really cool to land. Maybe give a speed/range buff through a portal. Not much to worry about there.

The Ultimate! Uh.. Yeah! It's too loose, and doesn't fit what you would ever really want, and let me explain why. Yes, it is incredibly useful, but in a teamfight, you run into the problem of basically not having an ultimate. It doesn't help the team engage, disengage, etc. It may save one member, but it only does so by catapulting them out of the fight, probably making you lose anyway. This kind of thing would have worked back for the old style of these maps, with a quirky neat ultimate, but nowadays they need some form and direct usefulness. You want to be able to help your whole team if you can, and so... here's the dumb idea I've got:

To be continued!
