Champion Concept: Hergotzer, The Abomination of the Void
#Hergotzer, The Abomination of the Void
Lore:
There was once, long ago, a young boy, living in a village at the border of the current Shuriman desert. This boy was dutiful and sharp, always helping with the village's chores and the elders. The boy was especially eager to help the village's shaman who gladly accepted his eagerness, for the shaman was old and she had never had apprentices. Over time the shaman taught more and more to the boy, until eventually formally declaring him as her apprentice and a potential successor. Even though many had wanted him to become the chief, the role of a shaman is just as great, and the village rejoiced.
For years the shaman taught the secrets of the earth, water and trees to her disciple, and the boy took everything to his heart. The shaman saw the potential in him, and began teaching him of the more sinister and dark secrets of the world. Things better left untouched.
But all things have to end. Only years after the boy had come of age, the shaman became ill, and no medicine, herb, berry or spell was able to help her. The boy was devastated of his inability to help her, and grew increasingly distant of others. The shaman had known her time was up for a long time, and was not afraid of death or beyond, but she was worried of her apprentice. She was worried that he would crumble when she died, and that he had not learned everything needed. She wrote a letter to her old shaman friend of a neighboring tribe and asked him to finish the boy's training. After her friend's letter arrived, where he accepted, the shaman summoned the boy to her.
The shaman taught the boy of life and death, how both are, in fact, one. She told him of the great wheel of life and how he would see his mentor again. and slowly, the boy became at ease. Then she taught him of a ritual that he had to do.
In the desert, there's an ancient ruin. In that ruin, there's a doorway made out of dark stone, flowing like fire. The doorway is a crack in the world, a hole where evil seeps through. Every 4 years, a ritual has to be made that refreshes a seal on the door, keeping it shut. If the door were to ever to be opened, devils would take the world. But the shaman was dying, and the ritual needed to be done. This the shaman told the boy, and how the ritual had to be performed. After the shaman had told the last step, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and smiled. Her part in the great wheel was done.
The time came, and the boy began his journey across the desert to the ruins alone, as the ritual demanded. After many days, he finally arrived to the ruins. He couldn't see what it had once been, but he could well feel the pressing evil in there. Cautiously he entered the ruins. He was surprised to see that the inside of the ruins was in a good condition, with elaborate pictures, writing and seals scattered all across the walls, ceiling and floor. And in the middle of the great hall, the doorway stood tall, its frame flowing like it was alive. He could feel the dark power in it, almost as if daring him to perform his ritual and to approach the great frames. Silently he began his incantations, every word feeling more and more forced, like someone or something was trying to stop him.
When he was done with the incantations, there was only one thing to do anymore; to place the new seal. He took the circular piece of wood from his pocket and searched for a place for it. To his misfortune, the best was almost right next to the monument. He slowly approached the doorway, every step making his mind shake as dark fog began to surround it. As he drew closer, he found his feet sometimes stepping in strange directions, as if to enter the door. Finally he reached the place and began placing the seal, only to suddenly feel his arm grow cold and unable to move. The cold then spread to his legs and began to slowly walk the boy towards the door. The moment he touched the monument, he disappeared.
He was pulled to the world of darkness, monsters and void. And there he was tortured, interrogated and brainwashed, until what little he remembered of his old life meant nothing to him anymore. And still he was tortured and interrogated, if only as amusement to the dark world's inhabitants. He became null to the pain, every day meaning nothing to him.
But in that cruel world, there was one who wanted to help. One who did not want to hurt him. One who saved him. But there was not much to save anymore when this being finally was able to free the boy, for the dark world does not accept outsiders. Either they die in the hands of its inhabitants, or they become one of its inhabitants. The boy, under the twisted power of the world and the protection of his saver, changed and adapted to the cruel surroundings, losing what little humanity was left. He affixed his own life to the protection of his saver, who was now hunted by her brethren. For ages he fought and hid in the darkness and shadows of that abyssal universe. But he hadn't completed the ritual, and the door opened. Countless of monsters went through, and his instincts told him to follow. And so he returned to the world he had once called home, but so different from what it had once been.
Now he seeks to destroy the monsters as he did before, but also for a way back so he may protect her. The only person he cares about.
Primary Role: Diver Secondary Role: Tank Type: Melee (150 Range)
Hergotzer is a AD diver who specializes in disrupting the enemy backlines. His kit allows him to remain in battle for a very long time and even come back after lethal damage, if the situation is favorable. As he has no proper ranged attacks and only one dash with a rather long cooldown, his is prone to being kited and poked from a distance. However, if he does get on top of his enemy, he may be difficult to get rid of. His ability to use the damage he takes makes him dangerous to careless players, but simply not damaging him while he's using these abilities reduces his effectiveness greatly.
Hergotzer's passive allows him to gain resistances against all damage by building health and to dive into the enemy team, as he can revive himself with his passive if he is able to kill any player within couple of seconds after he receives lethal damage. This makes him very strong against teams with no or little disengage or kiting potential.
He is best played in top lane or jungle, thanks to his shields and sustain and because of the lack of his greatest counters, ranged champions. In team fights he has a long range dash that he may use to engage the fight, and his ultimate will allow him to theoretically double his health while the fight rampages. In this case the enemy team has to decide if they want to disengage or try to kill him quickly and then deal with the rest. Although he has a good form of sustain in lane, his only natural sustain in fight is his ult, which is heavily countered by simply not attacking him for a couple of seconds. As he only has one combat ability, his damage becomes minimal if he is not damaged.
Statistics:

Passive
Battlerage
Hergotzer gains Rage as he remains in combat. The Rage gives him damage reduction that scales with health. Additionally, Hergotzer's abilities use Rage to gain additional effects, if he has enough Rage stored up. After being out of combat for a couple of seconds, he begins to lose Rage rapidly.
If Hergotzer receives lethal damage, he becomes briefly untargetable before bursting out from his dead body as a small centipede-like creature with half of his max health. While in this form, he has increased movement speed, max Rage and can not use his abilities or items. His next autoattack is modified to deal true damage, not proc on-hit effects and it makes him dash to the target. This modified autoattack can only be used on enemy champions. If this attack kills the target, Hergotzer becomes again briefly untargetable as he reconstructs himself out of his target's corpse and puts the passive on a cooldown. If he doesn't kill his target with the attack or he doesn't use it within 3s, he dies and the passive does not go on a cooldown.
Rage gain from damage dealt to champions: 2 for every 1% of target's maximum health done
Rage gain from damage dealt to non-champions: 1 for every 10% of target's maximum health done
Rage gain from damage taken: 1.5 for each 1% of base health lost
Max damage reduction: 10-20(+0.4% of Bonus Health)% [Note: Scales with level]
Movement speed bonus: 70-100% [Note: Scales with level]
Modified basic attack damage: 100/250/400/550 (+100%AD) True damage
Health regained during revive: _100-200% _ [Note: Scales with level]
Q
Cleave
Passive:_ Cleave uses a stack system, where every use of this ability costs one stack, and every autoattack on non-structures reduces the cooldown of the next stack by 2s._
Active: _Hergotzer deals physical damage in a small cone to all enemies in front of him and applies on-hit effects to units hit (Closest unit procs on-hits first). Hitting a champion makes Hergotzer's next three autoattacks have increased attack speed and modified effects: _
First two will reduce enemy's armor.
The third's all damage will be multiplied by enemy's missing armor (1 missing armor equals to 1% increased damage) up to a 100% increase.
ENRAGED: Hergotzer uses 75 Rage to Enrage this ability. Enemies hit will begin to bleed, taking physical damage every 0.5s for 3s. Autoattacking a bleeding champion whose movement speed is higher or equal to Hergotzer's current movement speed modifies Hergotzer's Move speed for 1s. Autoattacks to slower champions or other units will instead deal bonus 20% AD physical damage from the autoattack. Hergotzer's autoattacks refresh the bleed duration.
Cleave damage: 30/60/90/120/150 (+30%AD) (+8% of Bonus Health)
Attack speed bonus: 20/32.5/45/57.5/70%
Armor reduction per attack: 5/7.5/10/12.5/15% [Note: Stacks on top of each other.]
Stack cooldown: 30/25/20/15/10s
Ability cooldown: 5/4.5/4/3.5/3s
Modified move speed: Target's move speed + 10% of Hergotzer's Move speed
Bleed damage: 10/15/20/25/30 (+10% AD) / 0.5s
Total bleed damage: 60/90/120/150/180 (+60% AD)
W
Savagery
Passive: Whenever Hergotzer slays a minion, monster or assists on champion or epic monster kills, he gains a shield with a portion of the slain unit's max health for 5s. Killing more units will refresh the shield and add to already had shield, up to a maximum of 40% of Hergotzer's Max health. After 8s out of combat, the shield will begin to drain and if Hergotzer is missing health, the shield will start to heal Hergotzer for 30% of the shield's health.
_Active: For the next 5 seconds, Hergotzer deals more damage depending on how much damage he is taking. If Hergotzer took damage in the last second of this ability, this ability lasts for another second. If he takes damage during that second, this ability lasts for another second, infinitively but puts the ability on a increased cooldown, affected by CDR. _
ENRAGED: Hergotzer uses 100 Rage to Enrage this ability. Hergotzer heals for a percentage of damage taken during the ability at the end of the duration or when he would take lethal damage.
The cooldown of this ability begins when its effect ends.
Passive shield gain: 8/11/14/17/20% of the slain unit's max health
Active damage increase: 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5% for each 1% of Hergotzer's base health lost / second
Heal: 10/15/20/25/30% of damage taken
Cooldown: 25/23/21/19/17s (+Half of the extra duration the effect lasted)
E
Predatory leap
Hergotzer channels for 0.1-0.75s, depending on the target distance. After channeling he dashes to the target area, dealing physical damage and slowing all enemies by 30% for 2s in the area.
Hergotzer can cast any of his basic abilities whlie dashing or within 0.5s after landing even if they are on cooldown. The activated ability will be modified. The activation of the second part's ability will not affect the ability's current cooldown, if it was on a cooldown already as they are counted as separate abilities.
Q: Now affects all enemies around Hergotzer but deals 25% less damage. W: Hergotzer hunches down and launches his tail 600 units in the direction of the cursor, dealing physical damage and Impaling enemies hit for 0.75s. After 0.75s, Hergotzer pulls all enemies still impaled towards him and the closest champion hit in front of him. Impaled units are rooted, but can not reduce the duration of the root but it can be cleansed. E: Hergotzer dashes forwards a short distance upon landing and gains 30% bonus decaying movement speed for 2s.
ENRAGED: Hergotzer uses 100 Rage to Enrage this ability. The ability cast after the dash refreshes its cooldown so it can be immediately used.
Landing damage: 60/90/120/150/180 (+100% Bonus AD) (+80% AP)
Impale damage: 50/70/90/110/130 (+75% Bonus AD)
Cooldown: 24/11/18/15/12s
R
Rage nullifies the pain
For the next 2.5/3/3.5 seconds, Hergotzer can not take any damage but instead heals every time he takes damage.
Heal: 20/30/40% Of damage taken, increased by 2% for every 1% base health pre-mitigation damage Hergotzer would have taken.
Cooldown: 190/160/130s
Personality: Hergotzer is direct and blunt, caring little of the morals and ethics of the world. To him everyone are food, potential amusement or direct threats. He sees violence as a way out of any situation and thinks pacifists as utopistic fools. To him greed, rage, lust and revenge are the strongest emotions that drive us forwards, and enjoys any drama that is created from these. He holds no sides in wars or politics and runs his own agenda. The life at the Void has made him aggressive but not exactly evil as to crazy. Even though he sees magic as "cheating", he respects any powerful mages. He also naturally hates voidborn creatures as they are the ones who destroyed his life. He doesn't not trust them, he simply wants someone to pay for everything he has gone through. As he does not remember his past life well, he sometimes feels confused by some simple things of the normal world. His respect for his savior is still the main force that pushes him on.
Appearance: Hergotzer is a tall, broad humanoid with an elongated head, a vertically split lower jaw and bright red compound eyes. Almost his entire body is encased in amber, chitin armor, his legs are four jointed and end in three sharp claws. He has four limbs that end in long sharp blades attached to his back and a long, blade tipped tail. In some places, notably in large joints and stomach, the amber armor is instead replaces with dark scales. He has long, metallic blades attached to his forearms which he uses in his attacks. His voice is raspy and low, almost like he's growling all the time (Quite similar to Warwick's.). He tends to stretch words and speech, making even simple sentences last a bit longer.

Thanks for reading! This is my first post here so if you find anything of note, grammar issues, or balancing issues, do leave a comment! I know that the numbers may be a bit here and there, but I wanted to share the idea. Sadly, I do not have any concept art for him, as I lack proper tools to make some. Hergotzer is an old idea of mine, and I chose to use him as my user name because of it (And because it's so weird that nobody has ever taken it before me.) I hope anyone who reads this will at least get the concept of the character, his personality and looks, even if I don't have any pics for it.
