@Riot, a few concepts
Dear Riot development team (or other proper title),
I have a few ideas that I hope you would consider implementing in League of Legends. These concepts would be relatively easy to apply and would add whole new depths and counterplay in a meta that is basically decided at the champion select screen.
First, I believe a "Sniper Ban" should be added into pro play, or at least in Diamond rank. What I mean by the previous term is, the 3/2 ban phase should be turned into a 2/2 ban, then a complete champion select immediately followed up with a final ban that targets a previous selected champion and forces the individual to choose a new champion. The purpose, besides it's pure entertainment value (ex. "Faker got sniped!? What is he going to pick next??" : "Oooooh! SKT did a terrible job making that snipe, the switch to -X champion- couldn't have worked better for them had they had chose it on purpose") is that a selected, currently meta strong first pick doesn't mean the opposing team has to build a counter team to solely that champion (most recently, Talia, Orianna). I believe adding this as an option would heighten the team playing experience. This could easily be put in by making a majority decision at the final character selection screen, then allowing the player effected to select a new champion. (Extra - To heighten a suspense driven game, the character selected could be blind picked, only being revealed at the loading screen, further creating a game-before-the-game feeling. This is merely an entertaining option)
Secondly, a new game mode for the pure enjoyment of putting another team into an interesting position, the Anti-champion selection. Have players choose the champion for the opposing player. This would not only be hilarious, but would further allow players to come up with interesting ways to brainstorm through a 'bad dealt hand'. The counterbans would be defensive, praying that your team isn't given a Teemo or out of Meta Corki. Pure AD teams would be pitted against pure melee teams, teams with terrible choices for junglers or only long range ADC's… imagine a team composed of pure tanks of your choosing. Maybe a short term gimmick, but the free advertisement by twitch channels or YouTube channels would be reason enough for it. The added byproduct of this would be data mining for under served, ineffective, or undesirable champions. I personally believe the previous statement should being the strongest reason for establishing this type of game-mode.
Third, without adding more items, certain combos of items should have a "set-bonus". What I mean by this is, two previous purchased items could have an interaction with one another that enhancing or changes it's previous effects (i.e morellonomicon slotted with Zhonya's could cause the hourglass to have an AoE effect, trapping or protecting multiple champions) . The benefits of this would be of course meta changing, but would also allow underappreciated items that have fallen out of Meta (ones that couldn't be adjusted without over powering them all over again) a chance to complement the game without feeling useless. The other bonus to this concept would be allowing teams to come back from what would be a defeat but receiving a two item set boost that could make or break a game. The structure is already in place (see Ornn, he already enhances items), all that would have to be adjusted is "if item A and item B exists, then effect C is applied".
I truly believe these concepts would enhance League, I truly hope you consider them and at least discuss their merit. If you are interested, I have a few more ideas that would, in my opinion, make league a more enjoyable game. Thank you for reading.
A true fan, Alexander
