#Three Pillars ##D - Jungle, Battle Mage, Hacker ##N - A Glitch in Society ##A - Young boy from Zaun, Magnet Whip, Bugs

#Design

##Summary Locus is a champion that is designed to fit the role of a Battle Mage inside the Jungle. He uses his Glitch Beetles to take over enemy wards and turrets. He then utilizes his whip to deal damage and close distance getting into the center of fights.

##Role: Jungle, Battle Mage

##Statistics Health: 595 - 2210 Health Regen: 7.43 - 21.9 Mana: 280 - 1130 Mana Regen: 7 - 20.6 Range: 450 Attack Damage: 55 - 106 Attack Speed: 0.635 ( + 0 - 51% ) Armor: 32 - 83 Magic Resistance: 32 = 53.5 Move Speed: 335

##Abilities

###Passive - Magnetic Chain

  • Locus’s offensive abilities mark all enemies with Magnetic chain. The mark consumes two of Locus’s auto-attacks to cause bonus magic damage to the target and marked enemies nearby. After Magnetic Chain is triggered enemies affected can’t be marked for 30 seconds.
  • Magic Damage: 20 - 190 (based on level) + (20% AP) Bonus magic damage

###Q - Magnetized Strikes

  • Locus targets an enemy for Magnetized Strike. While moving he will whip three times in that direction dealing area damage in a cone. The third strike deals bonus magic damage to the target if it lands. After the third strike Locus gains a magnetic field that attracts parts for Glitch Beetles. If Locus collects a Beetle while the field is up he gains a shield that absorbs damage.
  • Magic Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 + (60% AP) Bonus magic damage
  • Cost: 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 / 130 Mana
  • Cooldown: 10
  • Shield Strength: 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 + (30% AP)
  • Target Range: 840
  • Effect Radius: 650
  • Angle: 80%

###W - Glitch Beetles!

  • Passive - When Magnetic Chain is triggered, targets affected drop glitch beetles. Locus can walk over glitch beetles to pick them up. Locus has a limit for how many stacks of glitch beetles he can carry at a time. When Locus picks up a glitch beetle he gains bonus movement speed.

  • Movement Speed: 30% Bonus Movement Speed

  • Glitch Beetle Drop Rate: 70% Drop Chance

  • Active - Locus can send out glitch beetles to scout an area. They will target the first thing they find within the given area. Applying the following effects based on the target. When Locus activates this ability he loses a stack. Once the glitch attaches to something it will despawn. Enemy champions can target glitches.

  • Finds Trinket: Glitches can see hidden wards, it will consume the ward replacing the ward with a zombie ward for Locus. It will also give 20 extra gold for destroying a ward.

  • Finds Trap: Glitches can see hidden traps, it will disable and destroy the trap.

  • Finds Turret: If a Glitch finds a turret it will attach itself to the turret. When a turret has five glitches it will turn to Locus’s side and target enemies for a short amount of time.

  • Maximum Glitches: 3 / 5 / 7 / 9 / 9

  • Cost: 20 Mana

  • Cooldown: 2/ 1.6 / 1.4 / 1 / 0.5

  • Turret Control: 0 / 3 / 3.5 / 3.5 / 4 seconds

  • Target Range: 1600

###E - Swing Into Action

  • Locus hurls the tip of his whip which attaches to the first target hit. Locus can then recast the ability to swing in a direction. Using the second cast he will spiral towards his target. Enemy champions that make contact with him during the second cast are taunted. When Locus reaches his target it will apply magic damage and root the target.
  • Magic Damage: 50 / 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 ( + 60% AP )
  • Cost: 100 Mana
  • Taunt Duration: 1.5 seconds
  • Root Duration: 1.5 seconds

###R - Glitch Swarm

  • Locus targets an area and swings into the air applying vanish. He will then swing to the center of the targeted area and when he lands a swarm of glitches will affect the area within. Enemy Champions inside the targeted area are dealt magic damage over time and are applied with Near Sight. Enemy Champions inside the area cannot see anything outside the area. Enemy Champions outside the area can’t see anything that happens inside the area.
  • Magic Damage Overtime: 125 / 225 / 325 (+ 12.5% AP)
  • Target Range: 6000
  • Effect Radius: 550
  • Effect Length: 3 / 5 / 6 seconds
  • Cost: 150 / 130 / 125 Mana

##Tips

  • Tips for playing as Locus

  • When planning on using Glitch Beetles on turrets be sure to send some ahead of time to prepare the hack.

  • Use Glitch beetles to scout out for hidden wards to get extra gold.

  • While enemy champions are inside your Glitch Swarm, use Swing Into Action to keep them there.

  • Static strikes gives you a magnetic field that attracts Glitch Beetles, Use it on enemies and monsters to gain an extra speed boost from the passive of Glitch Beetles.

  • Tips for playing against Locus

  • Pay attention to where Locus casts his Glitch Beetles, you can destroy them before they take anything that’s yours!

  • Although Static Strikes targets a champion it’s ranged is still fixed while Locus whips. Try to step out of its range to avoid getting hit by the third strike.

  • After Locus uses Glitch Swarm and Swing Into Action he has no escapes and you can make him a bug on the windshield.

#Narrative By: The Supreme Taco ##Biography An irregularity of Zaun, Locus sees everything that happens behind the twilight smog. His robotic companions, the glitch beetles, hide around every corner surveying data back to Locus. A product of his mother’s research, he weaves through the metallic maze wielding a magnetic whip. As for those who try to step on him, often find out the hard way that Locus doesn’t get squashed so easily.

Locus’s parents relocated to Zaun for reasons beyond their control. His father, Aloraiz, had to escape a conflict from a far distant land called Ionia. His mother, Reya, once had a laboratory in Piltover but needed to relocate. Locus’s mother rarely talked about the work she did, so his father would tell him many classic Ionian folktales that ranged from an unearthly fox demon to a group of warriors entrusted to bring balance to the world. Locus fell in love with the idea of magic and dreamed of seeing it for himself. So, for his 10th name day celebration, his mother invested in a very rare hex crystal. Magic is not very common or even seen in Zaun, but hex crystals are quite known for their magical properties. Reya placed the stone in her son's hands, entrusting Locus to take care of it for her. Locus held the crystal tightly to his chest as he promised to never let go of it.

Determined to make something out of the hex crystal, Locus would often tinker around the lab. Unfortunately, Locus wasn't very innovated. After watching Locus fail numerously, his mother couldn't bear to watch Locus struggle any longer, as funny as it was. So, she taught him how to build one of her old schematics. It was nothing dangerous, just a robotic beetle designed to reach into places that were often very difficult or even hazardous. It used the crystal's energy to recharge itself for the long haul. Locus loved it! It was like a toy beetle that didn't need a windup key. Although, Locus couldn't help but notice that the hextech beetle he made had an unexpected twitched due to a glitch in its system. Despite the subtle design flaw, his mother encouraged Locus to keep at it and eventually, he'll get it right. Locus tried again and again, but no matter what he did he couldn't quite get the results he wanted. Frustrated Locus put every glitched beetle into the scrap containment, and gave up on his dreams of becoming an inventor.

As the years past by, Locus turned to the streets to play with a group of orphans down by the Border Markets. There was this boy named Ekko who recently saved a boy from a fall with an invention he created. This reminded Locus of his failure. He felt his hex crystal in his pocket. He carried it everywhere with him and never told anyone about it. But if Ekko can gain god-like powers off of the scraps he found, then surely Locus can make something out of his. He decided to give innovation another chance as he made his way back home. But what he saw terrified him.

A large mass of people surrounded his home. The building ablaze with large plumes of fire. Locus pushed the crowd of watchers searching for signs of his parent's safety. Without any reassurance, an explosion emanated from the building. Shards of metal and glass hit the faces of people viewing the accident. After the disaster reached its conclusion, tears slid down his soot-covered face. For the fires have extinguished and the mob of people disbanded, but Locus's parents never returned to him that night.

Locus entered what was left of the lab. The rooms and halls were so mangled and deformed it was barely recognizable. Reminiscing fond memories, Locus closed his eyes and slid his hand across a table, removing the ash and debris from its surface. His eyes opened when an unexpected creak crawled into his ear. Tapping his feet, he realized the panel beneath him sounded hollow. He kneeled down and lifted the steel tile from the floor. Beneath it, a hextech crate sat undamaged.

Locus amazed by his discovery put the crate on the table and felt the trimmed grooves of hextech machinery. As his hand brushed past the lock, he realized that the keyhole matched the shape of his hex crystal. Recognizing the similarities, he inserted the stone into the crate activating its built-in mechanisms. When it opened, a heap of dormant tech beetles came pouring out. Locus couldn't believe what he saw. These were the same beetles he tossed into the scrap compressor, but how did they end up there? Pushing the beetles aside Locus reached into the crate to extract the rest of the contents.

He first pulled out what seemed to be a metal rod. Unable to identify anything special about it, he tossed the stick over his shoulder. He reached into the very back of the crate finding a pile of papers. It appeared to be log entries for his mother's research. Locus flipped through the first few pages which talked about a discovery of a fossilized source of magic that roamed prehistoric Piltover. She would use the fossil to perform an experiment that might revive magic into the people of Piltover. The next few pages gave Locus an unsettling feeling. Each page showed the process and results of each separate experiment. What sent chills down his spine were the pictures of children found on the streets of Zaun. What in the world was his mother doing? Flipping faster and faster Locus became petrified when one of the pictures on the page revealed him.

A metallic noise shook Locus out of his dazed look. Someone was coming, could it be chem-barons or even vigilnauts? Whatever it was Locus did not want to find out. He stuffed the papers into the crate and closed it. After placing the crate in the hole he found it in, he covered it up with the same floor panel. Trying to remain quiet Locus hid behind a pile of rubble. He poked his head around the corner and spotted the unwelcomed guest. It wasn't a chem-baron, neither was it a vigilnaut, but instead it was a tall, well-dressed woman with legs as sharp as knives and bright blue eyes that glowed in the darkness as they scanned the room. Her gaze almost met his as he slid back behind the pile of rubble. He could hear the woman's steps come closer and closer. Tink, tink, tink, tink. Locus spotted the metal rod from the crate and picked it up with both hands, thinking that he could defend himself. An unexpected crunch stopped the woman from walking toward him. She looked examined her foot find it impaled one of Locus's glitched beetles. Locus took this as an opportunity to escape.

With silent steps, he made his way to the nearest exit. The woman had just found the hextech crate. As he left the room unharmed he gave out a sigh of relief, and suddenly the metal rod in Locus's hands fell apart. His heart dropped with each metal bearing hitting the hard steel flooring. Locus looked back in the room to see that the woman disappeared from where she was standing. At this moment Locus bolted into a sprint. As he ran down the dark corridors, he could hear the slashing of metal following behind him. After a series of using shortcuts, Locus stopped by a cliffside that was created by the explosion. It wasn't supposed to be there! With no other options left Locus jumped off the edge escaping the woman's grasp.

Falling, Locus screamed so loud the people of Piltover could hear him from down there. All of a sudden, the metal bearing flew to Locus and aligned with his gaze. Gripping onto the rod, an intense jolt of magnetic energy spiraled from it and through the metal bearings. On the end of the link, a metal bearing connected to a stray pipeline. Locus still screaming swung across the air. Trying to catch his breath, a glitch beetle crawled from out of his pocket and onto his shoulder. Locus looked at the beetle on his shoulder and then continued screaming. The sudden yelling caused the glitch beetle to twitch violently. When the two of them landed on an elevation platform Locus caught his breath, as well as the glitch beetle, slowed down the twitching. Locus stared at the metal rod in his hands as the metal bearing reconnected with it and the mysterious energy disappeared and it returned to looking like a metal stick.

Locus persistent on finding out how he did that examined the metal rod closer. The glitch beetle mimicked his curiosity. Realizing that it must've had a source of power he reached into his pockets to get the hex crystal his mother gave him. A devastated look crossed his face when he remembered he left it in the hextech crate. Then he realized that the glitched beetle also needed a source of power to activate. Thinking back to the documents of his mother's research, Locus couldn't believe the thought that came into his mind. With concentration, he held the metal rod in his hands. It dismantled itself while connecting all its pieces through a magnetic chain. Locus was the source of energy powering up the magnetic whip.

With more unanswered questions, Locus traveled back to the lab the following day. But when he got there, he found that the hextech crate was gone, and his mother's research, nowhere to be found. Restoring power to the dormant tech beetles, Locus couldn't help but wonder, was his parent's death an accident, or was it caused by the hands of something more sinister. There are some, who would prefer that the people here stay magicless. With conviction and intent, Locus searches between the mirrored cities for clues that connect to the death of his parents.

##Animations

  • Going over animations I haven’t mentioned
  • Enemies inside Glitch Swarm get an animation of beetles crawling around the corners of their screen. (GROSS!)
  • When Locus Dances he does the whip and nae nae!
  • Locus’s recall is him cracking his whip before it retracts back into a metal stick. He then turns around as a swarm of glitch beetles surrounds him and then he disappears back to spawn.

##Questions?

  • These are some questions I'd like to answer before I finish
  • Why does Locus have Magical Powers when he lives in Zaun?
    • At first I didn't think of Locus having magical powers, but after two drafts of his biography, I noticed that his parent's research had a huge role in his development as a person. But because Locus didn't have any powers, it pushed aside the research on returning extinct magic. With the death of his parents, there were absolutely no results for their research which means this had no effect on Locus, other than his parents dying. So instead I made him part of the experiments, causing him to be the final product of his mother's research. Becoming the first humans to return magic to Zaun.
  • Why is his whip made out of magnets?
    • After giving Locus powers, I needed to decide what sort of magic is he wielding. If he is an embodiment of a hacker than his character should be taking advantage of everything there is in the environment around him. If hackers use the "internet" as their digital playground than Locus would need Zaun as his metallic playground. If he were to manipulate anything inside this environment he would need to have the power to control magnetic fields. But because the progress of Piltover and chemicals of Zaun killed this ancient magic, Locus's powers are weakened significantly. On top of that, he is no master of light or chosen of an aspect. It is because of this his mother invented a device that would amplify Locus's magical energy and give him the ability to wield magnetic fields at will. Unfortunately for him, the magnetic field can only stretch as long as Locus's whip, which means he can't quite tear down buildings or lift bridges like Magneto from the X-Men. In conclusion, Locus's whip is a tool used to amplify his abilities.
  • Why are his glitch beetles so twitchy?
    • In the lore I specifically made it so that anything Locus invents will end up being slightly defective. The reason for this is that his magical powers of controlling magnetic fields are significantly weaker to that of Lux or Ahri. Despite this, his magical energy is there none the less which means he is unconsciously emitting a tiny magnetic field. And if you think about the old days when you put a magnet next to a computer screen, the computer screen would crash, die, or even get damaged. That is why his glitch beetles are so defective, but that doesn't stop them causing the enemy teams equipment to be defective.
  • Why didn't you write a short lore?
    • My specialty for these types of concepts are in Narrative. I put a lot of effort into writing my characters biography to the point I don't feel like watering it down for those who don't want to read. Also, most champions get the character details down in the first paragraph. So if you don't like reading and want a short lore you can just read that.
  • What made you want to write this lore?
    • I wanted to write a story about progression vs magic. In the real world, there are lots of debates about construction vs nature, and how some of the rainforests are being cut down, destroying wildlife, so on and so forth. In this case I wanted to say that Piltover and Zaun once had magic/nature in their society but with the rise of technology and progression, that magic was cut down and slowly disappeared. With this the people of Piltover and Zaun had to adapt to this way of life in a world without magic, and eventually, the memory of that magic disappeared entirely. Kind of like the dodo for League of Legends.

Thank you reader for exploring my champion concept and if you have any more questions, critique, commentary, feel free to post it in the comments below. Thanks again and have a happy rest of your day!

Hey everyone, sorry this took me so long to get ready for the November 2017 CCOS. Also sorry if you're having trouble with the Images and Videos. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to appear on the forum (Noob). I will figure it out someday! Anyways the concept is more important than minor difficulties and it won't stop me from posting this up for the contest. Good luck everyone for the CCOS and have a good rest of your day!
