[Quick Champion Concept] Edgar, the Battle Weary Commander

Lore/Background Born into poverty within the slums of an ancient city. A boy made his way in the world. His presence shook the very foundation of the sturdiest of men, and broke the constitution of the toughest. This boy rose from the slums to become the highest in the military of his kingdom. The commander of its armies. With his skill, charisma, and intelligence he swept the battlefields free of all enemies. Battle after battle. War after war he fought in the name of his kingdom. Soon, all who heard his name came to both fear and respect it.

His life was filled with battle after battle. Fight after fight. He was tired and growing old. Only one scar ever had he attained. Over his right eye where he had blocked a blade meant for one of his men. Now, he wished to retire, and with the kingdom in peace he was allowed this request. It was in retirement that he died of simple age. His king, young when the man became commander was no middle aged. In honor of the best commander his kingdom had ever seen he was entombed within a citadel. To stand watch for eternity over its people. Unbeknownst to both the king and commander, the citadel had been built over ancient magic. Powerful magic. "May he watch over us always and defend us from evil. May his watch be eternal and strength as it once was, always." Upon uttering these words during the commanders entombment the magic did just that.

These words were meant as a farewell. A way to honor the commanders passing. However, it is said that from that day forward, when the days of peace were over and war once against found the kingdom, a shadow enveloped the battlefields. A looming presence with such intensity that it drove the enemies into retreat and led the kingdoms forces to victory. Even to this day they say that it is the commanders spirit. Waiting for the day he would return once more to his body, and indeed he did. His spirit returned to his body years later. Returning him to the days of his prime.

All those years of battles after his passing returned to him. His presence in them. The way he helped his allies to victory. It is said that he awoke here, in Runeterra where his kingdom once resides. His first words uttered were, "To the battlefield again."

"But, if that were true why hasn't he shown himself?" The young boy with a skeptical look.

"Perhaps it is because he is here, telling you stories!" The storyteller exclaimed as he removed his hood to reveal the scar over his right eye.

The children gasped and then laughed, exclaiming that he was a funny storyteller and did not believe his tale. It mattered not to the storyteller as the children were happy and ran away laughing. It was only after all the children left that a man appeared beside him, knelt.

"Commander, the men are ready. Shall we depart?" He asked in a tone that bespoke a man who held him in highest respect.

The storyteller stood and stretched, groaning. He reached behind a bush nearby and retrieved his sword and helmet. Donning the sword as he walked on with the man who now strode beside him. As they walked down the hill towards the hidden band of men prepared to march he uttered the very words upon his revival.

"To the battlefield again."

Though not seen in the picture, my champions eyes are sky blue. Also, the picture depicts a beard, but I'm not sure how well that can be seen, but my champion also has the same type of beard. As I said, I don't take any credit for the image as I am just using it as a reference, but the image resembles the closest to my champion concept.

Size of Edgar's Model If Edgar was in game he would be slightly taller than Garen, but smaller than Sion. He is bulky, but mainly due to his cloak.

Presence Presence is a unique resource to Edgar and ties into his passive. The use of Presence and how he gains it lie below.

Presence per level 25 base+25 every level. Max of 450 presence at lvl18.

While Edgar is near allies he gains points of Presence every second per ally champion near him. Edgar also gains Presence as he fights and uses abilities. Presence slowly diminishes when not near allies.

Radius to Gain Presence: 1000 Presence per Champion: 2 every second. At level 6, 11, and 16 the amount of presence per champion increases to 3, 4, and 5 respectively. Presence per attack: 3 each hit. Presence on ability use: See abilities. Presence lost while not near Allies: 1. Increases by 1 every second until depleted. This takes effect if Edgar is not near any ally minion, champion, or structure after 5s.


Passive http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/6/icons_5155_btn.jpg *Commanding Presence Allies within a certain radius of Edgar gain passive bonuses depending on the amount of Presence Edgar has accumulated. These bonuses do not apply to Edgar himself.

Radius: 800 Bonuses: 0.5% Bonus Attack Speed, 0.2% Bonus Armor and Magic Resist, and 15% Bonus Health and Mana regeneration for every 5 Presence that Edgar accumulates. Max Bonuses at lvl18: 45% Bonus Attack Speed, 18% Bonus Armor and Magic Resist, and 135% Bonus Health and Mana Regeneration with full Presence.

When Edgar dies he kneels and his vision is halved. While in this state he is invulnerable and cannot be targeted except by an ally who can click on him while within range. Doing so will revive Edgar after a short time restoring a percentage of his health depending on the amount of Presence he has at the point of revival. However, when he is kneeling his Presence begins to decrease after a short time at an increasing rate. If his presence reaches zero before being revived then he dies for good. His Presence freezes at the current point when an ally is trying to revive him.

Revival Range: 200 Revival Cast Time: 1s Health Restored Upon Revival: 0.2% of Maximum Health restored per point of Presence. At lvl18 can revive for 90% of Maximum Health if at full Presence. Time Before Presence Decays: 2s. At levels 6, 11, and 16 the time before decay increases to 3, 4, and 5 respectively. Presence Decay Rate: 1. Increases by 1 every second until depleted. This decays even if there are ally champions, minions, or structures nearby. It only stops depleting once an ally champion begins to revive him. Cost: Upon revival all of Edgars Presence is removed and must be accumulated once again.

The banner stays for a short time and grants Health Regeneration to nearby ally champions. Enemies may remove the banner by standing on it. If edgar goes too far away the banner is put on full cooldown. Edgar may recall the banner at any time. If he does so Commannding Banner goes on a reduced cooldown depending on the amount of time left on it.

Cast Radius: 800 Duration: 3/6/9/12/15s Health Regeneration: 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5% of Edgars Maximum Health every second to nearby allied Champions. Radius: 600. Centered around the banner. Removal: Enemies may stand on it for 1.5s without moving, attacking, or being attacked to remove it. Also, if Edgar moves 1500 units away the banner will disappear. Cooldown: 20s. The cooldown starts once the Cammanding Banner is removed by any source or when its duration ends.

While United the ally champion is granted bonus movement speed while moving towards towards each other and takes less damage while near Edgar. Edgar gains increased Presence from United ally champion. Only one ally may be United with Edgar per game. So choose wisely.

Bonus Movement Speed: 5/10/15/20/25% Range at which Movement Speed takes place: 800 Damage Reduction: 2/4/6/8/10%. Damage Reduction Radius: 600 Increase in Presence from United Allies: 1/2/3/4/5

Enemies along Edgars charge path are knocked up into the air and damaged. Upon landing all enemies within a small radius are knocked back, stunned, and damaged. Their United ally is granted a shield based on a percentage of Edgars maximum health upon arrival.

Commanders Charge Range: 1000 unit radius. The radius is centered on Edgar and their United ally must be within its range to be used. Knock Up Duration: 0.5s Knock Up Damage: 10/20/30/40/50 (+30% Armor)(+30% Magic Resist) Radius of Impact: 350 Knock Back Range: 200 Stun Duration: 0.5s Damage of Impact: 20/40/60/80/100 (+50% Armor)(+50% Magic Resist) Shield Strength: 50(+2/4/6/8/10% of Edgars Maximum Health) Shield Duration: 5s or until depleted. Cooldown: 20s

Edgar's spirit envelops the targeted ally champion like a suit of armor. Enemies within a small radius around the allied champion upon the spirits creation are feared for a short time. During the duration Edgar's spirit takes damage on behalf of the allied champion and grants bonus damage to their basic attacks. Melee champions are granted increased basic attack range.

If Edgar's spirit is destroyed the allied champion is slowed and Edgar takes damage.

Cast Radius: 600 Duration: 6/8/10s Slow to ally upon Spirits Destruction: 30/40/50% that decays quickly over 3s. Damage to Edgar upon Spirits Destruction: 100(+10% Maximum Health) true damage. Stats of Edgars Spirit: Edgar's spirit takes on the exact Health, Armor, and Magic Resist as Edgar himself. Bonus Damage on Basic Attacks: 5% Edgars Maximum Health as Magic Damage. Basic Attack Range for Melee Champions: 500 Fear Radius: 300 Fear Duration: 0.5s Cooldown: 100/90/80s

Eternal Spirit and CC Effects: Stuns are passed on to Edgar's spirit which immobilizes it. Being immobilized causes the bonus damage and attack range to be nullified. The ally can still move around and the spirit still takes damage for the ally. The ally champion with Eternal Spirit is immune to knock ups and knock backs unless the spirit is immobilized. Snares, Blinds, or other vision altering effects still effect the ally champion, but the damage done is to the spirit. Completely immune to Fear effects while effected by Eternal Spirit.

Animation Notes Edgar's spirit looks exactly like Edgar, but in multiple shades of blue and ethereal. The spirit becomes twice the size of the champion effected by Eternal Spirit and envelops them like a suit of armor. It mimics their movement, moving and running with them. For melee champions he swings is sword in similar fashion to their own weapons, but with much longer range. Example: He thrusts his sword if Xin Zhao is effected instead of swinging it. Etc. for each champion he uses his weapon as close as possible, but with their attack speed and damage. Ranged champions he swings his sword which sends blasts of energy along the path of the missile with the same speed. Much like how Kayle's E works.

Edgar's personality is that of a kind and caring man. While he is gentle, kind, and caring he has no patience for those who entice war and fight for the same of fighting and will quickly fight those who do. He believes in honor, chivalry, and protecting those who need protecting.
