league of legends tourny
Over the years and with growing popularity of e-sports games, including league of legends, there are many avenues that can be taken as a spectator sports. From my knowledge and own experience of watching, there is a huge community of players that actively watch the pro's and amateurs play the game; be it from the lcs, worlds, all stars or the fun events such as the casters playing. These are all fantastic steps in the growing e-sports community, but more can be done.
My suggestion: There are currently over 125 champions in league of legends and there is the big question of who is the most dominant in not only team play but also as a solo champion. (we see the likes of adc's and apc's ruling in the 1v1 tourney's, but there could be some surprise champions that have not been considered. You get all the champions listed by name into a hat, on air you show that each name pulled out is completely random (this is important as you don't want to be seen fixing match-ups for certain champs to progress further, and pit them against each-other in a 1v1 knock out stage where the winner progresses and the loser is eliminated (eventually leading to an over-all winner, the grand champion of champions.) it's a simple concept, but i believe if done correct could see a huge views and ultimately revenue for riot as a company.
After this initial tourny, and seeing how it does with the public, you can then make other match-ups such as meta top lanes 1v1 battles, apc even supports ect, there is many things that can be done. later on there can be a 2v2 scenario that follows the same principle as the main, but you combine 2 champs together randomly before pitching them against eachother.
I know that there are some issues with this (the main one concerning that there is an element of player skill and mechanics that have to be factored, but there are ways around that issue if you have maybe the battle go on 3 rounds using different people for each match up, making things more even as the skill levels will change but the champions don't.
I have toyed with the idea for a while now, but i don't have a name that is recognisable to bring people to watch off the bat, but i would be enthusiastic in helping in anyway i can.
