Possible Path to adding skill expression and theme to Sona
So Sona has been in a state where Riot admits she could use some work. Possibly to increase the skill needed to unlock her full potential. Theres also the issue of Sona not living up to her theme where the player can create music or plays with music.
Just look up the Guzheng, the instrument the Etwalte was based off of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWUWCddcQTY
It requires a lot of precise movements, but it can be played simply, but the idea that persists are rows of lines, being struck repetitively and fluid rhythm with well thought out notes that MEAN something.
These sets of ideas are designed to fix these issues.
Kit Suggestions
New Passive: GRAND STAFF Sona has four lines in front of and behind her that faces the direction she's attacking. Combined these lines cover an area about 250 units wide and have a 550 range. Using a different ability changes the line Sona fires from and generates a unique aura for 3 sec that empowers her and allies in the AoE. Each ability will now fire an attack. Sona's AA and abilities must follow these lines and they stop on the 1st enemy hit, but upon using an ability, it and the next 3 AA will pass through all units to the end of the range.
Power Chord After casting 3 basic abilities, Sona's next basic attack deals 20 - 240 (based on level) (+ 20% AP) bonus magic damage, with an additional effect depending on the last basic ability cast. Power Chord resets Sona's basic attack timer.
Just for fun the tone of the notes will change based on her target's distance from her. Like a guitar
New Ultimate: Name? Casting will repeat the last 4 casts or AA automatically in sequence
If an enemy is hit by 3 or more Abilities or AA during the ultimate they will be Stunned and forced to dance.
I didn't want to play around with Sona combining different effects to create new abilities or effects because that is not what she is about
How ever I do feel that each ability should have a unique note, and that AA following an ability until a new one is cast should have notes within a certain range. This way the player can create music as they play Sona.
Additionally with this set up Sona will have to get more creative with her placement or movement. Enemies and will not longer be automatically affected by Sona if they are just within range. Allies should be moving to either get at her back or at her face, or she should be turning to assist them. The same goes for enemies.
