Barbados (My League of Legends Champion Idea)

First and foremost, please be gentle, first champion idea ;)

Link is to the Google Doc that I have everything written down on. I'll be copying it here, but sometimes It's nice to have an original copy.

Name: Barbados

Title: The Pirate General

P.S. was trying to make an ADC Champion, probably failed.

I don't have any artwork(because I can't draw -_-), so I'll try to describe him as best I can:

Barbados isn't an ordinary pirate. He doesn't have an eyepatch, nor a parrot. His stance isn't quite as rapscallious as someone like Gangplank. He seems a bit sure of himself, confident, almost to the point of pure cockiness. Spends his time looking down on others, as he feels he is the better of them all, I mean, he does own an entire Armada of pirate ships.... Instead of the normal red surcoat that most of his pirate brethren wear, Barbados prefers a more silvery gray tint. Dark, but not too dark. The color is just right to make the Golden buttons and embroidery pop subtlety. If one was not to know of Barbados' Pirating ways, he might easily be mistaken for a more lawful commodore. However, they should soon realize Barbados' true intent, as they find themselves staring down the barrel of his musket.

Lore: TBH I'm not much of a lore guy. Couldn't come up with a decent backstory if I tried. Apologies. :(

Passive: Barbados' Armada - One of Barbados' pirate ships follows him around on the battlefield, providing support. While Barbados' Ship is following him, Barbados gains 1/2/3/4 bonus mana regen per 5 seconds and 2/3/4/5 bonus Movespeed. If Barbados' ship is destroyed, he becomes enraged, losing the previous buffs, and gains 5/15/25/35 bonus AD and 5/10/15/20% bonus AS for 1 second. If more than one ship is following Barbados, the passive buffs stack. The destruction buffs do not stack, however, if another ship is destroyed while the destruction buff is active, the buff timer refreshes. The ships are treated as minions, and are targeted the same way. (Champions may target with AA/Summoner, minions/monsters target nearest. Ships die in 3 hits from Champions, 6 hits from minions/monsters, and instantly from smite) Barbados may attack his own ships(Because a Pirate can do as he pleases). If Barbados lands the last hit on his ship, the destruction buff increases from 1 to 3 seconds. A new ship is spawned every 20 seconds. If Barbados already has the maximum amount of ships out, Barbados does not gain another.

Q: Scatter Shot(Active + Passive) - Barbados passively gains 1 charge of “Scatter Shot” every 7/6/5/4/3 seconds (Max charges: 15). Upon activation, consumes all charges of “Scatter Shot” to deal 3/6/9/12/15 + (.08*AD) per charge consumed to an area 300 units wide within 800 range. If Barbados has no charges of “Scatter Shot”, this ability can’t be cast. Active CD: 14/13/12/11/10

W: Scourge of the Seas(Passive) - Whenever Barbados attacks an enemy champion, they receive a stack of "Scourge". "Scourge" reduces enemy damage output by .5/.75/1/1.25/1.5%, and stacks up to 5 times. "Scourge" lasts 3 seconds unless refreshed. The first enraged auto attack against an enemy champion expends all stacks of "Scourge" to deal 2/5/8/11/14 + 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2% of Max HP per stack in true damage. If an enemy does not have any stacks of Scourge, the first enraged auto attack stuns the target for .75 seconds.

E: Jetsam(Active) - Barbados instructs all his current ships following him to throw supplies overboard, removing all charges of “Scatter Shot”, and granting Barbados a burst of 1/1.5/2/2.5/3% bonus movespeed per ship for 1.5 seconds. Jetsam supplies stay on the battlefield for 10 seconds. Allied and Enemy champions can walk over the Jetsam supplies to collect them. If an ally collects a Jetsam supply, Barbados gains one charge of "Scatter Shot", the CD of “Scatter Shot” is reduced by 2 seconds, and the ally that collects the supplies, as well as Barbados, gain 10/20/30/40/50 (+ .08AP) HP. If Barbados himself collect the supplies, He gains 2 charges of "Scatter Shot", the CD of “scatter Shot” is reduced by 1 second, and he gains 15/30/45/60/75 (+ .12AP) HP. If an Enemy collects the Jetsam Supplies, they get half of Barbados' movespeed bonus(.5/.75/1/1.25/1.5% bonus movespeed) Active CD: 23/21/19/17/15

R: Call to Arms!/Add to Armada(Active + Passive) - Barbados instantly gains ships equal to his current max limit, still unable to go over the limit. For the next 5 seconds, Barbados’ ship destruction bonus is doubled, and whenever a ship is destroyed, it is instantly replaced. / Barbados starts with 1 ship following him, and for every rank put into “Call to Arms!”, the max ships following Barbados increases by 1. (Max 4) Active CD: 150/125/100

I do realize that it might seem a bit OP at first, but I'd like to say that I am 100% OPEN to comments/criticism/suggestions. This was my first champion idea, so I know it's not going to be perfect right off the bat. If you do leave any comment/criticism/suggestion on here, feel free to also leave it on the google document. The more ways you tell me, the more likely I am to see it. Thanks! :D

this kit seems muddled and confusing with strange play patterns. i think that stems from this idea of ship that follow you which his whole kit is built around and just seems like such a strange mechanic. reading this kit he seems very bruiser like, think gangplanks brother or cousin, he sounds like he wants to be able enrage and run at people while most adcs have some feeling of finesse to them, a sense of precision or pleasure in taunting their enemies for not being able to reach them. this guy doesn't seem like he has that.

you seem to use "passive" as anything that has a persisting effect which is not really how that is used i wouldn't call his ult replacing ships that brake while it was active a passive, i would just say that's part of it being active. also i feel like q building charges doesn't need to be called a passive (vel'koz's w passively stacks up to 2 charges but that doesn't passively effect his play so its not called a passive). i bring this up for the sake of clarity.

a quick over view of the kit: the passive is kind of ball of stats olaf ult like in that you passively get some stats and then something happens and you lose those stats in way of more aggressive stats. the whole ship thing seems like a weird thing to want to play around, especially cus it seems fairly good to have your ships smashed. so as an enemy do you try to brake the ships or do you try to keep him from braking them? it just seems like vs him you expend your resources to brake his ships and that opens you to getting traded on in addition to making him stronger for that trade.

his Q seems interesting, the idea of stacking charges that are fully consumed, it makes for a play style of farm trade go back to farming. i think theres a cleaner version of it then you have here.

this W seems stupidly strong. you can make it hard for people to fight back vs you as well as popping people with %hp true damage. %hp true damage is just not something that should exist. both those damage types serve a similar purpose and don't need to be combined.

i think thematically the idea of "let me drop this shit and run fast" is fun but this E seems it was put in for the sake of duo lane interaction. however kind of seems like a tantrum "i'm gona throw my stuff on the ground for my support to pick up while i go kill things". this speed bost is also part of what makes him feel like a bruiser to me. duo lane interaction is defiantly something to think about when designing an adc but i don't think this is a good iteration of it.

so the ult is to boost all the stats he gets from his passive, why would an enemy brake his ships if he ults then? does he waste ult timer to brake his own ships? this is one of those ults that says "and now i do what i did more even harder" and i feel like he could use the added identity from a cool ult.

here is a question that i feel is important to ask when making a champion: what was your hope for this design?

was it another pirate champ? a new adc? his Q? his W? his E? this idea of something following you that gives you stats and the enemy interacts with?

post is a bit longer then i intended. sorry about that...

ok so thinking along the thematic line of "i'm the captain of a fleet" with a strength in the size of the fleet but an obvious need to use said fleet. what if he had ghost ships that follow him giving him some noticeable but not over kill stats and he has a spell that uses the ships. something like:

he can have up to 5 ships in his fleet giving +3/6/9/12/15% attack speed (as an example) when he casts Q he send out a ship in a line doing damage and removing a ship from his fleet.

the idea being keeping ships in his fleet gives him more sustained damage but he can trade that for upfront burst. perhaps the q cool down in low but the fleet restocking is higher allowing someone without proper ship management to spam themselves out of ships leaving them in a weakened state.

i would also suggest taking a little less from other champs, or at least stay away from a major identity piece (ie vayne's silver bolts) to make sure the champ feels uniquely their own.

kit notwithstanding, he seems to embark a bit on Gangplanks territory in terms of theme...
