Ironstylus, Sebbles my argument for why a traditional Sion skin is needed.

It may be odd coming from me, but a Traditional Sion skin is a must. It may seem odd coming from me as in the grand scheme of things I've not played as much. I haven't mained Sion since S1, and how could I be so attached to the old Sion's style?

I'm not. I'm really not at all, but I want to support the game by buying Champs and skins. This is something I -will not- do as long as the Mechanical and visual aspects of the game remain so unstable. Between reworks and visual updates, when I look at a skin or a champion on the store, I don't even hesitate, I will not buy, because I'm not sure what it will look like 4 months from now. There is no security net that ensures that when I buy something I like, you won't go changing it. So, I'm going to harp on this Sion traditional skin over and over until you get the point, because you may hit a character I get invested in, and I don't want this to be the precedent.

What if you were as stubborn with the Warmonger skin as you are with Sejuanni? "No backsies on complexion improvements" Would people have received a refund?

One of the reasons that was stated for why traditional skins aren't needed is

Well... our current line of thinking is that if we do it correctly and give them respect, we won't need to create a Traditional skin at all. When we make any mega changes, it would still fall in line with who the character is. We can never be 100%, but hopefully we're still getting an A.

Unfortunately I'd have to disagree. First, people buy skin for the aesthetics. They buy them because they think they look good. They don't care if you give the old skin respect, they bought the old skin, -that's- the one they wanted. Going by the above, and everything you chose to keep from old Sion, you could have replaced Yorick's shovel with an axe and made that Sion, and you would have still fell in line with who the character is, because all you really kept was big, undead, and has an axe.

We think it’s important to solve this, especially since we believe skins are primarily about self-expression and fun, not exclusivity.

I honestly don't feel that this is being held to. If skins are about self expression and fun, you need to make sure you're removing as few as possible, and not as many as possible, as it seems you are doing now. I get you've got the great artistic ideas being thrown around, but if you really think a skin is so good you need to use development resources and give it to us for free, then just do it, but don't take away a skin in it's place. Also, when you make a massive visual change to a character, like you did with Sion, the traditional skin is about the old base, and making sure you communicate to them, through action, that you know there were aspects of the old style that drew them in, and providing a security net to purchases that allow them to keep some of what they liked if you do make massive changes.

Completely agreed.

Sion has always been one of my favorite champs since I started this game, and I loved his giant zombie juggernaut style. With the remake, I approve of his kit because it fits him better but his new look doesn't say big undead zombie. It says big scarred pale guy. That's fine and all for some people but I was attached to his old aesthetic, because it was really his theme.

Now, other champions have gotten their traditional skins so people who wanted the old look can have it. Even trundle, who's model and animations have changed considerably, can have his old look on him. It was given as an option. Meanwhile with Sion, a champion who many people want the old boney look, green skin etc, they suddenly feel they don't need to make any traditional skins. He's the best Sion they can deliver.

Well, why alienate me and others who feel he should have it? Why not say, Sion is the very last traditional skin, and from him forward there won't be more if that's going to be the policy? But instead Riot cuts it off on a champion many want the skin on.

You want us to love these characters, and who they are. And you give us fun skin options. But then you remake them in the vein you think appropriate. That's fine but to not offer the traditional look, for people who fell in love with the certain themes or look of a champ is ridiculous, and insulting. It's telling us that you do what you want with champs and we either have to like it or accept it, or get lost.

Also I agree, now when a cool skin comes out, or a cool champion, I strongly consider that they may not look like that in a year or whatever, so do I really want to get them? How am I supposed to get excited about a champ that might be radically different once I get real attached to them? And I fear what will become of the ones I already like since the new policy is to not offer old looks on them.

Its fine for a game to evolve and change its characters a bit, but at least offer the optional skin that's traditional to those players, and you can have both crowds happy. Rather than some people feeling betrayed.
