Ranked Loss LP Idea

Losing a game in ranked is always hard to deal with, especially if you did well and the rest of your team fed. In that case, should you lose the same amount of LP as everyone who fed? No you shouldn't.

We all have been on both sides of this situation, you did extremely well and you still lost the game. You won your lane, rotated to other lanes to help, ended the game 10/3/7. Your teammates on the other hand, fed 10 deaths in 7 minutes, continued to force fights that they could not win, etc.

I do not know if this idea has ever come up before, I have not seen it if it did. But, I think LP loss in a losing game should be determined by how well you did. It is the same idea behind Champion Grades after the match. If you did well A+ - S+ you should not lose as much LP as someone who received a D-.

The range from D- to S+ should have different LP loss totals, D- being that you lose the full amount to S+ being that you lose 40% of a full loss. So if a full loss was 17 LP, a D- grade would lose all 17 LP, whereas a S+ would only lose 11.

To me this seems fair, I've seen games where I was on the losing side and someone on our team still managed to get an S. Why should that person lose as much as me, who got a C. So it still rewards you for doing well even on the losing team. It could also stop people from just completely giving up on a game if they know that they could lose a less amount of LP.

EDIT Here are two examples of what I mean.

  1. https://ibb.co/bYgDhw I played Cho this game that we lost. Not saying I did great or carried, but my team fed 24 deaths in 18 minutes. Even though I earned a B grade, I should not have to lose as much LP as the 0/12 bot lane.

  2. https://ibb.co/mdcYFG I played Tahm this game, we won because the Panth rage quit for 15-20 minutes then came back and just fed. If he did not afk and fed, the game would have been really close. Teemo and Malph should not have lost as much LP as Panth did for afk and feeding. It is just not fair to them, they played the game the whole way through and never once gave up. Even though they lost, they still should be rewarded.

Many people have suggested the idea, but there are quite a few problems with it.

For one, if you don't get a carry position, you have a greater chance of getting less LP, so it would increase dodges and people stealing others' roles. It would also increase afking, since you could protect your score through doing that and end the game faster that way.

Such a system would also increase fighting between teammates and promote just trying to "not lose" instead of trying to win.

Sometimes a death is necessary in order to trade for the enemy base. If the above system was there it would also eradicate split-pushing and the champs which are famous for splitting since they inherently die more.
