Logan would have otherwise cruised through a mundane life, had he not been recruited by his friends to join them in a hexball tournament. A sports game developed by hextech scientists and engineers in Piltover, player teams are pitted against each other in an indoor combat arena, in which attacks phase through players safely, as they try to score the hexball into the opponent’s net. Logan found his fun supporting his teammates by shifting across hallways, and pulling his teammates towards him and away from harm. Getting his hexball carrier to the net unscathed and amplifying his teammates’ attacks made him the most vital member of his team. Although they lost the tournament, he won the MVP award for the first Minor League Hexball season in Piltover.

Introduction
Logan is back! With an updated everything; expanded lore, reworked kit, more lines, and even an item to complement his design. This champion received a 31.6/60 on the February CCOS, which meant he needed improvement. This update takes all the feedback into consideration, and some things were changed.
Lore Feedback Skylarke liked how Logan brings a light-hearted lore to League, but needs direction. Raxistaicho agreed, believing that Logan's lore was a dead end beyond adding hexball to League. K1B0 also said that Logan needs to be fleshed out as a character. I haven't changed Logan's summary, because I still like it. What I did was begin a series of storytelling, starting with Logan's team of friends in their final game of the first season, and then opening the first chapter of Logan's adventures beyond being a hexball player. The first part takes place mostly at a restaurant, where we get dialogue between the characters, some characterization, and then they end up in a showdown with Jinx and Ziggs in the alley. My plan is to have Logan being a key player in a particular story involving creative hextech villains stemming from hexball play and strategies. The second part should be Logan being recruited for a case with the police, and maybe a chapter at his home with his family at the cliff town.
Kit Feedback Logan's passive ranged from unreliable to abusive. It was a long-term heal that couldn't save a teammate in danger. At other times, it brought too much sustain in the lane phase. So I changed the numbers to basically a flat 1-5, +1 per 100 AP, for a long-term abysmal heal. Then I added a shield component which scales only if you build support items. I stunted midlane Logan, while giving a decent shield component to support Logan's dps playstyle. Now Logan can make the most out of his ardent censer, and Athene's Unholy Grail basically now turns Logan into a team-wide bloodthirster when attacking enemy champions.
Logan's Q didn't have much justification for having a second charge in its original form. It was just kind of arbitrary, other than needing a second attack for bursting. His W was also heavily criticized for being overloaded. I broke up his W's capabilities, and integrated the cc as a reward for playing well with his Q. Now the second charge is justified, since it is now necessary for Logan's cc capabilities.
Logan's E was reworked to not be as useful as it was before. It used to be a two-part process of pulling an ally to him, followed by a portal that an ally must click. This could create problems for the ally if they are rooted or stunned, and can allow for another roaming ally to use the portal if the targeted one doesn't want to use it. All while Logan gets an escape of his own. I changed it to be more of a save similar to Tahm Kench, but instead of untargetable and a movement speed boost, it's less damage and Logan gets to blink, with a shorter time at higher levels.
Since I moved all of the rooting capabilities onto Logan's Q, his ult's cc was changed to an appropriate slow. Personally, I like this change better, since the root is not broken up between two skills, and the cc can have different applications. The damage and cooldown was not altered.
Items
Before getting into Logan, I am going to post the item here, rather than bury it later in the post. I showcased it on another recent post in its prototype form, along with a few other item ideas which are not necessary.
It's called Ceremonial Linkblade, which is a middle-ground Trinity Force-type of item for mages. It's great for mages like Logan who benefit from Nashor's Tooth and Lich's Bane, but sometimes don't have enough room on a build for both. Or maybe you want the utility earlier than normal. The power on the Linkblade is not as much, but you get a bit of eveything. It's gold efficiency is approximately 96.2%, just a little short of Trinity Force at 97.04%, and the average between Nashor's Tooth (117.44%) and Lich's Bane (82.29%) at 99.865%.
First we have the Ribbon Badge, which is an item that builds into Ceremonial Linkblade, and I am suggesting it also integrates into the build up for Nashor's Tooth. It's a straight forward second-tier item with a gold efficiency of approximately 102.5%.

And now, without further ado, here is Logan. :) Comments and feedback are appreciated. Or you can ignore and move on. It's your life.
Background
Logan lives with his family in a cliffside suburban neighborhood in Piltover, overlooking the downtown area from a distance. His parents chose to live there because it was quiet, compared to downtown, which was busy even in the dead of night. The first Minor League season was just an exhibition of the sport, so he would need to improve his skills for the next season, which would have teams refining their tactics as the game grows. He would be attending his final year of high school during this second season.
Hexball
Hexball is a new sports game developed by hextech scientists and engineers from Piltover (I would say the Yordle Academy of Science & Progress, but I hear it's not currently canon). It is played on a grid-like field, likely indoors, with two nets in open spaces, and center field being in an open space, as well.
The grid creates walls and platforms, creating passages for players, similar to the jungle in Summoner's Rift. The grid changes formation each quarter of the game, taking 4 formations throughout the match. This area is called the City, or the Maze. You must go through the maze in order to get to a net or center.
There are two objectives on each side of the enemy's maze. Both do the same thing: deal enough damage to it and a ball of your team's color appears in center field. Once the hexball appears, a teammate can absorb its energy, then being highlighted on the minimap and in the enemy's vision. The carrier can discharge the energy back into his/her hand, able to throw it in a net or to pass to another player. This is so players can make attacks while being a carrier. Getting your team's hexball into the enemy's net scores a goal! However, the ball disappears after 5 minutes, and the original objective must be completed again for the hexball to reappear in center field.
Each team is divided into 15 players. Generally, 5 players stick around the middle, ready to snatch the ball when it appears. Another party of 5 hang around in the enemy's maze, completing the objective, or ready to protect the carrier when he/she arrives with the hexball. The other 5 players defend the objective and net in their own maze. If each team completes both of their objectives, a hexball appears for each team.
Other smaller objectives can be completed in center field or in the mazes, such as holo-monsters, or getting player kills. Doing these raises your team's limit gauge. When the limit gauge is filled, it can be used by the team to gain a buff for the entire team.
Players are equipped with visor goggles, which provides them with an interface of a minimap, limit gauge for each team, and other statistics, similar to Summoner's Rift. You have vision of enemies on the map if a player's visor sees them. Players can use any hexball-approved weapons, such as melee weapons (think Ekko), bows, guns, and even shields. Projectiles and weapons phase through all players, rendering them harmless. Logan uses a pair of Hextech Pulsar gloves, which are gloves lightweight enough to look like normal gloves, but still look like hextech. He uses magic to propel blasts, and energize his teammates to make their attacks more potent.
Players have a certain amount of hit points, depending on their weight. Logan weighs 130 lbs, giving him 130 hit points. Since he's lightweight, he's installed a shifting node into his gloves for extra mobility.
Ability nodes use up energy, which must be recharged before using abilities again. Of course, there are no actual cooldowns in-universe, but there is an energy usage to hexball abilities.
When a player reaches 0 hit points, they are transported to a base behind their team's net. After a timer, they can rejoin the game. If the carrier reaches 0 hit points, the ball remains in their location until it is picked up or disappears.
Whichever team scores the most points by game's end, wins!
And that's how hexball works! Let the game's begin!
Appearance
Logan is a 17 year old human male, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Around town, he'd wear a modest Piltover outfit: a slightly steampunk version of modern clothes. However, he is pictured in his overview as wearing his hexball team hoodie and visor goggles, which would be his standard skin.
Here is a Pinterest of the photos/art which inspired Logan's appearance. The one with the blue hat could be inspiration for a snow day skin? The two people who inspired his final portrait was a combination of Paul Zimmer's head (Youtuber) and Callan McAuliffe's jacket (actor). I found that Frankensteining pictures into something else was a cheap way to make Logan's appearance, since I'm not a talented artist.
Logan's magic particles should be based on Kog'maw and Annie's hextech skins. I put together a simple animation of how Logan fires his Q here. It should give you the idea that a disc launches the projectile at a high speed, and that a strip of magic hovers around his wrist, similar to Taliyah's rocks around hers. Sorry, I didn't animate any gloves, though. But, Logan wears the gloves for sport, and he prefers the nimbleness and flexibility of a normal glove, as opposed to armored gauntlets (Vi/Ezreal). There should be that blue-ish hextech liquid light part in his palm.
Imagined Skins:
- Safe Lane Logan: A goalie helmet, and padded leather with pillows strapped to his chest and back. A flavorful joke skin that complements his kit.
Existing Skin Roster Possibilities:
- Academy Logan: A bowtie and glasses. Yellow color, compared to the other four?
- Arclight Logan: Sleek white/gold outfit, glowing eyes, abilities all same color scheme. Everyone likes the arclight skins.
- Snow Day Logan: He would look like a high schooler in winter.
- Spellthief Logan: A hood and a wand.
Story
Prologue
Here is a story I wrote detailing Logan's semifinal battle in the first season of the Minor League Hexball tournament in Piltover. It introduces a few characters and what they do, with some action to get you excited.
Case 1014-B: Hextech and Ability Nodes
Here is the next chapter of Logan's life. This begins Logan's story in first person perspective. Only the first chapter is available, which provides a bit more depth to the characters, but is still largely dialogue-driven. I'm hoping to bring more in the second chapter by introducing Logan's family, his daily living routines, and his inner thoughts, followed by the story picking up with more crime. When the second chapter is written, I will post it to the boards, if anyone is still interested in Logan by then (or even remembers).
Design Notes
My name is Keith, btw. I've loved playing Ezreal since I started playing League way back when, but I also main the Support role. I designed Logan to fill a few things, mainly to bring an Ezreal-ish playstyle to the support role. Logan is a champion concept I've always wanted to play. Here are a list of details that I tried to accomplish with Logan:
- To make a rework of Ezreal's kit into a mage/support.
- To make a champion that doesn't follow a hero/villain character arc. League of Legends is filled with heroes, villains, edgelords and kooks. I like that Riot is revamping the lore in 2018, bringing more engaging stories to the table. However, I wanted to make a champion whose story challenges established rosters of champions who fit the above mentioned archetypes. Logan's parents aren't dead, they are very much alive, and Logan still lives with his family. His origin story doesn't have him embarking on a journey, or recovering from some tragic or apocalyptic event. He doesn't even win the tournament he joins. He succeeds in being the best he could be, becoming a champion in his own right.
3) As I developed Logan, I learned that his kit seems great for Bronze and casual players. He's a point-and-shoot champion with a low difficulty (unless you consider expert flashing combos with his E). I wanted Logan to represent the drop-in support player, whose friends invited to play with them.
- I believe that with this new version, Logan's difficulty may have gone up to the middle range, now that his root cc procs off of two successful skill shots. However, I kept the bar at easy, since the root is just a reward for playing well, and the rest of his kit didn't change much.
Playstyle: Logan's kit includes two Q attack charges, a W buff, and an E blink. His ult is a global Ezreal-style projectile, which deals less damage but roots champions. In terms of subclasses, Logan could fit the artillery, burst, or enchanter subclasses. He is great for pushing turrets with an ally, and taking allies out of losing fights or incoming ganks. I hope he turns out to seem like a fun champ!
He is very squishy, though. He's among the worst in both maximum health and armor. His health regen at level 1 is also only 5.2, which is the 8th lowest. His maximum health is the 6th lowest at level 1, and 8th lowest at level 18. While his armor is fine at level 1, he has the 5th lowest at 18.
A Neat Consequence of Logan's Design?
02/28/2018. Recently, I've been thinking about what Logan brings to the table as a support in 2018. I noticed that his appearance, character, lore and kit could all contribute to a socially rewarded feeling of sportsmanship between teammates, similar to Braum's ability to light up the room.
Reading his name, "Logan," sounds like a person who comes from a familiar world. Then you read "the Most Vigilant Player," which tips off the reader about Logan being the MVP of something. Then looking at his appearance, you see a teenage male, looking like he has an LCS skin.
Then you get to the lore. His story is not about winning, it's him being awarded for being a good support. When you get into his kit, it may do just that. There could be games in which the adc might not have survived, had Logan not pulled them out of combat. Or they might not have gotten the kill if Logan hadn't added to their damage. Objective control with dragon and turrets also becomes easier when Logan joins to provide dps.
Logan's kit and lore, from the short cc window on his W, to powering up his adc's attacks, to tactics with his E, Logan is all about cooperation with your teammates, and can be incredibly rewarding when you successfully pull off a play together, or make an escape. Logan is a character who is proud to be a support, and I hope that it translates the same to gameplay. I believe that Riot can improve the support role in a way which advertises the player enjoying the role of support. I feel that a champion like Logan is a perfect solution in making the support role attractive, without having to change how the game works.
I might just be rambling here, but I do believe that there is something about Logan's design that could provide some insight into attracting more support players.
03/09/2018. Logan now counters Blitzcrank's pull in the best way, thanks to his E. If there's any champion concept which can help Blitzcrank's permaban problem, it's Logan.

Abilities
##Passive: Clouting Endurance
Whenever Logan targets or hits a champion (other than himself) with an attack or ability, he heals himself and nearby allies on hit, shielding them for up to 1 second. The shield strength caps at 75% of Logan’s base attack damage.
Healing: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 (+ 1 per 100 AP) Shield Strength: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 (+ 200% Bonus Mana Regen) Level Scaling: 1 / 4 / 7 / 10 / 13 Range: 750 units
######Note: summoner spells and runes do not proc this passive, but active item effects do.
######Note: Clouting Endurance procs Ardent Censer's passive effect.
######Note: Recurrent Blitz procs Clouting Endurance when used on an ally.
######Note: the shield does not stack, and only refreshes.
######Note: bonus shield power can raise the shield strength above its cap.
######Note: the bonus mana regen scaling is to scale the shield strength based on how many support items Logan has. The less he has, the lesser his shield is. A midlane Logan would only have a 5 power shield without any support items.
##Q: Hex Bolt
Logan fires a pulse of energy in a line, dealing magic damage to the first enemy hit, applying on-hit effects and dealing reduced damage to subsequent units hit. This ability has two charges.
Brake: Hitting an enemy champion twice with Hex Bolt within 3 seconds roots them.
Ability Type: Projectile AoE Magic Damage: 27 / 74 / 121 / 168 / 215 (+ 5% AP) Reduced Damage: 75% Mana Cost: 34 / 36 / 38 / 40 / 42 Charges: 2 Cooldown per Charge: 6 / 5.75 / 5.5 / 5.25 / 5 seconds Root Duration: 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 / 1.8 / 2 seconds Projectile Range: 1150 units Projectile Speed: 2000 units
######Note: the AP bonus to the damage scales with Nashor's Tooth, Lich's Bane, Guinsoo's Rageblade and Ceromonial Linkblade. By itself, Hex Bolt is just a skill shot poke.
######Note: example animation here. The animation speed is not to scale, but the farthest dummy was hit by Ezreal's Mystic Shot, making it the reach for Logan's Hex Bolt. Hex Bolt should have the same hit box as Ezreal's Essence Flux. Keep in mind that the animation provided was from the original version, and does not include the root on the second hit.
##W: Recurrent Blitz
Logan empowers himself and a target ally for 3 - 5 seconds, granting bonus attack speed, and attacks deal bonus magic damage on-hit for the duration.
Ability Type: Single Target Buff Duration: 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5 seconds Bonus Attack Speed: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% Bonus Magic Damage: 13 / 16 / 19 / 22 / 25 (+5% of your AP) Mana Cost: 72 / 74 / 76 / 78 / 80 Cooldown: 15.5 / 13.75 / 12 / 10.25 / 8.5 seconds Target Range: 450 units
######Note: the cooldown applies after the duration.
######Note: Recurrent Blitz will affect a nearby allied champion within range closest to Logan's cursor if he does not target an ally or missed. He will still move towards the champion if he targets an ally out of range. The purpose for this is to avoid the player moving the mouse frantically when attempting a combo with Ferry Shift. For example, targeting an ally for a pull, moving the mouse to a target flashing location, aiming at an enemy for two Qs, then moving the mouse to the ally with his W, followed by moving the mouse again over to the enemy for more attacks. This way, he can just target the ally for a pull, and execute his combo as if he were soloing a fight. The ally will still be affected by Recurrent Blitz.
##E: Ferry Shift
Logan pulls the target ally to his location in a portal, making them untargetable for up to 4 seconds, but taking reduced damage inflicted to Logan. Within that time, he can activate this ability again, blinking to a target location. At the end of the blink, the ally is removed from the portal.
Ability Type: Single Target Blink Duration: 4 seconds Reduced Damage Taken: 30 / 25 / 20 / 15 / 10% Mana Cost: 100 Cooldown: 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 seconds Target Range: 475 units Blink Range: 475 units
######Note: an ally's movement and attack commands are cancelled once targeted, and is considered suppressed while in the portal, but can still use consumable items.
######Note: the ally disappears while in the portal.
######Note: the cooldown applies after the flash or 4 second window.
######Note: Logan can blink without having to pull an ally. Blinking will put the ability on cooldown.
######Note: Logan pulls the ally at the same speed as Thresh's lantern pull.
######Note: the ally gains the reduced damage and untargetability immediately, but Logan cannot recast for a blink until the ally has reached him, indicated by an audiovisual effect.
######Note: when Logan pulls an ally, the ally becomes immune to any of the crowd control effects currently affecting the ally. The ally will still suffer any crowd control effects, duration permitting, upon exiting.
######Note: any movement or basic attack commands made while in the portal continues upon exiting it.
######Note: if Logan dies while carrying an ally, the ally is immediately booted from the portal.
######Note: if the ally dies before Logan is able to recast for a blink, the recast immediately becomes available for the rest of the 4 seconds.
######Note: Logan's flash component of Ferry Shift has a 0.25 second casting time, and cannot be interrupted by anything other than Logan's own death. He will still suffer any crowd control effects, duration permitting, after it ends.
######Note: the ally is booted from the portal at the end of the 4 seconds if Logan does not blink.
######Note: if Logan recasts for a blink at the end of the 4 second duration, he could end up dropping the ally before the blink, leaving the ally in a dangerous position. For this reason, the ally's exit from the portal is postponed until the blink is completed, and is then immediately booted from it.
######Note: if Tahm Kench is pulled into a portal while carrying an enemy champion, the enemy is booted from Tahm Kench upon his arrival at Logan's location. However, minions and allied champions can be carry through the portal for the duration.
##R: Mercury Lance
After gathering energy for 1 second, Logan fires a Mercury Lance Minimap energy projectile in the target direction, dealing magic damage to enemies it passes through, slowing champions for 1 - 1.5 seconds. The total damage deals 15% less damage to each unit it passes through, to a minimum of 40% damage.
Ability Type: Projectile AoE Magic Damage: 260 / 370 / 480 (+ 35% AP) Slow: 40 / 45 / 50% Slow Duration: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 seconds Damage Reduction: 15% per enemy hit Mana Cost: 100 Cooldown: 120 / 110 / 100 seconds Projectile Range: Global Projectile Speed: 2000 units
######Note: Mercury Lance is imagined to be either charging an attack with two hands, or prepared like a javelin. Like Hex Bolt, a bigger disc appears to launch the lance projectile, like a cannon or ballista.
######Note: Mercury Lance's cast time cannot be interrupted by anything other than Logan's own death. He will still suffer any crowd control effects, duration permitting, after it ends.
######Note: if Logan is displaced mid-cast the projectile will still fire from his original position at the time of casting.
######Note: Mercury Lance's projectile grants sight in a small radius around its current location.

Tips and Tricks
- Hex Bolt goes through minions, allowing you to take a shot at enemies behind their minions. Try firing from behind your own minions, as well, since this provides you additional security against enemy skill shots.
- Recurrent Blitz helps to push on a turret, especially with an ADC.
- Ferry Shift doesn't always have to be used to escape fights. Coordinate with a teammate if there is an opportunity for a gank.
- You can use Ferry Shift to save your teammate in the jungle by pulling them over a wall.
- Mercury Lance can be used to provide some crowd control in another lane, if your aim is accurate.
- In a heated battle, you can keep an ally alive by constantly refreshing your small Clouting Endurance shield. To get the most out of this, purchase at least one item with bonus mana regen, and start relying on attack speed buffs. Or you can continue to purchase more items that boost your bonus mana regen.
Playing Against Logan
- Go in for the kill if Logan uses his Ferry Shift to engage into a battle. He most likely won't have an escape.
- Logan can sustain damage from champions who specialize in DPS. However, he does not fair well against burst combos. Alternatively, since his endurance shield activates mostly from basic attacks, preventing him from making attacks, or preventing his attacks from hitting will prevent the shield from activating, leaving him, and subsequently his ADC, vulnerable.
- When Logan pulls an ally to him, there is a 4 second window for him to blink away. If you can prevent him from activating his Ferry Shift the second time within that time, him and his ally are stuck.
- Keep in mind that a champion being pulled to Logan can still be targeted and damaged while in the portal.
- In most games, Logan would inevitably build a Ceromonial Linkblade or Guinsoo's Rageblade. If you're feeling competent, try to punish him in the early game before he snowballs his abilities.
- If Logan casts Recurrent Blitz on a marksman, that champion may be a greater threat than Logan.
- Logan is a ranged champion. If you can close the gap, his ability to blast you with skill shots could become difficult for him.
- If you are trying to outpoke Logan, keep in mind that his attack range is slightly better than most ranged champions. If you use your basic attack on him, he would most likely hit you back. Likewise, he may try to take advantage of this attack range and try to auto attack you. When he does this, he is leaving himself vulnerable.
- If Logan hits you with one Hex Bolt, prepare yourself for the second. The second Hex Bolt is much more dangerous.
- If Logan wastes both charges of his Hex Bolt, he would have to wait for at least the next two charges to recharge. This window of time is good to dive in, since he doesn't have much of a capability to counter during this time.

Movement
"Win or lose, do it fairly." (Quote by Knute Rockne on wiseoldsayings.com. Throwing this out there, but I personally wouldn't want Logan saying it. I don't want Logan to seem wise beyond his age. His quotes should come from his personality, not making speeches. Although saying things like "win or lose, do it fairly" does stay true to Logan's theme, it doesn't stay true to his character. There is actually a quote even within the link provided which says that one person acting sportsmanlike is better than a hundred people teaching it. Logan shouldn't be one of those hundred.)
"Good plan." "Kay." "Okay." "Nice." "Watch yourself!" "Alright!" "Cool."

Trivia
- Logan is 17 years old, as of the September 22 after the first hexball tournament.
- He shares the same birthday as me and Taliyah.
- He is an INFP type of person, specifically 'the Mediator'.
- He has a slight addiction to fruit-tasty drinks, such as sports thirst quenchers and apple juice.
- Logan stands at about 5'7", and weighs about 130 lbs lean.
- Clout is a form of archery in which archers shoot arrows at a flag (known as "the Clout") from a relatively long distance and score points depending on how close each arrow lands to the flag.
Hope you enjoyed it! :)
Changelog
04/11/2018.
- Hex Bolt has been reworked a bit so it deals full damage to the first unit hit, and reduced damage to subsequent targets.
04/07/2018.
- Mercury Lance's cooldown was reduced from 120 seconds to 120 / 110 / 100 seconds.
- Ferry Shift was ruled to not synergize too well with Tahm Kench. Their abilities only stack when used on allied champions and minions. Enemy champions are booted if Tahm Kench is pulled into a portal.
04/02/2018.
- Hex Bolt's damage was changed from 52/79/106/133/160 (+20% AP) to 27/74/121/168/215 (+5% AP). His base damage was raised in favor of lowering the AP scaling, as calculated by a 400 AP full build at max rank. The reason for this is so building AP isn't the most important thing about Logan, and now he can build items like Ironborn Gauntlet and Shurelya's Reverie without falling behind as a support. Midlane Logan can still build AP and end up with the same damage output.
- Likewise, Mercury Lance's damage was changed from 250/350/450 (+45% AP) to 260/370/480 (+35% AP).
- Ferry Shift's rework was implemented.
