Araqiel the Wandering Ranger (Top/JG)
Sample Lore: expand or replace as desired
Araqiel sat atop the peak of Mount Gargantuan gazing down upon the sands of Shurima. Even as lifeless and brown and dull as it all seemed, the sands blossomed and teamed with life compared to the home he had left so long ago. He thought for a moment that if he looked back he would still see the lovely Isle of the Blessed, but nothing blooms there anymore. Only darkness and decay survives in that wretched place that he so failed. He was Ranger, a guardian with a sacred mission. Now he just wanders, incomplete, alone. Perhaps one day he will find penance, redemption. Until then he will carry his burden far away from his forgotten home.
Araqiel was born to druids, people of magic that protect and preserve the secrets of nature, on the Isle of the Blessed. While not possessing any magic of his own, Araqiel had a tremendous heart and immense martial prowess. He was trained to protect the natural world and to respect even the smallest forms of life. He was also taught when to take a life. He was a kind and gentle soul to his wards, but a fierce and challenging foe who would deliver swift justice to the enemies of the natural world. He could not stop the blackening, and his family was killed along with the entire land that he had sworn to protect. Barely escaping with his life, he was ruined. For years he wandered in search of purpose until he learned that denizens of the now Shadow Isles had begun competing in the League of Legends. Reckoning will come down upon the treacherous undead.
Araqiel's armament and look:
Trained as a Ranger since birth, Araqiel prefers to duel-wield swords. He picked up a pair of Shuriman Scimitars to replace his heirloom blades that he lost when he swam to the mainland to escape. He maintains his heirloom bow, a simple, but beautiful shortbow engraved with Sylvan runes that speak of his lineage. He is tall and well built with noble, upright posture. Light blonde hair falls in long curls down into the hood of his sand-colored cloak, his bangs tied into a single braid across his right ear. Despite his fair hair, his complexion is somewhat tan, giving his eyes an appearance similar to sapphires set in pale gold. Beneath his cloak, a simple faded, long-sleeve, green tunic clings to his chest, tucked into the waste of a dark brown pair of leather pants which are in turn, tucked into a pair of tightly fitting moccasins that conform neatly to his feet. Upon his wrists are a pair of dark leather bracers, custom hilts are strapped to his thighs and a quiver of arrows hangs over his right shoulder, his bow on his left.
Abilities:
Passive: The Tempest Araqiel parries blows and deflects damage with one sword and constantly slices at his enemy's vitals with the other gaining armor and critical chance as he gains bonus attack speed. Bulky armor and equipment hampers this ability and causes him to lose armor, critical chance, attack speed, and movement speed. This part of the effect is triggered if an individual piece of equipment exceeds certain values for health, armor, or attack damage and stacks with the negative bonuses from any additional pieces of equipment exceeding those limits.
Q: Evade and Engage
Araqiel rolls to avoid damage (short distance, still target-able, but gains a shield for the duration of the roll, can not be used to move through impassible terrain), upon reactivation within 1 second, Araqiel can dash to a nearby enemy champion, enemy minion, or neutral monster and strike it with force, knocking it back a few units and dealing damage.
W: The Sylvan's Justice
Araqiel stores arrows in his quiver. Toggle this ability to fire long-ranged basic attacks until there are no more arrows, not enough mana to fire arrows, or toggle is turned off. Arrows do magic damage and can critical, but do not apply on hit effects.
E: Ranger's stride
The familiarity of the forest still clings to Araqiel's memory. Passively gain movement speed in brush and jungle. Activate to gain a further boost of movement speed and the ability to run through impassible terrain in the jungle for a moderate period of time.
R: Enemy of the Blessed
As a ranger, Araqiel is better suited to engaging certain types of enemies known as his favored enemies. At each level of this ability, Araqiel gains a new favored enemy to a maximum of three champions.
Passively when Araqiel attacks a favored enemy he deals bonus magic damage and takes slightly less damage from the favored enemy.
When activated, Araqiel targets one of his favored enemies and winds up and charges after a very brief delay, spinning his blades and knocking away and damaging any enemy champions that get in his way, if the enemies collide with terrain, they are briefly stunned. Araqiel gains a shield for the duration of the charge. Upon colliding with his targeted favored enemy, he/she is knocked up and damaged.
Strengths: Good Mobility, Can engage from any range, good sustained damage, and fairly tanky.
Cons: susceptible to burst damage mages, can only focus ultimate on 3 of 5 enemy champions, moderate to high skill requirement, potential susceptibility to some bruisers.
Roles:
Top: As a top, Araqiel would be a good counter pick to ranged marksmen and some top lane mages. Picking your lane opponent as a favored enemy can increase your damage against them well enough to trade evenly enough to dissuade some bursty bruisers or assasins. Enough mobility to potentially evade a top lane gank with sufficient vision.
Jungle: With bonuses to jungle mobility and an active that allows you to pass through jungle terrain, Araqiel can potentially clear camps quite quickly. Taking W first can help you clear Krugs or Blue with slightly more health than some junglers left over. Taking Q next can potentially set you up for an early mid lane gank while you still have a level advantage. At level six, taking the enemy adc as your favored enemy can set you up for a massive counter gank by ulting the enemy adc and knocking aside the other enemy champions in the process. While counter-jungling, you can escape easily by activating your E and passing through impassible terrain to put distance between you and your enemy jungler.
That's all I've got for you guys! Let me know what you think. I've never designed a champion before, so any feedback is good feedback :D
