Optimizing New Player Experiences.

I am a relatively new player to League of Legends, and have recently invited a few of my friends into the game. Being a new player and hearing about all of this high level play is honestly very daunting, and sometimes disconcerting. But here are some ideas that I think would be very helpful for new people to get into the game.

===================================== **Teaching the basics. ** The basics of the game are very difficult to understand for new players, especially new players who may not have time to play with their friends. So I propose two options to help people get started.

  1. Revamped tutorial. I think that the tutorial that is in the game currently is grossly underdeveloped for the way that the game is designed. I propose that the tutorial be changed into one that has the player being assisted by a computer controlled ally as they teach the players the basics of the game as they are a new comer to the league. Thematically this will feel a lot more cohesive to the game, and it will help players grasp the core team-centric nature of the game. (E.G. Garen teaching Lux the basics of the League, (which may or may not work lore wise)). Garen Lux

  2. A mentor system. Having higher ranked players with good community standing to be able to take on lower players and show them the ropes. New players should be able to opt into this system if they are under level 10. Likewise, players that are eligible to be mentors should have a minimum required community standing and have a frequent play schedule. Setting up clear community standing rewards will be a great way to promote this system as it would be a great way to boost community standing.

Runes, Champions and the Grind A revamping of the shop system as it pertains to actual game-play and how to make it feel more like a progression instead of hitting a rock.

  1. A Wishlist I think that a wishlist would be a great way to get players to play more games and to spend more money. It may seem counter intuitive but setting up a wishlist that shows player's progression in IP to get something in their wishlist would be great. For example if a player had a champion at the top of their wishlist there would be an IP bar and an RP bar, showing how much the player has relative to the cost of the item. This will provide a visual reinforcement and help cement the player's goals.

  2. Runes I think that players should be able to earn runes in alternate ways other than IP. For example, RP purchasable Rune Packs would be great. Or even a random Rune dropping with every chest would suffice to keep players continuing to be interested in the game.

  3. Hex-tech Chests High Fives All Staff

Okay well those are my ideas. Thanks for having me on the community stream game this week and you know live long and prosper. [slayer-jinx-catface]
