Epic New-New Nunu Rework 2020 this isn't a meme

vuvuzela noises (I actually put a lot of thought and work into this, okay? >C)

So, here's my attempt at a facelift for everybody's least favorite Yeti (I only posted here after making extensive changes based on feedback from certified reviewers of custom champion concepts)

just in time for Christmas

...

Merry Christmas

Willump throws the ice bowling balls now, but not always.

(Note: for those that do not know, Willump is the Yeti and Nunu is just the little kid.)

Passive: Visionary - When an enemy champion / large monster / epic monster / enters within 300 range (Wukong Q range) of you, Nunu throws a snowball by hand at the target, dealing 35 - 150 (+ 50% AP) magic damage, a 25% cripple, and a (30% - 75%) slow for 2 seconds, similar to his current E ability.

Basic attacks lower the cooldown by 1s.

Hovering your cursor over the skill icon will reveal a ring around Nunu to show the maximum range of the snowball.

COOLDOWN: 12 / 10 / 8 seconds after snowball throw, scaling with level

What this means: Position yourself to use it to deny all-in attempts made by the enemy assassins, or to peel for your carries. Also good for ganking and keeping up a chase, like Nunu’s current E.

Q: Consume - Cost: 60 => 50 Mana Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 Active: Nunu commands Willump to take a bite out of the target enemy minion or monster, dealing true damage after a 0.4 second delay and healing himself.

TRUE DAMAGE: 340 / 500 / 660 / 820 / 980 / 1140 SELF-HEAL: 50 / 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 (+ 5% maxHP) Jungler strategies: One thing you can do is hold off until you’re hungry to start roaming for a gank, then once you find a lane you can consume a minion and proceed to rain down snowballs on your enemies from a distance - effectively forcing a siege - while your laners push the wave.

Omnivore: Can now be cast on jungle plants for the heal and Well-fed status, to be brought up later.

W: Blood Boil - Cost: 60 => 80 Mana Active cooldown: 15 seconds

Requires 1 point in Consume to rank up.

Now strictly a self-buff with a passive component.

Passive: Gain a ‘Hunger’ state when you first set a point in this ability that is replaced with a ‘Well-fed’ state that prevails for 15 seconds whenever you use Consume.

The effects of each state are as follows, based on Nunu’s level: Hungry -- gain 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% bonus attack speed and 10 / 11 / 12 / 13 / 14 / 15% bonus movement speed ( from 8 - 13% bonus movement speed.) Well-fed -- gain 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 bonus AP and 3 / 6 / 8 / 12 / 15% damage reduction.

NEW: If Willump is Hungry, you can Nibble on enemy champions for 10% damage and still gain 50% of the heal in addition to the ‘Well-Fed’ state, bypassing the usual delay.

Well-fed is refreshed if you Consume another target during it.

Dying reverts you to Hungry state upon respawning.

Active: Triples Nunu’s current Hunger or Well-fed bonus effects - whichever state you currently have active - for a limited time.

If you cast Consume while Hungry under the effects of Blood Boil, the Blood Boil buff effect will change in accordance, and the effect duration is refreshed. While this skill is on cooldown, you temporarily lose all the usual effects of your current ‘Hungry’ or ‘Well-Fed’ state by entering a ‘Weary’ state, then revert to Hungry state.

Duration down to 5 seconds from 12 seconds.

Lane Strategies: A steroid you can use to turn the tables on your opponent in a pinch. When facing an enemy gank, you can either try to escape with Hunger Boil or stay and fight with Well-Fed boil giving you those extra tank stats + AP! If you poked the enemy laner down, or they come into the lane low already, you can surprise them with a Hunger boil to get into range for passive proc then pummel them to death with autos! Teamfight Strategies: Well-Fed boil for just the extra damage while siege poking with your E, or to save yourself from a Cait ult / Nidalee spear / Zoe Q with the extra tank stats, or to just be that much more of a nuisance to kill. Jungling Strategies: Balance your use of this so as to keep yourself off Weary, lest your early clears suffer! Wait until Hungry Boil is just about to end to use Consume, for example, will change the effect to Well-Fed boil in addition to refreshing the duration!

E: Ice Bowling - Willump rolls a giant snowball in a line like a bowling ball over a great distance (up to 800), which passes through small minions and small monsters, dealing half damage to them and trapping them in its mass, then ‘plops’ in a small circular area or upon the first enemy champion, large/epic monster or part of terrain hit to deal magic damage and apply a slow and 25% cripple within a small area of effect that is larger according to how long the snowball travelled, and releases the captured minions / monsters.

COST: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 (from 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90) MANA SLOW: 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% MAGIC DAMAGE: 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 50% AP) (reduced from 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 / 280 (+ 90% AP) ) COOLDOWN: unchanged from 6 / 5.5 / 5 / 4.5 / 4

Jungler strategies: Run up to someone with Hungry Boil active for the movespeed to land your passive on them. Then, you can Consume a minion for Well-Fed before hitting them with your E which applies a stronger slow than the passive, to make it even harder for them to escape Willump’s supposed wrath! Teamfight strategies: Tag someone with your E then run up to them with Hungry boil for passive proc to slow them down even more, and beat them to death with autos! Laning strategies: Well-fed boil gives you better waveclear.

R: Absolute Zero - ACTIVE: Nunu channels for 3 seconds, Slowing by 50% - 95% (based on channel time) and crippling by 25% all nearby enemies. Moving ends Absolute Zero's effects immediately, but you can still cast Blood Boil and Ice Blast during the channel. Additionally, your passive can be activated by enemy champions who come too close to you while channeling.

When the channel is completed or interrupted, Nunu deals magic damage to all enemies in the area, reduced to 25% - 90% (based on channel time) if interrupted.

Well-Fed state will be preserved until the channel ends, and always lost when it ends.

Some major fundamental changes: Now you can cast E at a reduced (0.75) second cooldown while within the radius while it is channeling. Ice Blast projectiles are smaller and deal half damage during the channel.

OBLIGATORY NERFS: Slow strength now only starts at 25% and gradually ramps up to 95%, (from 50-95%) since now you can override it at lower values with your E or passive slow to lock down enemies for the full channel. Magic damage after channel decreased to 500 / 650 / 800 (+ 100% AP).

BUG-FIX: you will now no longer be invisible while channeling in a bush.

Cooldown: 120 / 100 / 80 (from 110 / 100 / 90) Teamfight strategies: Run into the midst of your enemies using Hungry Blood Boil, then consume a minion to become Well-Fed for the extra tank + AP stats before ulting or flash-ulting in for maximum power!

Suggested build paths: Nunu would have a lot of variety in his build paths, but with only six item slots you can either attempt to be a jack of all trades with what playstyles his kit encourages (tanky builds, AP on-hit, AP siege, AP ultimate focused burst, for both lane and jungle) or specialize.

For example:

AP Jungler Items: Runic Echoes, Nashor’s Tooth, Liandry’s Torment, Armor Item, Abyssal Mask / Spirit Visage, Choice of Boots.

Notes: A mix of tankiness and damage which can decently serve any of Nunu’s possible roles Liandry’s will apply increased burn with every E or passive you land.

Tank Jungler Items: Cinderhulk, Wit’s End, Armor Item, Spirit Visage, Abyssal Mask, Choice of Boots.

Notes: Focus on tankiness, which results in more reliable albeit less powerful ultimates in teamfights. Nunu has enough CC in his kit that you can do without the damage in your build sometimes.

AP ‘Well-fed’ Siege-focused Laner Items: Luden’s Echo, Hat / Void Staff, Liandry’s Torment, Armor Item, Spirit Visage, Sorc boots.

Notes: Sit in the back chucking snowballs all game, keeping your HP and Well-fed state up with Consume. Good if you have a lot of other siegers in your team that your long range slows can help to line up their shots. Weaker to all-ins than other builds.

AP ‘Hungry’ Autoattack-focused Laner Items: Nashor’s Tooth, Wit’s End, Frozen Mallet / Abyssal Mask, Armor Item, Spirit Visage, Choice of Boots.

Notes: Get up close and personal with this DPS build. Nashor’s empowers your autos along with Wit’s End, which will also increase the damage of your passive proc. Bruiser-y.

AP Ultimate-focused Laner Items: Abyssal Mask, Hat / Void Staff, Thornmail, Frozen Heart, Banshee’s Veil, Sorc boots.

Notes: Obtain max CDR to cast your ultimate as often as possible. Banshee’s Veil helps alleviate concerns of your ultimate being cancelled by CC whenever it’s available. Thornmail harms enemies who focus you while you’re channeling, further increasing the damage. Frozen Heart to aide in survivability to get the full channel off, and gives you extra Mana which is useful for spamming E during the channel.

Suggested masteries:

Just as NewNew has a lot of variety in his item sets, so too does he have a good pick of ideal keystones, depending on how exactly you want to play him:

Grasp of the Undying - On-hit builds benefit from the extra damage and sustain. Arcane Comet - Siege builds make good use of it. Phase Rush - GOTTA GO FAST! Lethal Tempo - hmm maybe Press the Attack - sure everyone else builds it on everything that AAs so why not Fleet Footwork - eh? Predator - uhhhh... Dark Harvest - w-w-wait...stop this madness!

Cheap Shot would be annoying on him in lane. Presence of Mind can give him unlimited mana to spam E while ulting if he can net a takedown. Last Stand since he can be hard to kill / tends to get focused hard while he’s ulting. Conditioning to amplify the resistances given by the Well-Fed state. Escape Velocity after landing an E slow can give him some sick mobility combined with Hungry Boil to engage with his ult.

Potential Inclusion: A new tooltip icon showing a cartoonishly drawn Willump face (think in the style of emotes) with changing expressions based on his current mood (after putting a point into W: Hunger, Well-Fed, Hunger + Blood Rage, Well-Fed + Blood Rage, channeling his power into ultimate, or Weary from when Blood Rage is on cooldown, so the enemy is always in the know about what state he’s in. Also, just as he’s being slain, it makes a tragic dying face with like x’s for eyes before disappearing.
