What if we could buy champion shards for half the BE price?

So, i was thinking and i see that you need 3250 BE to get yourself that nice Level 6 token you want for you champ. But i also see that you can use a champion shard, what if riot would let us buy a champion shard for the champ you need but half the BE price of it. Because you can't reroll a champ or anything nothing else can be done with the shard. And for your level 7 token you would need then 2 or 3 shards which you then again buy in the store. Because to get 3250 BE you need to atleast level 3 times or get lucky to get the shard.
