Diversity in League of Legends

So, I'm wondering when Riot is going to create a Hispanic looking character. League of Legends has a lot of diversity in the champion pool however, none of the champions look remotely Hispanic besides Illaoi. League of Legends has /a lot/ of Asian looking characters, they have their fair share of African looking characters and Caucasian along with Middle Eastern ( Qiyana ). Now I know some of you might say that they're fictional characters, however, a lot of them look like a certain type of race and based on certain cultures ( Pantheon is a primary example of that). Heck, Riot has a lot of creatures but I'm just wondering if Riot is willing to give us a character who resembles a Hispanic. I just think it would be cool.

I'm not complaining it's me merely hoping they'd add more Hispanic looking characters to the champion pool. I wouldn't know what type of abilities he or she would have but it's just the appearance of the character. What do you guys think about this? MonkeyKing

Even though im all for diversity just throwing in random characters so that everyone feels "represented" is cancerous.

Please no. Artists and game designers should have the freedom to create their characters and art as they see fit. If an artists only likes to draw angels who am i to tell them to draw ANYTHING else?

It's awful to pressure people to make diversity in a game just because. I don't care if all characters are asian, african or Martians as long as it makes sense for the game's lore.

Why does that even matter?

It's a video game. Nobody should care about a characters carnation.

Qyana ya es Latina, su actriz de doblaje es latina, y el reino del que proviene está inspirado es los aztecas,y su lore en True Damage es de una Latina......[zombie-brand-facepalm]

In the end, it comes down to what the people of Runeterra look like. If Runeterra was just all white/black/asian/latino/samoan/ajeiowcjiasci people then that is what would exist. Now, I believe Qiyana would resemble latino, but that's just me. It's based on the population of Runeterra, what regions are released to the players, and why that race exists in the first place (reasons why they look different than other people/cultures).

I'd rather they make a character I like than try to fulfill some arbitrary quota of the week.

Qiyana is nowhere near Middle Eastern. Take that from someone who's from the Middle East, specifically Lebanon.

Or so I think about Qiyana. What she could resemble is beyond me but not Middle Eastern i can say that much.

I'd say the problem comes down to stereotyping. Riot doesn't just want to create a typical sounding and looking Hispanic champion without justifying it.

Like Illaoi, could Riot have made a stereotypical sounding Hawaiian champion and just say she was living in Noxus or something? Sure, but it makes for a better narrative that she is essentially from LoL's version of Hawaii. You know, give her people lore and place in the universe.

Although they could just go the route of Fiora, and just make a Hispanic Noxian who just shouts "oi gringo" all the time with the heaviest fake Hispanic accent. That could work.... I guess.

Maybe no artist wanted to draw a Hispanic character. Maybe it doesn't sell because people love asian weebos with katanas like Yasuo.

Whatever is the reason, it's a reason.

And honestly i'm not even sure what is hispanic. Personally i consider the hispanics part of the European peoples. I don't see how mediterrean people differ from hispanic and we all share hispanic traits. Im from the Mediterrenean and i never considered hispanic people to be anything different from your standard European but tbh i don't know how things work in the US.

You guys seem obsessed with race i guess
