Solace, Ghost of the Watchers
Description: This character is going to take a more complicated role as an assassin, a more situational role. Unlike other assassins, his kit benefits on not being seen at all which includes being under enemy minion vision, not being caught by traps, or being right next to the enemy champion. When playing as this character, you cannot be spotted or you won't deal as much damage as you need to with your attacks. Team fights even require you to remain unseen and flank the enemy from an alternate route. There is some ninja culture I'm going to reference, thanks to youtuber Gaijin Goomba's video on how to play as Genji from Overwatch using actual Ninja culture.
Stats: Attack - 100% Health - 10% Magic - 10% Difficulty - 90%
Attributes: Primary - Assassin Secondary - Fighter
Abilities: Passive - Death Deception If the next hit taken is a killing blow, Solace will vanish and leave behind a fake corpse, removing all negative effects and gain 10% additional movement speed for 4 seconds or is completely out of range of enemy vision. During this time, Solace cannot attack. This ability has a fixed cool-down of 2 minutes.
First Ability - Ghostly Illusion
Solace quickly flashes at a direction, dealing physical damage to enemies he slices through and leaves behind a ghost which will repeat his swift strike again in 1.5 second(s) and deal the same amount of damage to anymore enemies within its path. (Similar mechanic to
's Death Ray Hexcore upgrade, Aftershock but this a mobile ability). If Solace uses this ability while out of enemy vision (Not including neutral and epic monsters), the range of this attack is doubled.
Second Ability - Eye of the Watchers Solace channels for up to 4 seconds to extend his vision to reveal enemies that only he can see, excluding invisible units. After finishing channeling, the extend vision slowly decreases back to normal depending on how long Solace channels his ability. Cool-down also decreases depending the duration of channeling. (Note that I said 'that only he can see'. Whatever extended vision he has, it will not apply to allies)
Third Ability - Marked for Death Solace throws a knife at a single target, dealing overtime physical damage and marking the enemy for death for 4 seconds. Marking an enemy for death means that the target can be seen by allies and all damage dealt to that target is increased by 10%. If Solace is able to use this ability while out of sight, the range of the ability doubles and damage is dealt upon landing.
Ultimate - Blade of the Solace Solace leaps into the air and strikes his blade into the throat of his target victim, dealing physical damage and is able to apply critical strikes. If this ability is used while out of enemy vision, then the critical strike is dealt as true damage. However, regardless of being in or out of enemy vision, if the target victim has 20% or less of their total health remaining, the critical strike will be dealt as a killing blow. (If the killing blow is about to be dealt, time will slow to see a slow motion action of Solace leaping into the air as his blade glows, about to deal the killing blow upon the unfortunate victim).
Synergy:
Works well with -
By using Eye of the Watchers and Marked for Death on a victim in a distance, Jhin can use Curtain Call to snipe down that enemy. With the 10% damage bonus, each bullet, especially the last one, will deal critical damage.
Same case scenario when it comes to Xerath's ultimate, Rite of Arcane and much easier since this attack deals Area of Effect magic damage.
Another scenario where Eye of the Watchers and Marked for Death is most useful for a sniper. If any low health targets get out of sight, Solace's throwing knife will also enable Caitlyn to use Ace in the Hole on the marked target despite being out of range.
Struggles against -
It's not smart to try and assassinate an inventor who has guns guarding him all over. Not even Blade of the Solace will keep, well, Solace safe. Solace is very squishy and those guns are powerful enough to take him out quickly even if Solace does kill Heimerdinger.
You cannot hide from someone who knows your every move. Destiny will not only reveal Solace's location but Twisted Fate would appear at his position and take him out quickly.
If Solace kills Sion with his Blade, he will pay the great price by dealing with Sion's Glory in Death, taking up punches from the enraged juggernaut, unable to resist them as much as anyone else could. He'll be easily squashed like a bug too if he tries to fight Sion head on.
Tips: Playing as Solace -
- You may have one of the most powerful ultimate abilities but you are one of the most weakest champions in the field. Pick off one target and quickly get out of sight or else the enemy will find you and kill you quickly.
- Before attempting an assassination, especially during team fights, try to formulate a plan of attack, that includes knowing escape routes once your target victim is killed or if you fail to kill your target, and making sure you make your assassination attempts away from your teammates to decrease the chances of being spotted.
- Spy for your team with Eye of the Watchers. Since only you could see whatever targets are within your extended range, you must communicate with your team to help them know if there are any ambushes taking place or if there is an enemy trying to take buffs or is wandering carelessly on their own.
- Use your abilities sparingly since most of them all have a large cool-down of up to 20 seconds. These abilities are mostly situational.
Playing against Solace -
- As soon as you spot Solace, take him out quickly. You earn 20% more gold and experience from Solace if you take him out alone.
- Stick together to ensure that when Solace attempts to assassinate one of your crucial teammates, you can prevent him from doing so or kill him to ensure he doesn't get away with it once he does kill your ally.
- No matter how much armor or health you have against him, if you only have 20% or less health left, you will be eliminated instantly if he use Blade of the Solace on you if the damage dealt is a critical strike. If this happens to an ally, take the slow motion moment as an opportunity to use your abilities to attack him once he lands his assassination. All movement across the map will be slowed but the cool-down time of your abilities still remain.
- Even if Solace is able to leave behind a fake corpse upon the killing blow, he is not able to attack again until he reappears. Use items like
or revealing abilities, which includes
's Phosphorus Bomb to reveal him to finish him off quickly.
Lore: The Master of Shadows, Zed, may have been the first to unlock the forbidden techniques in 200 years, but he wasn't the only one to master it. The second one to master those techniques would be Solace but only for noble purposes. Solace, alongside Zed and the Ninja Master's son, Shen, these three were students among the Kinkou order. Unlike his two rivals, Zed and Shen, Solace wasn't the best student. In fact, he could be the worst. Solace has always been seen by the great masters as a complete failure but his determination and his intentions of learning and the lack of attention from the other students was what kept the Great Ninja Master from banishing him. He sensed that Solace might have the potential to master techniques that are more powerful than the ones that are being taught. Those techniques would be the forbidden ways of the shadows. He sensed that someday, Solace would put these forbidden techniques into good use.
That time would be when one of the students, Zed unlocks those forbidden techniques to defeat Shen, his longtime equal who once saw him as a brother. After Zed was banished, Solace was called in by the master afterwards to perfect the most powerful techniques within the forbidden ways but is only to be used should a great threat such as Zed were to return with vengeance. Solace was even taught outside the awareness of the master's son. Not even the other grand masters knew about Solace's practices. In day, Solace would practice but fail the common techniques. In night, he would master the greater forbidden techniques over and over again. By the time Zed returns with an army of ninjas, Solace was ready.
The Master called Solace to wait within the temple to watch over the box of forbidden knowledge. When the Master brought Zed, Solace's orders was to assassinate him. Solace readied his arm, preparing to throw his blade at the throat of the banished master. He throws the blade but at that moment, Zed turned his back. Instead of hitting his throat, the blade struck against his back. But the pain was great, great enough for the ninjas to hear Zed cry in agony. Solace, hesitant on the mistake he made, was signaled by the grand master to flee, leave him to his death. But before leaving, Solace witnessed the Master of Shadows beheaded the great master.
As he fled, he sees Shen and Zed fighting, along with seeing the master's head on the ground. Zed was able to defeat Shen but before the final blow was struck, Solace leaps into the air and attempts to assassinate Zed a second time, only this time, he fly to Zed and aims his hidden blade at his through. But Zed was quick enough to maneuver this attempt and quickly leaves behind a living shadow then attempts to fight back. Solace felt that he was about to be killed by Zed's Death Mark. But Shen stood united with Solace and prevented his death with one of his most powerful techniques. Shen was about to thank Solace until he realizes that Solace had learn one of the most forbidden techniques and was about to use it on Zed. Shen quickly saw Solace as a threat to balance and attempts to fight him. But Solace was quick enough to vanish out of sight and Shen could no longer track him but continued with saving the rest of the students from the attack.
Solace continues to roam out of sight. Not even the Master of Shadows could see him. But learning of what he had witnessed, he realized that now he had a new rival. One who had perfected the most forbidden techniques he's ever encountered and seeks to one day challenge him. For now, his conquering of the ninja temple was his greatest priority.
After the fall of the ninja order, Solace began a new life outside of Ionia, forming a guild of assassins to learn the forbidden ways and use them for good. Some of them were former students of the Ninja Order and the Order of Shadows. Each of them are assigned contracts to hunt down threatening figures across Valoran, whether that would be a tyrant, a criminal mastermind, a loose cannon, a tiny master of evil, serial killers, and many more criminals that gets a bounty on their heads. This guild of assassins soon grew into a secret organization called the Ghosts of the Watchers with Solace as the guild leader.
Solace one day began a campaign where he attempts to take down or recruit all the students from the Order of the Shadows, all while avoiding the students from the old Ninja Order.
But that campaign was halted afterwards when one day, during his time off, he made a visit to an inn. But as he ate his meal, he sees both Shen and Zed in the same building. Maybe it was time for Solace to make the move but Shen was about to make it first. It was better for him to wait since Zed and Shen don't know Solace was in plain sight.
But something didn't seem right. Solace overhears the conversation, expecting them to fight afterwards but they change the subject of the conversation and what they've discussed was something that made them both feel uneasy. This became very concerning. Something serious was out there. Some criminal monstrosity, an elegant one at that.
As soon as the conversation was finished, Solace waited for the two to leave. Then he begins to leave the inn, paying for his unfinished meal and walking out quietly to avoid making a scene.
Solace later met up with one of his guild members. He was told that one of the assassins was killed during her undercover operation. He quickly rush to the sight of the murder, only to find the dead member killed with her corpse left with something unspeakable and disturbingly. . . beautiful. . .
The horrific sight brought a chill down Solace's spine. Because of this death, because of how it was done, it could be a sign that his guild was in danger. He had to warn the others and stop the threat. As he left the scene, he bumped into a man, dressed in a blue outfit who then left with a suspicious look on his face. Solace was left with the same thing. But that was irrelevant. Right now, something is out there and it's targeting his guild, and possibly the families they protect.
As Solace continues his journey with an uneasy thought in his mind, he had a feeling that he was being watched. Seeing what appears to be flowers on the ground in a certain pattern, decorated with shards of metal, something was leading him to something. But what? Then he sees a note on a tree. He reads the note, shocked at the message he sees:
The story of a flower who has yet to bloom, The greatest of my master piece that no one knew, So prepare yourself, my little sapling, For you shall be the star of my grand finale.
With the note in hand and fear within his chest, he rushes off quickly. Will his forbidden knowledge aid him in this terrifying encounter or will it serve a role in the performance that has just begun?
Skins: Classic - As an ex-student of the fallen ninja order, Solace still carries the weapons he's been trained to use. But instead of wearing a ninja outfit,he wears a rogue outfit based on traditional rogues you see in medieval fantasies. The end of his cloak appears torn so he'll appear poor to the rest of the people. His outfit also looks purposely torn to resemble that beggar appearance but his leather boots are still durable as well as his gloves. They both looked worn out despite being new. It's also purposely made that way to look poor and uninteresting. But Solace carries hidden weapons within his cloak, including a blade he hides underneath his wrist. He also had a ninjato on his right hip and a throwing knife on his left hip. This is because he is left handed when in combat.
Program -
Designs for this skin is pretty technological and is meant to be part of the Program skin line along with
and
and possibly other champions with this skin if there is enough room left for at least one more member. The cloak would appear holographic but his hood looks technological and his visor will keep his eyes covered.
Bilgerat - A pirate skin but his eyes still remain covered within the shades of his cloak.
Petal Ninja - A ninja outfit with a theme of unbloomed flowers that are just beginning to bloom. The artistic details are up to you.

This is all I have for now but I wouldn't consider this complete. There's more about his lore that I would want to add but I'm all out of ideas. Also, I'm not sure about the base stats for his abilities, or at least know how to give the kind of stats that would make it balanced from you guys' standards. All these and more, I'll leave that up to you. I hope you like the concept and I hope I can get some help in making it better. It's been awhile since I've created these discussions. Hope to hear from you.
