(Champion Concept) Hakim, the Seeker of Perfection
LORE http://www.artofmtg.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Amonkhet-Art-02.jpg Art by Chase Stone Within Shurima, there are many ancient tombs, temples, and buried palaces that hold many secrets within them. Far, far beneath the sands that, in the past, buried the ancient city of Shurima, lay the Great Library of Nasus, which was named after the respective being who would constantly gather artifacts of knowledge from the many kingdoms that the ancient empire of Shurima conquered. While the Ascended beings of old were often used to wage war on the many enemies of Shurima, a few were left behind within the empire's capital to guard the emperor. Once of these powerful beings was Hakim, a being who knew nothing but respect for the arcane arts. Hakim was a mastermind that believed that anything less than perfect was a waste of space. To him, even the emperor was not perfect. Nothing was truly perfect, making all a waste of space. However, if one sought perfection, one could delay their inevitable demise due to being nothing but a waste. If one did not seek perfection, to Hakim, they were as good as dead to the empire. When Xerath ascended, causing the disappearance of Shurima, Hakim was far from the capital for the first time in his life. The wings he had been given upon ascending allowed him to travel to the far north, allowing him to see what ancient powers were there. With strange findings, Hakim returned to his beloved capital only to find it had disappeared. He searched for his beloved city for days, unable to find it. Truly, he was lost. In his search, he did eventually find a familiar face that he held great respect for: Nasus. To him, Nasus was the closest person he knew to becoming a perfect being. Of course, he would never reach perfection, but one still could measure how close another was to the unreachable. Nasus held grim news, telling Hakim that the ancient city of Shurima had been betrayed by the emperor's best friend, Xerath. Hakim did not know what to think. Xerath was an incredibly intelligent individual that Hakim knew wanted nothing more but freedom. However, with Nasus' news, it seemed ironic that in the end Xerath had only obtained something worse than slavery: imprisonment. Lost in more ways than one, Hakim fled the desert of Shurima to find a new purpose in life after learning that the empire he once loved had been destroyed in one swoop. He journeyed back to the north to learn what he could of what he had discovered there. Decades upon decades past and Hakim's presence was never felt by Runeterra. He had seemingly disappeared after leaving Shurima. Nasus believed him to be dead, believing the mysteries Hakim had discovered in the north to have consumed him. However, when Azir arose from the sands and began to retake his kingdom, Nasus was instructed to find any Ascended who still wished to serve their emperor. The war with Xerath would require bodies, and incredibly powerful bodies at that. Nasus began his search within the Freljord, living out many weeks within the harsh blizzards that twisted the wastelands. The tribes of the Freljord were at war and Nasus found himself right in the middle of the conflict. He felt his mission to be failed when, suddenly, the blizzard disappeared from around him after a ginormous gust of wind sent the snow and clouds over the far mountains. Before him was not the Hakim he knew before, but a far more powerful being. Standing atop a snowy mountain was a ginormous being that resembled Hakim. In truth, it was Hakim. His wings that were once only large enough to barely carry Hakim now stretched for what seemed a mile from the tip of one wing to the other. Hakim had discovered the ancient powers within the Freljord, and had ascended beyond something even Nasus could be compared to. He landed before Nasus, his sheer size causing Nasus to become dizzy when he tried to look upon his old friend's face. Hakim explained that he was not who Nasus once knew him to be. He had found ancient power within the Freljord that he had claimed for his own. He did not care that Shurima had risen back, to be truthful. He had sensed it's return, but had realized that an empire that could fall would fall again. He remained in the north by his own choices, believing this to be his new home. He hid within the intense blizzards, becoming invisible even to the most powerful beings he knew to reside within the Freljord. Hakim had obtained power from mysterious beings he had found deep within an abyss. He flew within and soon found himself in the presence of titanic beings that promised him power if he assisted them. Curious as to what exactly these beings would give him in exchange, Hakim agreed to help them. When Hakim emerged from the abyss, he was something far more powerful than before. Combining the powers of the sun, arcane, and ice magics that he had now become able to control, Hakim was a god among gods. Nasus pleaded for him to return to Shurima, but Hakim resisted. If Nasus was looking for allies, he would have to look elsewhere or prove to Hakim that Shurima would not disappoint him again. Nasus growled at such words, believing Hakim to have changed. This was not the Hakim he once knew. The Hakim who saw perfection in all who strove to perfect themselves and helped them along the way if they at least tried. Nasus had thought of all the ascended that could possibly still be alive, Hakim would be the first to rejoin the people of Shurima to fight back against the now free Xerath. Hakim shook his head in disapproval.
Gods Don't Hide In Blizzards
Nasus' anger flowed through him. The giant before him who he believed to be his old friend now refused to help the people he loved. He refused to return to Shurima. "You were once a good man Hakim," Nasus growled. "You were the first I had thought would rejoin Azir in his fight against the betrayer. You... you are not who you once were. You do not deserve such power! You are no better than Xerath!" Hakim shook his hood in disapproval. "Fool. If you bare no proof that Shurima has changed, then how am I to believe my presence would make any difference. All things are bound to repeat themselves if nothing changes and someone tries to undo their mistakes. Insanity is what you describe to me. You believe Azir to be leading you to a bright future? Fool. He was the emperor who doomed our empire in the first place. He is no leader I would take a knee before. He is no leader you should take a knee before. You are nothing but a miserable pup, doing his master's bidding. Times have changed Nasus. I am not who I used to be and neither are you. Why don't you quit fooling around in the sand and explore the world. It is a beautiful place that holds many mysteries." "Silence your tongue!", spoke the jackal. "Do not forget why you are who you are today! If it was not for Azir and the many before him, you would still be a snotty, useless, weak boy who did nothing but hid from the bullies outside! I saw potential in you Hakim! Where is it now?!" Hakim turned and began to leave. "You are miserable. Leave now and I'll be sure to leave the skies clear for you so you can more easily crawl back to your pigeon king. We are gods among men, Nasus. You don't have to be such a lap dog." With that, Hakim flew into the clouds, leaving no trace that he was ever there. A light curtain of snow began to fall from the sky as the clouds returned to where they once were. Nasus turned back to return to where had come from. Disgusted at what Hakim had become, he was worried none would return to Shurima in the empire's time of need. Before Nasus began to walk away, he whispered something under his breath. "Gods don't hide in blizzards, Hakim." With that, Nasus began his journey back to Shurima.

GAMEPLAY SUMMARY
The goals of a Hakim are quite simple in reality: control the enemy team and make sure they never endanger you. With your unparalleled ability to freely move across the map, you can do as you please most of the time until an enemy catches you off-guard. With your ability to manipulate the ability through Arcane Prison and Ice Brush, you can control team fights to be in your team's favor most of the time. Blinding Refraction will allow you to peel off stray enemy Assassins who wish to bring you down to earth. Speaking of which, if you are forced to land, you will find it in your best interest to be near an ally since the self-stun upon landing combined with the fact that you are on low health will cause you to be easily dispatched by enemies. Teamwork is key when making use of Hakim, and is rewarded greatly by offering a kit that provides incredible control over the battlefield. Arcane Prison allows you to block off a very small section of the battlefield, essentially creating a "no fly" zone for the enemy team. No one can escape once they are within it and no one can move through it once it's placed down due to it knocking them down. Only someone who is already on the outside and can blink through it can hope to bypass Arcane Prison once it's placed down. This means that correct placement of this ability can make or break the beginning of a fight since it can shut down enemy initiation or make your own team's initiation much more impactful. Ice Brush is a tool that is incredibly powerful tool when roaming early in the game. By flying into the lane and blocking off the enemy's path with a wall of ice or even using it to stun them, this ability can quickly spell out the death of enemies who are on the wrong side of it. Note that this ability cannot be used while Hakim is above terrain, so Hakim must endanger himself by moving above passable terrain in order to use this ability. It also cannot pass through impassable terrain, limiting it's use in the tight spaces of the jungle. Blinding Refraction is a self peel ability that will blind nearby enemies, deal minor damage, and heal you for an increasing chunk of health for each enemy champion hit by this ability. This encourages Hakim to use it when multiple enemies are nearby, meaning he should probably use it when multiple enemies are diving onto him or even as a sneaky engage tool against select teams that are heavily reliant on basic attacks. Be warned if you plan to use this spell offensively, however, as Hakim has incredibly pitiful defensive base stats and you will most likely be relying on the healing given by this ability to stay alive. Finally, we get to Hakim's most cruel ability: Steal Essence. This is a point and click, channeled ability that causes Hakim to encase his target in a floating block of ice and suppress them. While they are suppressed, Hakim will steal their essence from them by damaging them, recovering mana for himself and granting him increased movement speed temporarily. The mana will allow Hakim to continue to contribute to the battle after using this ability and the movement speed will allow Hakim to recover from the long channel time of this ability or even flee if needed. Whether Hakim uses this ability to set up his other spells or as a follow up to them, this ability provides unparalleled single target crowd control that the enemy team can only hope they aren't the victim of.
