@Riot Why are some particles changed on skins but some aren't?

I've always wondered this when looking at skins. Why are some particles allowed to be changed in looks (like Elise cocoon), but some aren't (like Ahri's charm and Jinx's zap). What is really the difference and the thought process behind this? If clarity is the answer, I still don't understand Elise's cocoon.

Mainly would be interested to know, because the Firecracker Jinx's pink zap indicator looks horrible and completely out of place on that skin. I'm pretty sure plenty of other people agree with me. Why not a slight color or texture change?

In one of the posts about Ahri's new skin, the Rioter talked about how in all her skins, her orb and her charm are unchanged for the skillshot portions - and the orb always looks relatively the same - for Clarity reasons. They want players to be able to look at the champ or the skillshot and know exactly what they're seeing. So Ahri's orb is always blue with little texture or particle variation and similarly green when her passive is active. Charm is always a heart and it's always the same color so you instantly know what is coming at you.

Historically, they've had issues when altering particles for skillshots. Most notably is iBlitzcrank's rocket grab particle. It's animation is so radically different from other skins that players constantly have a hard time recognizing and avoiding it.

If I'm understanding your question properly:

It's price points. More expensive skins have more changes, like particle effects (IN GENERAL).
