Zilean Rework [It's really time themed, I promose ;)]

Passive - Chronosorcery Every 5 minutes in game, Zilean gains bonus AP. Additionally, after a certain point in the game Zilean's spells gains a bonus effect. (Should be shorter in ARAM, DOM, and TTL)

Chronosorcery Bonus at 5 minutes in game: Instantly gains a charge of Rewind and at every 30 seconds in game. Zilean can activate a skill that is on cooldown by consuming a charge of Rewind. Holding a charge still counts towards the countdown until the next charge. Max 1 charge. Rewind only reduced the cooldown of R by 10 seconds. (Ex. At 5:29, Zilean consumes a charge on Q, then at 5:30 Zilean immediately gains a new charge. However, if you did not use the charge at 5:29, then at 5:30 the new charge replaces the old one.) Additionally, after every 5 minutes in game, Zilean's spells or stats gains a bonus.

Chronosorcery Bonus at 55 minutes in game: Now gains charges of Rewind every 10 seconds instead.

Q - Time Bomb Fires a ball of compressed time at target enemy or ally and tags onto them for 4 second and then explodes, dealing AoE damage. Enemy units can block this skill and it tags onto them instead. Ally cast cannot be blocked. (Think Cait ult or Pix, but enemy minions and jungle monsters can block it as well. Same mechanics as Zilean's live Q.) Every additional Q within a moderate duration deals less damage. Chronosorcery Bonus at 15 minutes in game: The damage reduction of each additional cast is removed, and the projectile's speed is increased.

***W - Time Bubble *** Creates a bubble at target location for a short duration. Enemy projectiles caught in the bubble will have their travel speed reduced by 80% while inside the bubble. Enemies while inside the bubble are slowed and gain stacks of Chronodisplasia every 0.5 seconds, and Zilean's damaging attacks will consume the mark to deal bonus damage per mark. The bubble duration scales with rank. Chronosorcery Bonus at 25 minutes in game: The bubble now completely freezes the projectile for the duration of the bubble, and the slow amount is increased while enemies are also slowed for an extra second upon exiting the bubble.

E - Time Accel/Decel Ally Cast - Target champion's animation speed are increased by 100% for a few seconds. This effect ends prematurely if Zilean gets damaged within the duration. (Ex. Ezreal normally takes 1 sec to jump up and fire his ult. Now it takes 0.5 secs to complete that action.) [This effects the cast time of spells, channel duration, attack speed, movement speed, and also their projectile speed.] Enemy Cast - Target champions animation speed are slowed by 50% for a few seconds. This effect ends prematurely if Zilean gets damaged within the duration. Chronosorcery Bonus at 35 minutes in game: Now grants a decaying speed buff on allies and a slow on enemies for a moderate duration. This speed modifier duration is halved if Zilean takes damage. (The full duration of the decaying speed modifier should be the same as the cooldown of E when you have 40% CDR in order to retain Zilean's perma-haste/slow)

R - Chronoshift Marks an ally champion with a Revive rune for 2 seconds. If they die during the duration of the mark, they will be revived. The Revive rune changes into a Rejuvenation rune after 2 seconds, granting movement speed and healing them over 5 seconds. Chronosorcery Bonus at 45 minutes in game: For 1 second after the Revive rune is consumed or wears off, any damage and CC dealt to the champion is delayed for 1 second. The heal and revive amount is also increased.

My goals in this rework are to: Implement more time theme into Zilean's spells, make Zilean's spells have more interesting play patterns, open up more decision making, and also make it fun and interactive to both the Zilean player and the opponent.

Changes since putting up the thread

  • Chronosorcery now grants the bonus AP every 5 minutes, and Rewind recharge time reduced to 15 seconds from 10 seconds after 50 minutes.
  • Rewind initial recharge time increased to 30 seconds from 20 seconds.
  • Rewind no longer refreshes the cooldown of spells, but rather Zilean can activate a spell that is on cooldown by consuming a charge of Rewind.
  • Rewind now reduces the cooldown of R by 10 seconds instead. (Forgot to specifiy this from this start :P)
  • Time Bomb now deals reduced damage for each additional cast within a moderate duration.
  • Chronosorcery bonus to Time Bomb now removes the reduction of damage from additional casts, but no longer adds more damage and AoE to the spell.
  • Time Bubble CHANGED FROM Slowing and turning projectiles into skillshots, and marking enemies with Chronodisplasia if they contact the bubble, with the mark being consumed with Zilean's attack resulting in bonus damage and a stun.
  • Chronosorcery Bonus to Time Bubble no longer increases its area.
  • Chronoshift damage and CC delay reduced to 1 second from 1.5 seconds.

This seems insanely hard to balance and implement.

It is pretty darned inspired though.

Some of these effects are way too strong. For example

  • Zilean can triple-Q any target he catches out. Just the threat of a flash -> triple-Q -> ignite is enough to zone any reasonable person away from their creeps entirely. This can happen at level 1.
  • An 80% projectile speed decrease that also turns projectiles them into skill shots will basically function as a 1.5s AoE blind and total skill shot destroyer. In addition, dropping a bubble on an enemy will let you stun them, then walk over and double-Q them for incredibly free harass. It's also a game-winner for ganks.
  • A 100% increase in all animation speeds is a no-go. Halving Twitch's stealth duration or Ezreal's channel time is crazy. Not to mention even worse abuse cases like Fiddlestick's free channel or slowing down someone who uses Zhonya's.
  • The delay on Chronoshift is way too strong. A 1.5s delay of damage and cc is basically 1.5s of invulnerability and CC immunity. Put that on a fizz, or a zed, or a karthus, and you have completely uncounterable burst.

Very nice rework but I think we don't need anymore abilities that affect projectiles. Yasuo and Braum is already enough. Trust me you don't wan't a team that can literally negate projectiles.Yasuo yasuo topBraum braum support Zilean zilean mid(If this rework was acutally made).

The ult would be broken in team fights thanks to the static 20 seconds, if you got engaged on you could throw down THREE chronoshifts if the fight started at the right time. One way of dealing with that is have it take "X" seconds from the LAST charge of rewind activated. That being said, I still like Zilean's current kit is pretty nice, but your passive idea is interesting underwhelming. Using milestones by the tens would make Zilean incredibly underwhelming in higher elo/LCS play, simply because a fair amount of games wouldn't go on long enough for him to hit the forth power spike, and the final two power spikes would be almost nonexistant in those games. Instead, the passive could be something simple like amping up his AP by "Y" amount every "Z" length of time, which is basically your 60 minute effect from the passive.

Really neat concepts.

I think some things could use tweaking, such as the passive's buffs coming a bit earlier, but overall very interesting ideas.

Seems really well made,good job.

May i suggest something?I thought about his E and came up with an idea,Why not make it similar to LBs W?

*Ally cast: 1.CAST Increases allies MS,while leaving a Time portal at their current place. 2.CAST Teleports ally to the portal.

Enemy cast ->Same,just with a slow instead of a MS boost.

Althought i think this will be hard to balance.Having a great disengage and the ability to let people power dive and then teleport them out would be annoying,but also very interesting for the player.

Obviously you arn't a designer or a game balancer so there are a couple aspects of this kit that could cause issues. However, I upvoted because you have some really good ideas to make him more valuable to a team and add some counterplay. Thank you for caring about Zilean and taking the time to post your thoughts.

seems pretty hard to code that without destroying the game... but i sort of like that he gets stronger the more time is passing by, a mechanic that would also work for support zilean.
