Well Soterios, the Hydrosoul: Personal opinions and possible concept discussion.
A few people on the boards might be talking about this character here and there after a video was released today detailing the champions early concept and lore and eventual cancellation, so I'm here to add my opinions as well.
Originally he was meant to be a sort of water mage who's concept might've been reworked into the support that we now have today, which is nami.

For the record of course this photo which might be shown in various related posts is not his actual design but simply an unrelated picture created during a contest apparently.
Now. What this post is about is after seeing his lore and thinking about it for abit, I have to say this would actually be a pretty nice foundation to use for a new champion. Not just the Hydrosoul concept but also that picture's own character concept as well.
Basing this off of more recent Champion releases it's obvious that riot is creating more and more champion concepts based off of the realm of the gods and demons to expand the possibilities with champions like Tahm Kench ( A mythical demon ), Illaoi ( A priestess who shares the ways of her god ), and Aurelion Sol Who may not be stated as a god but is by definition pretty darn close.
I personally would love to see this characters concept given a new life and reworked into the theme of a sort of Water demon under the control of the gods he once worshiped. It's been too long sense we've received a really good horror themed champion sense Thresh and his absolutely chilling login screen.
Basic summary of what I'm saying is I would love to see this character revived and reworked into a modern mage champion using the same character design as the one from the above linked photo.
Now on to the other thing I wanted to discuss. AD Mages.
By default the difference between a champion being AP and AD is typically sorted by going off of their theme and play style. Champions that tend to use things other than physical attacks or physical weapons are typically given AP rations and mostly magical damage. Champions that do the exact opposite and use Physical weapons and attacks like punching, kicking, bows, blades, ect are given AD Ratios and mostly Physical damage. (Except in the cases of place holder damage and it's AP ratios like Lucian and graves W)
I would absolutely love to see what riot would do with a concept of an AD mage and how it would turn out as a finished product. Now don't get this confused. There's a large difference between an AD mage and an AD Caster like talon, zed, or lee sin. For instance imagine if a ranged mage like brand was built around Physical damage and related itemization, rather than the above mentioned AD casters that still use their abilities mostly but aren't actually anywhere close to the play style of most mages.
It's a really unexplored concept and I would really want to see how riot would handle such a task of making a champion like this.
Anyway thanks for reading and let me know your own opinions on this canceled champion and if you think he's at all worth reviving in the way I mentioned.
