Appearance

Appearance: He is about 6-Foot 1 Inches tall, slim build, fair white skin, attractive but masculine face, aqua blue eyes, messy, average-length auburn brown hair, appears to be in his mid to possibly late 20‘s. He wields a long, black Zwei-hander sword (A German sword from the Renaissance).

Personality/Lore

Personality: He is a cold, resolute, and firm man who once believed in the values of his home-nation of Demacia, but has now intentionally turned his back on them, his nation and his people, seeing them as hypocrites. He is angered with them because of what happened to his adoptive father.

Lore: Jeffery's earliest memories are of being in a Demacian orphanage, with no knowledge of his original parentage. He was a troublemaker, often getting into fights with the other boys of the orphanage and getting into trouble with the law. This rowdiness and restlessness often caused him to passed over by most prospective adoptive parents that would come to the orphanage, which only furthered his anger. This remained unchanged until an older warrior-turned-blacksmith came to the orphanage, named Weise. Weise saw Jeffery and sensed his fighting spirit and restless anger. He took Jeffery in, with the intent to train him and prevent him from becoming a much more dangerous being to himself and others when he grew up.

Weise worked hard to help the boy tame his anger throughout his early adolescence, and once he felt Jeffery was ready, he entered him into a prestigious military academy. Jeffery was grateful to his adoptive father, the training and lessons learned from his apprenticeship having softened him much, and seemed to reaffirm his belief in the values of his nation.

When in the library of the academy, Jeffery discovered an old tome that documented an ancient order. It was an order of knights that existed very early on, in the Demacian nation's infancy. These knights, like the Demacian soldiers and warriors that followed them, upheld justice and law. But there was one aspect about them that was staunchly different from Demacia. These knights wielded weapons made of a black metal or metal-like material known as Ebony. This awoke a sense of curiosity in Jeffery, and he sought to find out what this material was, and if weapons were still made for Demacian military from it. When he asked his instructors on the matter, they answered very hesitantly that Ebony was a metal used very early in Demacian weaponry, but was quickly turned away as the virtues that their nation prided themselves on became prevalent, and Ebony was a dark metal that took away from this imagery. Jeffery did not give up, however, and during his free time, would search for other books or information on Ebony, slowly but surely gaining knowledge on the now-forbidden metal. Ebony seemed to produce an aura of darkness, which is no doubt why it was shunned, as it did not fit with the now ideal look of a Demacian. But these knights of the past did not shun it; they instead embraced it, teaching themselves how to make use of this aura to aid themselves in battle. Some grew in skill to where the aura could essentially "curse" their opponents and strengthen their attacks against them. Eventually, Jeffery's skill and resolve attracted the attention of Garen, and he inducted Jeffery as a trainee in the Dauntless Vanguard.

As he grew nearer to his graduation, Jeffery, like all his fellows, was given the right to have a weapon of his choice forged and brought to his graduation ceremony to be presented to him as he entered the Dauntless Vanguard full-time. Jeffery, having been trained and grown to like the use of a sword, knew that would be his best weapon, and decided within himself that he would have it made of Ebony, no matter the cost. After some time of searching, Jeffery found an old shrine said to have been used as a meeting-place by the knights he read about. He searched tirelessly through the decrepit old temple, and finally found a large black sword that resembled the ones shown in the tomes of the academy. Jeffery took the weapon with him out of the shrine, and brought it to his adoptive father. After some hesitation, Weise agreed to fix-up the weapon, if only out of respect for Jeffery's resolve, as he knew his adopted son well. Later, at Jeffery's presentation ceremony, the completed weapon was kept under its veil for an extended period of time, longer than most. In fact, it was kept until the weapon was presented to Jeffery at the end. With a smile, Jeffery unveiled his sword, expecting to hear cries of joy. Instead, he heard cries of "Heresy!" and "Traitor!". Any and all attempts to explain himself were shouted down, and Jeffery was arrested, with plans made to destroy his sword. In his cell, Jeffery questioned why this had happened, but then, clarity arose in him. The true ideals of his homeland had been deeply shrouded in indoctrination and other secrecy. He would work to expose and expunge this from his homeland with his black blade to prove that appearances are not always what they seem. Talk at first among his inquisitors was to execute him, but the pleadings of his adoptive father caused them to change their mind to at least exile him instead. Before his expulsion, Garen offered Jeffery one final chance to rebuke his black blade and have another sword that was more fitting to their appeal forged. But Jeffery stood his ground, defending his choice, claiming it could be just a strong a paragon of justice as the knights in the ancient past were with their Ebony-forged weapons. Angered by this, one of the fellow members of the Dauntless Vanguard proclaimed him a heretic, and drew his weapon to slay Jeffery. At first, Jeffery drew his blade to defend himself. But, then remembering Weise's lessons, he sheathed it, hoping that refusal to defy them would prove his worth to them. But then, Weise jumped in front of him, taking the blow in his son's stead. Weise fell dead, and in the following instant, all of his lessons were forgotten to Jeffery, and rage filled their place. Drawing his blade again, Jeffery shouted in defiance of his father's death, and rushed forward to strike down his murderer.

Much to Jeffery, and his attempted assailant's surprise, a black aura surrounded the blade, boosting Jeffery's strength as he fought back and landed blows, with the aura leaving visible black marks on his assailant. Finally, when Jeffery disarmed the man, the aura peaked, and Jeffery struck down his attacker. Without another word, Jeffery turned and left. Having left Demacia, Jeffery travels Valoran, offering his services as a blade-for-hire, mainly looking for jobs dealing with sowing dissension among the Demacian people, all while training to master the essence of his black blade.

"Demacia and its people has been blinded by their hunt for Justice. When their fall comes, it will be grand, and I will watch applauding."

Skills

Passive: Ebony Essence/Curse Every basic attack on a champion leaves 1 stack of "Ebony Essence" for a maximum of 6 stacks. These remain on the target for 6 seconds, and more attacks refresh the duration and/or add more stacks of the passive. Getting all 6 stacks turns it into "Ebony Curse", causing the next ability cast within the next 6 seconds on champions afflicted with "Ebony Curse" to have bonus effects. After the ability has been cast, "Ebony Curse" is consumed and Jeffery must rebuild the stacks to 6 stacks again to gain the bonus effects.

After "Ebony Curse" has been consumed by the use of an ability, a residual de-buff called "Ebony Remains" is inflicted on the champion for the next 5 seconds, causing all basic attacks to leave 2 counts of Ebony Essence rather than just 1, giving Jeffery a sporting chance to rebuild "Ebony Curse". But, if he does not rebuild it within that span of time, it goes back to only inflicting 1 stack. (This also applies if Jeffery is unable to make use of an ability before "Ebony Curse" wears off.)

Q: Umbra Slash (Range: 450) (MP Cost: 30/35/40/45/50) (Cool-Down: 10/9/8/7/6 Seconds) Jeffery swings his Zwei-hander in a half-circle arc in the target direction, dealing moderate damage to all units in front of him and at his immediate sides. This attack knocks aside all non-champion units struck by it. Ebony Curse Bonus: Umbra Slash's range is extended by 150 units of Range and deals an extra 50% damage.

W: Ebony Rage (Range: 300-per-slash) (MP Cost: 50) (Cool-Down: 25/22/19/16/13 Seconds) Passive: Jeffery is granted a 5% chance to leave two stacks of Ebony Essence at random on enemy champions he hits with basic attacks with each level of the skill. Passive Chance: 5%/ 10%/ 15%/ 20%/ 25% Active: Jeffery performs a dash in the direction of the cursor, slashing three times as he goes along, lightly damaging and adding one stack of "Ebony Essence" for each slash to enemy champions hit along the way. Striking enemy champions grant Jeffery a damage-absorbing shield equal to 10% of his max health for 4 seconds. It stacks up to 3 times at maximum. (1 stack for each Champion hit, and hitting the same champion multiple times reduces the power of the shield to 7.5%.)

E: Calamity Surge (Range: 500) (MP Cost: 45/50/55/60/65) (Cool-Down: 12/11/10/9/8 Seconds) Jeffery stabs his sword into the ground and lets loose Ebony energy, sending forth a medium-range, cone-shaped shock-wave in the direction of the cursor that deals moderate damage and slows all units struck by it. Ebony Curse Bonus: The slow is turned into a root, rooting the target for 1.25 seconds and the attack deals 30% more damage. Slow: 45% for 3 seconds, diminishes over-the-duration.

R: Adamant Strike (Range: 430) (MP Cost: 125) (Cool-Down: 120/100/80 Seconds) Jeffery leaps above his target and brings his Zwei-hander down with such force, it sunders his target’s armor and deals massive damage. Targets who survive the attack have their bonus armor reduced by 20% for 6 seconds, and have "Ebony Remains" inflicted on them, regardless of whether or not it was there before. Ebony Curse Bonus: Adamant Strike deals 200% damage to the target. (It is considered PHYSICAL damage, not true damage.)

Joke Jeffery rests the bottom of his sword’s handle in the palm of his hand, like balancing a broomstick. It stays still for a moment, but he starts to struggle with it and it falls over, with the flat bonking him on the head, and it falls on the ground. He picks it up while rubbing his head where it hit him. Hup! Alright, steady, steady... whoops! Ow. You know, Ebony is an all-purpose metal, except for... Ow! Cooking utensils. Don’t ever use ebony-forged tools for cooking utensils. Ack! Essence tastes terrible!

Taunt Jeffery points his sword forward, and watches as a black aura sheens from it, flowing into his open hand. He then clenches said free-hand into a fist, and the aura retreats back into his blade. He then resumes his normal position. _You're nothing but the next black stain on this blade. You can admit it; The aura of my black blade frightens you. You'll be black with Ebony envy once I'm done with you. _

Taunting near an enemy GarenGaren You say you fight villains; try looking in a mirror once in awhile. It's not how big the sword is, it's how you swing it, Garen. I "Might" just beat you to a pulp. You know of our homeland's corruptions, yet you do nothing to stop it. If that isn't a failure to justice, I don't know what is. (This line is meant to follow the one just above it.)

Taunting near an enemy Jarvan IVJarvanIV Ready to take the puppet's strings when your father's gone? I see your father's trained you well in the art of puppetry. You make the people dance how you want. I'll be stopping that now. A more corrupt and proud man than you, I've never seen.

Taunting near an enemy LuxLux If you idolize your brother, then you idolize a fool. I've no quarrel with you. It's your brother I want. Shall I extingush your light with my black blade?

Taunting near an enemy Demacian _I cannot quell your fury against me, so I must end it instead. They've pulled the wool over your eyes good. The traitors are the ones you follow, not I. _

Taunting near an enemy Noxian I'm no Demacian dog anymore; I'm a free man. If you want to test my strength, then come. I'll accept your challenges just as I would theirs. Something about you seems more homely, or welcoming, to me than they ever did.

Dance Jeffery starts doing various moves from the “Step in Time” dance sequence from Disney’s Mary Poppins. After going through the cycle, he does a 360-spin and begins again.

Laugh Jeffery laughs.

Recall Animation Jeffery stabs his sword into the ground, and cracks his knuckles. He then picks his sword up again and lays it along his shoulders.

Death Jeffery stabs his sword into the ground, and kneels while leaning on it. After a second or two, he then falls to the ground. I'm not done yet... Why must I face defeat... Is this my end...? (Various Groans) (Heavy breathing, then silence)

Character Relations

Garen: Jeffery hates Garen, as the man stood silently by when Jeffery's adoptive father was killed by one of his fellow members of the Dauntless Vanguard. He believes that Garen has a hand in the underhanded ideals and works that indoctrinate the people of Demacia, and seeks to defeat him. Garen, on the other hand, allowed Jeffery to leave without further trouble, as he felt Jeffery was justified in slaying his adopted father's killer, but could not and would not condone his use of the ebony-forged sword.

Jarvan IV: Similarly to Garen, Jeffery believes that Jarvan IV, and all the rest of the royal family, have enslaved the people of Demacia through their single-minded pursuit of so-called "Justice" and that they have darker intents than what it may seem. He seeks to dethrone the Lightshield Dynasty and create a more free form of government for the nation of Demacia.

Noxians: Despite being raised to hate them, Jeffery feels a mysterious sense of kinship towards Noxians, so it is possible that he is originally of Noxian descent.

Demacians: He does not hate the innocent people of Demacia who have no real connection to him; he just hates the ones that have part in the government and military, thinking them to be hypocrites and that they have enslaved/indoctrinated the people, and Jeffery seeks to break this so-called "indoctrination".
