Varian, the shapeshifter

Jungler, Assassin

Passive – Mana siphon

Varian’s basic attacks steal mana from target based on his damage 10/20/30% (for example 100 damage gives you 30 mana when maxed) should the target not have mana he gains it from their health at 5/10/15% (note: should they have mana but not enough to cover what he would take, Varian will only take what they have with that strike)

[Q] – Quicksilver *

Cost: 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 Mana Cooldown: 15/13/11/9/7

ACTIVE: Varian dashes forward dealing 70/90/110/130/150 (+ 100% AD) to targets he passes through. This ability receives a reduced cooldown by one second, for every other ability that hits champions or large Jungle minions. (Note: hitting multiple champions and/or large Jungle minions stacks the one second cooldown)

[W] – Pins and needles

Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 Cooldown 12/11/10/9/8

ACTIVE: Spikes erupt from Varian’s body in a 250 unit radius causing 70/90/110/130/150 (+ 50% AP) in initial damage, slowing targets 12/15/18/21/25% for 2 seconds and causes bleeding 3/5/7/10/12% each second for 3 seconds.

[E] – Mercury cutters**

Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8

ACTIVE: Varian’s arms extend out 350 units , forming into blades and swing inward in a cone dealing 40/50/60/80/90 (+50% AD) and silence’s all targets caught for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 sec.

[R] – Treacherous Deception*****

Mana 125/145/170 Cooldown: 140

PASSIVE: The last champion or large minion to be hit by one of Varian’s abilities now has their identity copied. If Varian hits another Target, the held identity is replaced. (Note: in Varian’s AoE attacks the nearest champion’s identity is taken.)

First Cast: Varian wraps himself within his cloak making a cocoon that immobilizes him. After channeling for 3 seconds, he will emerge as the copied player this will last 13/18/23 sec or until he attacks a target. (note: Varian also copies the victims’ current health. He will however display full health if the target is dead. He also copies the enemy teams skin should there be one.) Varian also cannot be targeted by enemy champion basic attacks when in the form of a champion but is targetable to all champion ability's.

Second Cast: Varian bursts from his disguise dealing 150 / 250 / 350 (+50% AP) within a 200 unit radius and blinding all targets caught reducing their vision to 600 for 2 sec.

*Might have it to where if his ult is active he can dash but his landing zone sets his ult off

**debating whether or not his arms extending into blades should deal some damage and might rename

***** was thinking that maybe a basic attack could take the identity as well

Stats

Health 440 (+85) Health regen. 7.25 (+0.75) Attack damage 50 (+3.1) Attack speed 0.668 (+2.7%) Mana 260 (+40) Mana regen. 7 (+0.4) Armor 21 (+3.5) Magic res. 30 (+1.5) Range 125 (Melee) Mov. speed 345

How to play

Varian has a very hit and run play style. With him you want deceive the enemy into thinking he is an ally and by causing as much chaos on the field as possible. (for example wiping out wards, copying enemies that have been dead for a while, etc.) This helps him and his teams win by shattering the enemy team’s awareness and confusing them on who is friend or foe. In team fights Varian can absolutely throw the enemy into panic if he can get his combo off. First you want to transform then engage, you want to aim for the middle of the enemy team. The next steps are to dash in, activate the ult again, spikes, dash out and use your mercury cutters to silence key targets. So the combo is: R-Q-R-W-Q-E

Varian is fragile and requires to be played with cunning and good map awareness Deception is key

Appearance, lore/personality:

What makes Varian interesting is that even though he is an assassin he does not kill for money or political gain, he does it to watch things un-ravel and to him there is nothing more enjoyable. Both kings and peasants fear Varian’s coming because they could be part of his plan whether they like it or not and death and destruction always follows after.

Varian’s appearance is shrouded in mystery. His cloak shows his figure which is average, His voice also sounds like multiple people, his face is shrouded out, and when he is casting spells a mercury like substance is visible. Who or whatever he is still unknown, even the grand summoners have little idea of his identity. But throughout the history of Runeterra there have been tails of faceless men/women that appeared from nowhere and cause absolute chaos; only identified by a midnight black cloak. They all might have very well been Varian, but one thing is for sure. Wherever Varian goes disarray follows and as Varian sees it; the league is an absolute playground. The summoners of the league will be watching him as closely as they can. But they still don’t know his true intentions.

Author note: This character is not 100% ready and does need adjustments. This is my early concept idea and I am open to hear your criticisms and thoughts. I think it would be interesting to have a spy like character in league.

I like the idea but seems overpowered to me ability wise, the ultimate sounds AMAZING, however when you mimic someone on the enemy team it would be better if you could get their abilities too, secondly he should be red to the enemy team no matter who he transforms into.

Its A fairly good idea for a champion. a couple things to change are:

1: make sure his passive isn't too overpowered early game

2: when you say he receives a one second cool down do you mean it removes one second from the existing cool down or turn it to 1 second

3: The E seems like too basic a spell so this is what I was thinking: Varian fores a single target skillshot that damages and applies a random crowd control onto the enemy hit(stun, slow, blind, terrify, charm, etc.) since he is a shapeshifter i think there could be a little bit of randomness to him

4: Would varian be able to be targeted by the other team if he turned into one of them. maybe he wouldn't get hit by basic attacks but would be damaged by skillshots. this ult is very good, I played around with a concept like this for a while and I think this champion concept does it justice. He is a lot like the spy from TF2 and will keep players on their toes.

I think for the q u should have it be reduced damage 10% each unit it passes through up to 30% kinda like the ezreal ult is
