So yeah, the video above describes how I see that Nasus joining the fray should look like. Sandstorm much, no memes plox.

Uhm, keeping the champion's theme can and is a standard when doing a rework. Since Nasus is a Shurima champion, his theme should get SAND induced. Irl sand causes movement impairment, out of which you can't really dash from, so that could be the theme.

Passive: Every x auto attacks cause Nasus to apply Grounded effect on the target.

Q: should be kept the same, except he should have some sort of empowered auto at every x attacks (lifesteal, increased by ability level).

W: could stay the same, but also cause a Grounded effect on the target, especially since Nasus doesn't have a gap closer/ms steroid.

E: Sandstorm with the same range/radius, also should slow the projectiles flying at it, that is let them through with delay (increased by ability level).

R: In addition to current stats boost, engulfs Nasus with the Sandstorm for 10 seconds, as well as taunt surrounding champions at cast (much like old Galio ult, except Nasus could move after finishing the cast).

This is also too simple, yet way more interesting that current Nasus. It would keep his opponents at melee range (the only range where Nasus is effective), and also bring some utility with the Sandstorm so that he doesn't rely on stacks so much.
