Played on Summoner’s Rift
tl;dr The Haunting is meant to emphasize jungling at all times of the match, while adding somewhat of a PvEvP play style. Going into the jungle during The Haunting is a calculated risk when the Spirits of monsters come back to avenge their fallen brethren.
New Gameplay Mechanic: Spiritual Haunting – After 10min of in game time (IGT) the sky darkens reducing champion vision and the jungle is haunted by the monsters who have fallen before, for 5min IGT. Hauntings will occur for 5min every 5min after. (i.e. 10min >>> 5min >>> 5min >>> 5min)
Gameplay during the Haunting
Darkened Skies: • Champions and minions gain reduced vision to fog of war • Turrets gain reduced vision to fog of war, but targeting range is unchanged. (Champions with turret agro are revealed in fog of war).
Cleansing Torch item available in shop
• Cleansing Torch allows player with a jungling item to “cleanse” (smite) spiritual camps.
o If you clear a camp with out cleansing it, the camp will return shortly after to be attempted again. (secondary clears do not grant gold or exp)
• The torch is a bonus enchantment for the jungle item that can only be purchased during a Haunt.
o Smite is now Cleanse.
o The torch does not take up an item slot
o Only one torch can be carried by the team at a time (double smite doesn’t work)
• Cleansing a spiritual camp grants the spirit buff to all teammates who are alive when the camp is cleared and standing in the light of the torch [vision range of the jungler]
Fear the Forest: All Jungle camps die and Jungle Spirit camps spawn in place. Spirit camps are unaffected by CC and gain various abilities.
Spirit Camps (camps still give basic buffs to the champion that smites it): • Spirit Raptors: mini raptors attack 50% faster, shred armor, and can’t be targeted until the large raptor is killed. Cleansing the spirit raptors grants Raptors Frenzy for the duration of the haunting, granting 25% attack speed and 5% movement speed.
• Spirit Wolves: a spectral wolves [3] will patrol the area of the jungle attacking the first champion seen, once alarmed, the wolf will call the rest of the pack to hunt their prey. To clear the camp you must take down the alpha at the camp spawn. Being pack animals, the spectral wolves will come to the aid of their alpha if attacked. Spirit wolves gain increase damage and resistance when grouped together. Cleansing the spirit wolves grants Pack Hunters for the duration of the haunting, giving increased fog of war vision as more teammates gather together (up to standard vision when all 5 champs are grouped)
• Spirit Gromp: the sprit gromp does not attack, but instead spits poison puddles around the jungle area slowing and dealing % magic damage to all who stand in it. Standing in a puddle for 1.5 seconds consumes the puddle and debuffs the champion closest to the center of the puddle with a stack of poison. Stacks last until the camp is cleansed. You must stack 2 [or 3] poison debuffs on the gromp before it can be cleansed. Attacking the gromp will pull agro and draw the gromp closer to you. Cleansing the spirit gromp grants Caustic Limbs for the duration of the haunting, your steps now leave behind a trail of poison and your auto attacks poison the enemy for .75 seconds (auto attacks do not stack poison damage) [or max at 3]
• Spirit Krugs: the kruggs will randomly cause a spiritual stampede in the jungle dealing physical damage and displacing champions (champions knocked into a wall take 150% of the damage and are stunned for 1 second [looks like doombots hecarim]. If a stampede occurs, the kruggs will run away from the champions and must be “herded” back in order to be cleansed. (don’t attack if they run, chase them back home). Cleansing the Sprit Krugs grants Out of My Way! for the duration of the haunting, giving 10% movement speed and allowing champions to knock aside enemies as they collide with them slowing them and dealing damage, the greater the move speed on collision the higher the damage and the further the enemies are displaced. The effect can occur to an enemy once every 5 seconds. (like Yasuo E)
• Spirit Brambleback: the Brambleback gains increased attack damage and burns targets for increasing damage in an area around it. Cinderlings will sometimes explode if it gets too hot (high dps is key here). Cleansing the Brambleback grants Icarus’ Hubris for the duration of the haunting. The area around you and your auto attacks now set the enemy champions ablaze, once a champion reaches critical mass they explode dealing magic damage in an area round them. If a champion explodes near another champion that is ablaze it sets off a chain reaction, consuming all stacks causing other champions to explode and deal damage based on the number of stacks consumed. A champion can explode once every 5 seconds. If a champion dies while ablaze it sets off the explosion. Death causes you to lose Icarus’ Hubris.
• Spirit Sentinel: the Sentinel and sentries gain increased damage resistance. When provoked the Sentinel will smash the ground with such force it stagers champions reducing combat effectiveness, lowering attack speed, movement speed, and ability damage. Sentries will sometimes give their life to heal the Sentinel. Cleansing the Sentinel grants Apollo’s Bravado [working name] your presence causes enemies to cower reducing combat effectiveness, while emboldening your minions near you, your minions will sometimes sacrifice themselves to heal you, can occur once every 5 seconds in combat. You can also trigger this effect by right clicking your own minion. Heal is based on the minions current and max health [i.e. sacrificing a full health cannon will heal more than a full health caster] [Triggering the effect divides the minion gold between the enemy team.]
• Sprit Scuttle Crab: the scuttle crab gains Scuttlers Wrath, causing random status effects to champions who damage it. Effects do not include blind, but do include fear, stun, slow, and knock back (effects occur once per champion every 5 seconds). Spirit Scuttle Crab cannot be cleansed but can be smote.
• Spiritual Epic Monsters gain bioluminescence, granting visibility in the pit when attacking and will attack any champion who enters their den. Once inside the den you cannot dash or jump over, blinks however will work [like Flash, Katarina’s Shunpo, or Ezreal’s Arcane Shift] this applies for both teams until the epic monster is slain. Cleansing Baron or Dragon grants Essence of the Apex Predator, jungle camps now submit to your team and return to their original form when attacked. Camps can still be cleansed and grant buffs as normal.
